Statesman Live for Android
Good coverage of local and regional news
It gets you the local news but its to much junk to go throu. If you are not hone you can't. Checkup on your home news
Works great on my android phone. Easy to use. Downloads and loads fast. Great filtering and push options. Highly recommend.
The only thing that loads reliably in this app are the ads.
It sucks
Slow, ugly, not all topics show up, can't login, can't exit. Browser link to digital copy of today's paper is a much better way to go.
Retired Military
Liked it
I have sports notifications disabled yet I continue to receive notifications about ut sports. That is not local or national news. Don't care and don't want those notifications. Also, when I click on a notification, the app is opened but I am not taken to the story associated with the notification. And as noted by others, this app is slow.

I give it 2 stars because there are words on the app, but these guys failed to test it for usability. Its difficult to navigate within a ssection, search function is weak, presentation is poor. All in all, a very bad app. I can be reached for consulting and advise. Statesman content is good. You should try to put together a presentation layer that is worthy of the content. ...a month later decided 2 stars is far too generous. Making this now a 1. Wish i could make it a 0. Uninstalling.
Used the ios version which almost mimics the actual paper with the content and presentation. This is a simple news feed app like everyone else. Can't find the papers' actual articles. Only works in portrait mode. What's the benefit in subscribing?
For a newspaper in a tech city, this mobile app should be an embarrassment. Rarely, if ever, does the app work beyond 1 story. Stories are repeated 3, 4 and 5 times. There's basically NO redeeming quality to this app.
Terrible! Only some stories or sections show up. Not worth downloading! Very unimpressive for such a prominent city! Internet news should be a higher priority. C'Mon Statesman Execs. Show some leadership!
Without question, the most irrelevant app I have ever downloaded.
Important local news doesn't even show. I'm sure as heck not depending on statesman for national news. Boggles the mind what they are thinking with such a crummy app.
Doesn't work.
I love the app is very informational
Cumbersome and difficult to navigate
I can only see the first batch of stories. When I scroll further down, nothing loads.
How in hell does anyone get this thing to work?
Love it.
Would be nice if it actually worked consistently...will keep it a while to see if they can fix it...if not, uninstall.
I've got a subscription and would like to have an ad free version. What I've seen advertising is junk anyway. And it just crashed. Guess I'll wait for someone better.
Every time I open it.
There is no Exit to this app. Also app says today's top news story is "Pets of the Week: June 14, 2015". Really?
Love the new design and the options for customizing your news and notifications separately.
Crashes frequently. You start to read a story and then it crashes and turns off. Then you have to start at the beginning paging all the way back through all articles to where you left off. Several times I couldn't even relocate article I had attempted to read, which is super annoying.
I have this installed on my Google Nexus 10 tablet - it starts very slow and it is not responsive and would hang my tablet. I had to reboot my device to get rid of the screen. I need the stories but I have to wait a bit longer. I have seen the iPad version and it is much nicer and cleaner and more responsive :-(
Crashes so often I couldn't make it thru a complete story on my LG G3 Android. Uninstalling for now but willing to try it again later. I saw the potential. It just wasn't for very long.
Under the old app, I could select which sections I wanted to read and could find the Texas and Austin specific stories easily. Now I have to wade through a bunch of national news stories to find out what it's going on at legislature this session. Or just go to the Texas Tribune site. And it constantly crashes. Like I'm lucky if I can read a single story without it crashing. I'm uninstalling it as it's not worth the headache.
App provides no obvious way to exit. Covers the phones controls with ads.
Total waste of bandwidth. Crashes repeatedly. Hate that I had to give one star just because zero wasn't an option....
Title says it all. One abend after another...
Cannot get app to work on Galaxy Note 4 with Android 5.0.1. Completely unusable. Given that this is supposed to work as part of my paid newspaper subscription, I'm ready to cancel.
New live app has no index, continually freezing phone, and stories not there when you do get the app to open
Sluggish. Blacks out. Messed up wallpaper.
Slow to start
Previous "Breaking News" App was stable and rarely crashed. I have never been able to get this one to work. Have tried several times to uninstall then reinstall with no luck.
