About Māori Keyboard App
This App is an extension of the Android softkeyboard, which uses 3 keyboard views. The “QWERTY” keyboard appears as the standard Android keyboard. However, the “SYMBOL” keyboard offers the characters required to enter text in the Māori language, including the vowels (a, e, i, o, u, ā, ē, ī, ō, ū), the consonants (h, k, m, n, ng, p, r, t, w, wh), as well as the high and low accents, the dash, and select punctuation. The “SYMBOL+SHIFT” keyboard offers the upper case versions of the Māori letters.
The Māori Keyboard App is based on the Android soft keyboard API 16. It should run on most Android devices with operating systems between 4.1.2 and 5.0 (including Jelly Bean, KitKat and Lollypop).
