FAQ:
What is Anki Aniki?
Anki Aniki is a tool for learning the kanji that appear in the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT). It covers all levels from N5 to N1.

What isn’t Anki Aniki?
Anki Aniki is not for learning vocabulary or grammar. It is strictly a tool for learning kanji.

Is Anki Aniki affiliated with AnkiDroid?
No. This app is not in any way affiliated with AnkiDroid/Anki.

How does it work?
Anki Aniki uses a Spaced Repetition System (SRS) to train your brain into memorizing kanji on a long-term level. Each day, you will learn 5 to 20 new kanji which you will be quizzed on. If you answer incorrectly for an item, it will show up sooner on a following quiz. Conversely, if you answer correctly on an item it will be longer before you see it again. The more you answer an item correctly without getting it wrong, the less frequently it will appear - until you have it completely memorized.

What are the prerequisites?
Anki Aniki assumes that you know hiragana. You will be tested on how to read kanji, and romaji is not provided. Realistically, you should not be attempting the JLPT or even learning kanji before you have mastered hiragana, anyway!

How Long Does It Take?
Learning takes time. Learning kanji (there are a lot of them) takes a long time. At minimum, it takes at least one and a half months for Anki Aniki to mark a learned item as memorized. To memorize all of the kanji in Anki Aniki it can take as little as 150 days or as much as 2 years depending on your ability and your ambition. Don’t let the numbers discourage you, though. It’s not a race. The main goal is retention.

It's free and simple and it gets the job done. You learn at your own pace and that's comforting. However, I wish there were examples of each reading for the kanji so we could better understand how they're used. Like an option to see different words that use the kanji in different ways. That would be really helpful.

There are 45 same Kanji meaning Turtle or Tortoise, and 45 same Kanji meaning rainbow, then 45 same Kanji for Boar. There are also bug, like taking a long for quiz. I have been using this for almost one year, so please fix it.

lots of common readings missing; also many unused readings included. it helps to assume reading order is right to left, but that's not consistently follwed. too bad, because app has potential.

- import does not work for secondary users. - quiz hangs on older devices, loses progress. I was rather satisfied with the app until I had to move my installation to a secondary user on my tablet. Importing the progress shows that it has finished, but in fact nothing is imported, because it imports it for the primary user - who doesn't even have it installed. Another problem is that the app isn't really optimized and utterly fails on older devices. I am now stuck on a 101 kanji quiz which I can't finish - the app either crashes in the middle of the quiz, or hangs for a while after submitting the answer for the last kanji.

I wish each kanji provided 2-3 word examples though.

There's better apps for learning kanji though. My favorite is asahi kanji, but only the first 200 or so kanji are free. And I don't like the color scheme. Bright pink is a little eh. There are also not many ways to customize and as far as I can see, if you already know a kanji, there's no way to stop seeing it until it's considered memorized on the app. But this app isn't bad. You can still memorize the kanji with it if you're not picky.

Amazing app. Definitely a must for nihongo learners everywhere. I've no problems with it except for a minor issue: when taking quizzes, the items come in the exact order they were introduced. I'm not sure if that intentionally helps the learning process, but it makes the quizzes a bit too easy.

I like that it's really go-at-your-own-pace. And it doesn't have any annoying notifications or other frilly, unnecessary add-ons. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because sometimes it won't keep track of time correctly if I don't exit it from the main screen. I'll finish the quiz, then when I open it the next day, it says I still have to wait another day for the next set. This could be worked around if there were a button to force it to give you the next set.

It will be better if there is a announced schedule based on repetition laws.

Just as the pc app it is so good on daily basis and it already comes with all kanji separated by level.
