Can I Stream It? for Android
Think of a TV Show or movie. Open the app. Search for the content. The app then informs you if the content is available to stream, rent, purchase, DVDs or Blueray, and Xfinity. Availability is indicated by the price or subscription type below the servicer logo indicating the service provides the searched content. If the service does not provide the searched content, a clock overlay is presented over the servicer logo and "n/a" below the servicer logo to indicate the service has yet to provide the content.
Was watching Doctor Who on Amazon Prime last night, decided to check something else. Nothing available for the show I wanted. Then decided to see what info it had for Doctor Who, and according to the app, DW isn't available on ANY streaming service. Yet it IS. So why is the app showing the wrong info. The idea and concept is a great one, and would be very helpful.... if it was only correct. Sadly, I'm uninstalling. Would be easier to search on the streaming service itself.
It worked the first time I looked up a movie them it freaked out on me. I closed it and tried to start again. The app loaded fine, but I tried to search for another title and it never stopped searching. I tried a few times and unfortunately this app failed miserably. It's a great idea, I just wish it worked.
Doesn't give accurate information about what's available. Tried a few titles and it gives you the cover page of the movie, but everything regarding what's available and where is inaccurate. If it wants to be a real aggregator it needs to list a lot more apks than they do and they need to be accurate. Look for something better
This app stopped working on my Note 4 months ago. The searches were great, when I could get them. Now all that returns is a blank, black box with nice, filleted corners. No results, not even a notification that I get no results, even on movies shown in the home screen. I'm disappointed.
I've tested it with lots of titles that you can watch on the various streaming services. None of the titles I looked up showed up on the App as being available. While it was a great App in the past years it seems to have lived past it's time of usefullness.
This app claims to search the databases of the video streaming providers but apparently it doesn't do it very well because there are tons of movies available on Hulu Plus and Netflix that just simply do not show up with this app. So tell me What is is the use??? Do yourself a and download YIDIO.... It is everything this app wished it was.
I so wanted this app to work! It's such a need to avoid logging on to each of the streaming services to see who's got a particular movie at the moment. Sadly, I found it inaccurate most of the time. Don't bother with it.
It's a fantastic concept, but the user interface is rough. Icons are pixelated, load time is slow, and figuring out if a show is streaming is a process. If the design/functionality were a little more refined, I'd probably love it.
If there is a trailer for a movie (Mockingjay pt2, before it was released in theaters, for example) it shows as having the movie on Hulu. If there are later seasons (Survivor, for example) and you search S1E1, it says it's available on Hulu. S1 is *not* available on Hulu. As others have said, it also says things are not streamable when they are. There is no way to report errors or corrections and no way to contact the developers via the app.
All I see is n/a under every service. I have xfinity, Netflix, & amazon streaming so I did a test with a few movies that I know are available on these services, rental or streaming. Still got all n/a. Am I missing something?
It would be great if it did what it says it does for TV, but it rarely can identify shows that are available to stream. I can manually check Netflix and see that an episode is available to stream, but this app says it's not available even when it clearly is. Not useful.
It's got lots of room for improvement, but it's certainly worth having for FREE! I'm not sure how accurate their availability & prices are, but now I don't have to lookup this info on a website -- Yeah, there's an App for that too!!
This app is mostly broken. Popular, current, classic, and widely known shows and movies are coming as "N/A" for streaming on ALL of the listed streaming services. The update log says this app hasn't been touch by Can I Run It since late March of 2015. It's really hurting their Playstore ratings. I will edit this if an update is implemented. (Galaxy Note 4.) Shows/Movies I tested: Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, New Girl, My Name is Emily, Modern Family, Zoolander, Interstellar, etc...
Inaccurate (found only 3 of 10 searches that actually exist in Netflix/other services) and needs too many permissions(why does it need access to my files and identity??) for doing searches.
This app isn't accurate. I.e. "Sex and the City" is available to stream on Amazon Prime, however this app shows it not available to stream anywhere. This is one of many many examples. App was last updated on March 22, 2015. App seems to no longer be in development. Switched to a different app called Just Watch.
Good idea, poorly executed. It's not entirely accurate either, unfortunately. After many errors in movie availability, I don't trust it. The search feature is not executed well. Names of movies have to be exact matches or you won't get any results.
App doesn't work at all. Even tried searching for a movie listed on the screen as being on netflix...app found nothing. No matter what I searched for I got a blank screen.
Can I stream (insert a movie title)? The app says "NO", but Netflix and Amazon say "YES". Can I stream (insert TV show)? The app says "I will show you nothing but a blank page with an empty black box from now on". When it bothers to work at all, it is horribly inaccurate. Don't waste your time on this.
It would be very cool if it worked, but it doesn't. I looked up three series I currently see as available on Netflix but they appear as N/A on all services on this app.
It is routinely wrong. Often things I know for sure are available on any streaming service shows "unavailable". I subscribe to almost everything and an app like this would be really valuable. Unfortunately, it doesn't deliver as advertised.
The app is pretty accurate but, occasionally is wrong. I looked up the first episode of a first season of the show Rosanne and the app said it was not available anywhere. Upon a further look Netflix had all seasons streaming. Take this with a grain of salt as this was a year or two ago.
App will say a TV show or movie is not available on Netflix, Amazon prime, or xfinity... yet I'm watching the show/movie, or its in the list (free - not as a rental). Gave it a 2nd star because the user interface is simple and easy to navigate.
I tested it immediately, by searching the documentary i was watching which had been on hulu for months now and Netflix.. It showed unavailable lol
I typed in 6 movies available on Amazon, this app showed none were available. A couple stars because it's a great idea!
I was excited by the idea - trying to cut the cable cord. But nearly everything I search for, even Amazon series I have watched, turn up as Not Available.
Every single option is marked N/A even though manually searching through each of the available options shows that it is always available somehow. Not sure what the point of the app is if I still have to look on Netflix/Amazob/Hulu myself.
The idea is great and I've used the website many times. The app however is clunky and unreliable. I'll keep it to see if it gets updated but it's not a go to or must have app yet.
Used to be somewhat useful, but lately I'm not getting anything useful from it, just ads. Wish the search would execute from the enter/ return key on the keyboard, rather than entering a useless carriage return.
Unfortunately, the listings are not always accurate, and if you can't trust it to tell you something is available then what's the point? Fantastic idea, hope it is improved.
I was using this and not getting hits on anything. Being a subscriber to Netflix, I tested it out on TV shows like Columbo, forensic files...oldies but goodies. It ALWAYS says "NA" for EVERYTHING I search when the shows ARE AVAILABLE at least on Netflix
I have over 40 movies to be notified with by this app. Going on two years now it has never notified me of anything. Not only that, but the app crashes any time I actually try to add anything. Not a very useful app if I have to add via the browser.
I've never had glitchy issues like some other people, but I've had the app for nearly a year and I've noticed more and more inaccuracies as time goes on (says a movie should be on Netflix instant and it's not, etc). Would be nice if they'd add an easy way to report inaccuracies.
Wonderful idea (I Googled to see if there was such a service, which is how I found this app) but it is sadly garbage. Everything is listed as N/A, even a movie I am currently watching.
When searching for TV shows the results have been completely inaccurate. In fact, I searched for over a dozen shows I have watched in the last few days on various streaming services and all of them resulted in a result of "not available" for streaming or rental. Had 10 or more full screen ads pop-up in addition to the banner ads during that 20 minute search. Uninstalled, great concept but doesn't meet minimum expectations.
Everytime I find this app might be useful to save me time it says what I'm looking for isn't available on anything. Then I manually search Netflix, hulu, Amazon etc.. And voila there it is. I've waited almost a year for it to get better and it hasn't. Great concept, horrible execution.
Call the midwife has three seasons available on Netflix, but if you use this app, it will say not available. If you can't trust one, you can trust any. Worthless. Uninstall!
I was excited to try this app since I've looking for something like this for a while. The problem? It's just not very accurate. Did a few quick test. Looked up Friends, shows not available but it's Netflix. Looked up The Sopranos, shows only shows available on HBOGo even though it's on Amazon Prime. The hit and miss results are just not going to do it. It would be such a great app if it actually did what it claimed. I'd gladly pay for a ad-free version if it just worked.
I want to like this app. I applaud the developers for what they are attempting to do. But the execution is flawed. Either the data is outdated or simply wrong. I ran a test using a pair of movies from 2007-08 and the app was dead wrong on the availability of either one. Previous attempts to use the app for other titles have had equally inconsistent results, totally negating any use for it. I know now to double check any result, which renders this app useless. I will be uninstalling.

This was a useful tool for years, but now it doesn't seem to be supported or curated anymore. It's a shame because it was a great app. The best alternative right now is the recently updated Chromecast app which now lets you search for content, and lets you know where to find movies and shows. Although it doesn't include as many services in it's results as Can I Stream does (did).
