Master the 99 characters in Level 1 of the Youth Chinese Test (YCT) with the Xiezi Chinese Character Trainer app from Clavis Sinica. The app uses attractive stroke animations to show you how each simplified character is formed, one stroke at a time. It then invites you to practice writing the character yourself on the touchscreen, and gives you immediate feedback on every stroke you draw.
Three different learning modes--Train, Drill, and Test--take you from your first encounter with each new character through systematic writing practice to a thorough mastery of the character's structure and stroke order.
Additional features include audio voice prompts for each character, a Missed Character List to help you review difficult characters, and an alphabetized character index.
This version of the app includes the complete set of 99 characters required for level 1 of the YCT Chinese language test, the leading standardized assessment exam for children studying Chinese. No matter how I rotated my tablet the app wouldn't show properly. I could not scroll. I could not even back out of the application.

I really like this. It was helpful immediately. I have been teaching myself to write characters and I thought I understood stroke order but in some cases I was doing it wrong. This makes it SO easy to get it right!

Best writing app on Android imo. Many options available to foster learning from beginner to advanced. It's beautiful, meditative, and fun. If the character base were to go up, and the developer doesn't get skritter greedy with monthly subs, this app and others from this developer, will steal skritter customers, and alleviate the need for an apple product. For that this developer has my appreciation.

I've used many apps to learn to write Chinese and so far this one is the best! It is progressive and you can learn to write 100 characters.

Seemed to work fine on my gingerbread phone. It tests you on proper strokes to write about 100 different characters. Nothing fancy, but it does a great job doing what it does.

In order to increase your vocabulary in Chinese, I think it's important to practice writing. This app is great for learning to write the characters. Also, you can hear the correct pronounciation. The only thing that bugs me is that it tells me I didn't get the stroke right if I'm slightly off.
