What are users saying about Clever Commute

by D####:

Real-time info shared by active commuters and admins. The updates help me plan alternate routes and alleviate stress when NJTransit fails us. The more concise, the better!

D70%
by D####:

Great app for commuters in NYC, really helpful when there is a big problem on the rails, also good to see pattern of smaller issues. No better source then your fellow commuters!!

D70%
by D####:

Tells me what I need to know from riders on the scene.

D70%
by D####:

Takes the anxiety out of my commute ... well at least the controllable anxiety

G70%
by G####:

When you are waiting endlessly for your train and there's no announcement, you can't post anything that reflects your frustration as every post is censored.

D70%
by D####:

Keeps me up-to-date on what's happening on my train line, NYP and PATH troubles.

O70%
by O####:

Great app - can be trusted no matter what NJTransit tells you!!

D70%
by D####:

I like it more now that it doesn't require the GPS to be on to send an alert.

D70%
by D####:

MetroNorth doesn't tell you what's going on. Clever Commute does.

E70%
by E####:

Use it every once in a while. Don't want to pay for of the info offered.

T70%
by T####:

Annoying sign - up problems for an established subscribed email address that wasn't recognized.

S70%
by S####:

Signed up with username and password and when prompted to log in keep getting email or password invalid. So I clicked the forgot password and it said my email is not registered. Do the whole win on process again. Says my email is already in use. Must be a bug in the system

This was recommended to me after the Hoboken crash. Barely could get my account together. My alternate lines don't exist. Doesn't really help if you need to make adjustments to your commute. The bus lines I need aren't there. Seems like it would be useful if more people used it.

Y70%
by Y####:

The Clever Commute app has saved me time and stress more times than I can count. Easy way to see what's happening on the daily commute.

R70%
by R####:

Would be nice if there was less wasted space per message, text based location line without clicking through the icon, comment threads, a karma system that all users can see and not just the admin, the ability to easily browse/research other commutes beyond 3, & full history. It would be nice if the features of their web based product were integrated into the app.

Y70%

This service is a game changer for commuters. I recently did the math and I saved nearly 50 hours this past year alone thanks to Clever Commute alerts. That's 50 hours I was able to spend with my wife and kids.

Y70%
by Y####:

LOVE it. I'm near 3 stations on 2 different lines and this app helps me plan on a daily basis. Thank you!!!

E70%
by E####:

Can't say enough good things about this concept and the app. Nicely implemented idea and the quality of the shared information really helps understand the day's commute and be able to plan alternatives on the really bad days. The developers are responsive to any issues and quick to fix.

Y70%
by Y####:

I use this app every day for near 50 mile bus commute between central NJ and Wall Street, NYC. Highly recommend it for other commuters interested in knowing minute to minute commuter issues. There is usually no better source.

M70%
by M####:

This app works very well. Any bugs it had have been addressed. This is my go to app for rail communication - it's saved me headaches more than once.

Y70%
by Y####:

Makes my commute easier.

Y70%
by Y####:

If you take the train or the bus, this app is a must.

D70%

Very nicely implemented.

First of all this is a decent app, but it needs a lot of inprovement. The user interface is the worst of any app that you have ever used. the app is also a lot buggy. It won't let you scroll up and down and go back to the menu. Also 90% of the time you are unable to send notifications. They should make the app in such a way that everyone can see the alerts by selecting a area instead of just viewing the alert for their own route. App needs a lot of improvement and could be lot better by hiring good staff.

Y70%
by Y####:

Otherwise the app is great. But I have to stop and back up a step to read what I've written on my Galaxy 5S before submitting.

D70%
by D####:

I get messages but I can never send one.

Y70%
by Y####:

As users post useful alerts, two censors, founder and CEO Josh Crandall and his "algorithm", read every one like the worst battle-axe school marm, censor it and count your "violations". Not just name calling, useful facts perhaps a little less than rosy: many buses/trains missing, nasty drivers/conductors, or long waits and overcrowding. Too many VIOLATIONS and you're blocked. Forever! And the app itself is clumsy as hell (oops, bad word!). Commuters: just move on...

Q70%
by Q####:

Seems like a good app but it isn't as useful as the old email system. For example, I can choose Coach -East Brunswick as the line, but I can't choose East Brunswick as the starting point. That's ridiculous on its own, but the fact that there is ONE destination in NEW YORK CITY is just sad. I'm a downtowner and interested in the Wall Street line NOT the Port Authority. How can you justify not including the Wall and Crosstown lines in the biggest city in the area and yet include little mom and pop stops?

A70%

Part 1) I couldn't even install the app and I'm on a new Samsung Galaxy s5. The silly registration page asks for your continent, then doesn't even let you pick north America!!!! It's a shame because the clever commute emails truly were helpful. Uninstall.... Part 2) Developers what's the recco? How would you help rectify a messed up registration process?

M70%
by M####:

The whole point of the service is to provide alerts to commuters. I received the email alerts perfectly fine on my android wear device - no need to take my phone out of my pocket while en route to train station. App notifications do NOT work with android wear, making me dread the day the email service is turned down for good.

3 x it's changed to NJ info in my profile even though I live in CT and never entered NJ info. Very disappointed.

M70%
by M####:

A great entry into crowd sourcing data about commuting. There are a few issues that, once resolved will make it 5 star: 1) more covered NJTransit Bus routes, 2) some UI/UX work as the interface is a bit clunky, 3) push notifications for selected routes. All in all, I would still recommend it and am anxiously waiting to review this up to 5 stars. Go Clever!

Helped me last night when I would not have been aware of massive NJT issues. I was able to leave work early and get home at a decent time.

Q70%

Would really appreciate a paid option for those who only use transit once in a while. I only go to NYC for fun and use the free version, but would pay for more features if their was a less expensive option that let me only use it once in a while as to not hurt profit from other paid subscribers.
