- 전시개요 :
이화여자대학교박물관은 개관 80주년을 맞이하여 소장품 특별전 를 마련했습니다. 우리 박물관 소장품 가운데 가장 많은 비중을 차지하는 장르가 도자이며 그 가운데 조선시대 백자는 15세기부터 19세기에 이르기까지의 흐름을 보여줄 수 있을 만큼 다양합니다. 출품 유물도 600여 점 이상으로 1, 2층 전관에 전시하게 되었으니 단일 백자 전시로는 국내 최대 규모가 될 것이라 생각합니다.

조선 초부터 말까지 관요백자를 중심으로 제작되었던 의례용 기물, 연향용 용준龍樽, 왕실용 명문 백자들을 선보이는 “조선왕실과 백자”, 출생과 죽음을 함께하는 의례기로 제작되었던 태호胎壺, 제기, 고족접시, 명기와 묘지 등이 전시되는 “백자에 담긴 출생과 죽음”, 성리학적 이념을 실천했던 문인들의 가치관과 미감을 볼 수 있는 “문인문화의 유행”, 장수와 행복을 추구하는 다양한 길상문이 시문된 백자들을 전시한 “무늬로 보는 상징과 의미”와 더불어 관요 외에 지역의 특색이 반영된 “지방백자”의 단면도 드러내어 비교하는 내용으로 구성하였습니다. 이 외에도 국보 107호 는 단독 전시하여 특별한 감상의 공간을 마련하였으며, 설명적 전시 외에 최신 매체를 통한 심도 있는 관찰의 기회를 제공하고 박물관을 방문하는 많은 청소년과 일반 관람객의 지적 학습의욕을 돕기 위한 자료전시 공간도 함께 준비하였습니다.

《조선백자》전을 통해 500여 년간 조선이 추구했던 왕조의 이념과 예제 준행의 실천과정에서 만들고 진설했던 백자의 결백하고 견실한 격식과 상층부에서부터 민간에 이르기까지 애호하고 실용했던 풍부한 조형미를 살펴볼 수 있을 것이며, 개관 80주년 이화여자대학교 박물관의 연구 성과와 수집의 방향도 함께 보여드릴 수 있을 것입니다.
