LG TV Remote 2011 for Android
Before this new update everything is working fine but now the app doesn't recognize the tv. I can access the network because I can browse thebapps and internet from the tv.
I fixed mine (tho no response from LG). The app force closed on startup every time after update. Go to Settings/Applications/Manage Applications and select the app. Hit the "Clear data" button. After that my app worked. This should happen with the app update, or at least be in comments. Original> New update deserves zero since it won't even open. Before the "upgrade", I used this more than any other app. If its due to not supporting the HTC EVO, a heads up in the "Whats New" section would have been nice.
Its the best remote app Ive found, set up within less than 60 seconds, easy to use, and works great.... only downfall are that it works thru having ur tv and phone on the same wifi and I like my phone on my actual phone network since I have soooo many devices already on the wifi. Works just as good as the motion wii style remote that came with my tv though.
Thank you LG. I have an LG 55" with a partially failed main board which made the conventional IR remote control useless. The repair man was asking 650AUD to replace the board (warranty expired). Now with this WiFi enabled app, I can re-enjoy my TV again.
This is another example of a lazy half a$$ developer app. Can any of you developers make an app WITHOUT issues. Its been out for over a year and still same issue. Can only connect once then issues occur not connecting anymore. Have to reset everything to get it to work. Dumb. why release something that dont work
At first I thought that this update didn't fix the issues with jellybean (no pairing key was shown), but after updating the TV (42LW6500-TA) to v05.00.07 the app is now working on my Nexus 7. Yay! But the problem now is that the TV update removed the EPG button from the home screen, meaning that if you want to access the EPG from either this app or the magic motion remote you now have to scroll to the right of the widget menus ... Grrr! Adding an EPG button to this app would make things easier.
Can't use the keyboard? Just put a button that gives you an alphanumeric keyboard so it can be used for Netflix and youtube. How basic is that? Pathetic LG.
This app can seriously use a makeover. Everything works but would like to have a setting that stops all haptic feedback
Does not recognise lg 42" smart TV although on the list and also on the 2011 version. Crap and waste of time!!!
When it works, this is a great app. Sadly though it will pair to the TV once and then losses the pairing next time I start the app. Only way to get it to pair again is to reset the home network. If there was an option to set the TV IP then this surely wouldn't be an issue. As it is, this app isn't making my "Life Good"...
Was fine until update. Please fix. Thank you. Nice app when fixed though so don't be put off by this review. I'm sure it will be fixed soon
If you're router gets reset its a pain to get it to reconnect to the TV. It can't do much and if the TV is off you can't turn it on. Better then some but very limited in what it can do
Worked fine before now won't even find my LG TV on the network. Honestly do you guys even check these apps before you send out an update? If you would just provide a way to manually enter the TVs IP address then everything will be just fine. I know it's this poorly written app because everything else in my system that uses a remote app works perfectly. If I could give it zero stars I would. Update 8/8/2013 if I reset the TV it will connect but fails again when the TV is turned off/on. EPIC FAIL!
Pretty good remote with low lag. Only complaint is lack of obvious feature - the ability to turn off the TV! Instead, the only way seems to be to set the timer (lowest value is 10 minutes though).
Synchs great with the OEM motion remote dongle. Wish the volume and channel input elements are not a roller with inertia, but rather just plain buttons. Its really easy to overshoot channels.

Honestly this works quite well and is very useful, however one issue with it regards my TV itself. It seems as if you need to conduct a network test before attempting to connect with the phone application. Scanning before doing so yields no results, but scanning after a network test has the application successfully connecting to the phone.
The last update has fixed the issue of the app always forgetting my TV! So thank you for that! I'm glad to see that LG is still working on this app. There is still a crash bug on my S3 when the app is started before the TV is turned on... That really shouldn't happen. Hence still just 3 stars
For crying out loud why on earth would you add this feature when a button would've done just fine?? OR at LEAST give the option to disable. If I pick up my phone wrong, even with the app just open in the background, it will go to the premium menu. Extremely annoying when in Netflix etc, bc have to go back in. Also, my phone has a Shake to Open Camera function, which this app screws up and I end up at the premium screen (which is a useless screen BTW) when I just want to take a picture. Horrible design.
Lg remote TV app is not working on my lg nexus 4 having latest android is 4.2.2.. I'm using lg smart TV lv 5500... When I press connect.. It tries to pair up on TV.. But it shows up blank pairing key..LG developers plat take notice and fix this
Very disappointed bc I have 3 LG tvs and not one will connect to this and evenm when I install the LG remote 2011.. still nothing happened. .. I have a Samsung Galaxy S III... SO IM NOT SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS..
You obviously don't care about customer satisfaction or you guys would take care of the bugs. This app won't open a third of the time, won't pair a third, and partially works another third. Stop being lazy devs and update your stuff before we all decide to buy Sony products next time.
Why not having a single app for all LG tv's? I have 2011 model tv and can't start app! So if I buy 2014 model tv can I expect app to stop working in 2017? Sorry LG but I will be buying a brand that support own models for longer than 3 years!
This app is great when it works, but will not consistently connect. It will pair ok, but then if I need to go back to pause my programming anything else, It will no longer pair, saying both devices need to be connected on same IP Address, which they are. Very frustrating. Please fix this. Otherwise great app for the times it has worked.
Mainly was looking for an app that could chnage channels and turn volume up and down. This has a touch pad for the premium feature o. The tv, which is great because using the regular remote for that sucks. I was really just looking for an app that would let me prank my roommates without the spam. This is it.
Shake for premium doesn't work. It would be better if there were a button for premium.
Works perfectly fine on my tv. The only thing is that there is no power button so minus one star. It's so much easier to control with a mouse on the app than it is using the remote. For some reason when you search for something there is a lag after you enter every key but with the app there is no lag!
If you put in a name just nothing happens. Nothing works right, it is a winner the app does not crash all the time. LG strikes again "life's good"...what a joke
IT HAS NO PROB! u guys didn't even try it u just wrote a comment before u got it hahaha incredible Work I hate the other version doe
Dunno why but the first version of this app works just fine with my tv but but but..... This one won't even find my TV can't get past first step. So the first one great this one lame.
But no dedicated power button on my note 4. Have to turn tv off manually.
My family's TV: LW5700 42 inches *type whatever you want directly and smooothly on your phone instead of using the default remote
LG abandoned the 2011 tvs and never finished developing this app. This became one of the many lies LG put on the TV box. They should probably be sued for false advertising. Much like the TV's lazily-written firmware, the remote app only works once in a while and multiple features are presented without actually being implemented. I have started development on my own proper version of this app. It is so sad that a customer has to do this.
Despite of many tries to make it work, wired/wireless tv connection and deep dive into my router configuration, finally nailed it. My ISP changed my router, and I don't know why, paired my TV. So for all the people trying to make it work, for sure the issue is the router configuration. Good luck!
I also had a lot of problems syncing the app with the TV and when that worked, it would stop working the next day. In my opinion the problem is not with the app (or my network), but with the TV. I have several DLNA servers in my network. The TV should always show DLNA as in option in the Input menu, but it doesn't 9 out of 10 times (rough estimate). When I go to the settings of the TV and let it test the network, sometimes the DLNA option becomes available (otherwise retest the network) and that's the moment that the app is also working for me. So LG should fix the firmware of the TV! And for the people that think it's a configuration problem in my network, my Yamaha receiver has no problems at all with the network remote app.
I have a dual band router. Works okay in 2.4 GHz kinda buggy but eventually works. But in 5 GHz mode it doesn't connect to the TV. Back to the drawing board LG.
EDIT: got it to pair by selecting hdmi input on tv first (even if nothing's connected). ORIGINAL: I have a TV model listed in the supported models. The app once worked but not any more. Maybe the TV software updated and broke it. Anyway, it no longer connects.
I like it when it works, but it wont find my tv most of the time, and every time i use the app it resets to defaults and has to search for the tv again. wish i could enter the TV IP address into the program so it would just find it everytime.
again another lg tv app that doesnt work!! really a big company like lg cant make an app that works!,

The app is not working properly on GS7 the volume and channel button does not work, an update would be needed on it, I wish the interface was more up to date, granted my TV was bought a couple years back but it's still very good and it's not like a smartphone that you change every year so keeping the app updates should be a priority for your guys at LG.
