정진원에게 액체와 같은 유동성의 물질을 어떠한 방식으로 구상화하여 형상화 하는가는 작가가 자신의 작업을 통해 표현해야 할 과제일 것이다.
전시에서, 얇고, 압축된 filaments와 같은 백색 및 유색으로 표현된 porcelain작품들이 각각17개의 조형물로 형상화 되어 보여지고 있다.

구상을 향한 백색의 의지는 회화나 드로잉 같은 의미로, 서울 태생의 작가는 (그는 한국에서 학사 및 석사학위를 마친 후 뉴욕주립대 New-Paltz에서 수학했다) 물방울을 암시하는 듯한 도넛 또는 올챙이형상의 작품들을 제작하였다. 전시되고 있는 작품들은 2-6인치 크기로 벽으로부터 돌출된 각각의 독립된 유리판 위에 설치되어있다.
주의 깊게 구성되고, porcelain으로 이루어진 섬유질의 올과 같은 작품들은 고온으로 번조되어 제작되었다. 독립적으로 깨지기 쉽고 약해 보이는 표면은 상호간 맞물리며 연동되어 강인함으로 변형되었다.

작가의 액체에 대한 배명(拜命)에도 불구하고, 작품들은 다른 형상으로 보여 지기도 한다. 해양식물, 미생물, 수생 유기물 등의 느낌이 그것이다. 휘어진 종속물 등은 작업 속에서 언급 되어지는 다른 생존형태인 곤충, 무척추생물 등의 정방형, 날카롭게 찢겨진 천구의 형상과 이어져 있다. 보다 다색의 작품 중 하나는, 분홍의 애벌레와 같은 형상으로 백색의 계란형상의 작품으로 기어가고 있다. 작품을 수용하던 작품에 포용되던 작은 스케일의 작품임이 주는 결과물은 역동적이다. 무제로 명명된 작품은 각 부분들이 대략 3인치의 길이로 구성되어있다.

Trace Ⅱ(2003) 전시에서 전시장의 열린 중심에 설치된 Tails라 명명된 작품은 그 여운을 공간으로 화장시키고 있다. (혹은: Trace Ⅱ(2003) 전시에서 전시장의 열린 중심에는 설치된 작품의 꼬리들이 그 여운을 공간으로 화장시키고 있다.) 굽이치는 열 속에 같은 크기의 형상들이 순차적으로 앞으로(혹은 : 공간 속으로) 향하고 있다, 그러나 Porcelain (백토)로 이루어진 형상들은 흑색, 분홍, 그리고 노란색으로 부분이 분류되어 채색되어있다. 줄무늬 형상의 작품은 매우 세련된 형태의 산호뱀을 연상시킨다. 정진원은 구상적인 형상을 표현하지 않는다. 그러나 보여 지는 모든 작품 속에서 강렬함으로부터 오는 자연주의적인 암시적 여행을 보여준다.

What Jung Jin-won to shaping and visualization of material flow, such as a liquid in any way would be to challenge the artist to express through their work.
