Yellowstone Ntl Park: Chimani for Android
Not able to download large map (stalled for hours on preparing the map) and small map is useless. In such a form useless offline since it does not even remmber visited tiles.
Great looking app, but still over a year later(based on some other reviews), they have yet to resolve the offline maps download process. Makes it useless since there isn't any reception in the whole park.
This app is really cool, especially if you can hook the phone up to your car's audio system. It really added to our trip through Yellowstone, and will help with planning our next tour. The map got a little buggy from time to time - but my only real problem was that I kept draining my battery exploring this app and forgot my car charger!
enough detail that it eliminates need for park brochures. nicely put together with leave no trace as a significant part if each park's app.
Try using your phone's magnifying feature to zoom in the map better. Continual improvements and this is a real winner
Planning a trip to Yellowstone. I can't imagine trying to plan our visit without this app. Everything you'd want in one app.
great information to use for preparing for a trip to the greatest national park.
It seems OK, but has absolutely nothing on winter touring! No section on snowshoeing, skiing, etc. Trip planning (after selecting starting date in winter) recommended staying in campsite which was closed!
Would be helpful if the maps could be enlarged a little to read the names
Can't wait to be there and be able to use this app in real time.
Worked great even offline. Loved the app
Speaking as one who knows every square inch of Yellowstone Nat. Park, I'd say that this app is excellent. It presents many of the hiking trails and it's loaded with stunning photos to stimulate one's enjoyment our nation's parks. I've downloaded several other of the apps and each app has a consistent user interface. Likewise, if you have a question or concern, the developers are very responsive. You'll like and you won't be disappointed.
I've been using this all week. I get no cell signal in the park, but the app works. Downloading the offline maps works, checking in, browsing locations, looking up restrooms, camp sites, picnic areas, etc. Everything worked great. It was fun keeping track of where I've been and what I've done. I liked the app so much, I downloaded their other National Park apps. I only wish they had apps for other parks like Crater Lake, Mount Rainer, North Cascades, Joshua Tree, Great Basin and Death Valley! Top rate app!!
Great looking app, but still over a year later(based on some other reviews), they have yet to resolve the offline maps download process. Makes it useless since there isn't any reception in the whole park.
Great app....
Downloaded app and content and everything appeared to work fine last week. Get to YNP and all it will do is crash. This app is useless.
As title. I downloaded the map for two days, and it's just not working. The app only shows "Preparing to download map" and that's it. No bar or any sign of progress.
I was able to do this before the recent update, but now just hangs on the "updating data" message. Please fix this!
A must have
This app can be useful but be sure that all the offline maps are downloaded before heading for Wyoming. Data connectivity in the park is almost non existent. The maps are not great but the info. Presented in the app is helpful. Worth it, but just barely
Looks good so far, but can't find AP for the updates.
Maps have poor functionality and appearance, and large percentage of info is basically stolen off NPS website. Not worth the money or the download.
The level of detail for finding trails and attractions is great, if only the maps function didn't crash within a couple minutes of flitting around once it is launched. The problem with the non-existent "Airmail" package it wants to download still exists, as mentioned by a previous reviewer. Looks like this app has a lot of potential, once they manage to get it stable enough that it will work for more than 2 minutes without crashing.
GPS and map did not work for me at all. Zooming in did not work either. Some content had to be downloaded after the application was installed, so not exactly 100% offline after installation. The only information that was useful for me was the hiking and drives parts, rest was not that useful as you can get it from the website. I expected more, to be honest.
Boiling River mapped in totally wrong place. Wasted an hour of driving. Maps crashed when zooming. Best used as a supplemental map. Not your only information.
It keeps trying to install "airmail" from play but it doesnt exist.
Great app....
Would be a good app if the maps would download. After numerous attempts and hours of trying to download the maps so I could use them in Yellowstone ( where they would be useful) I have given up . Good idea just poor execution.
If you want an all-around app to tell you about Yellowstone road closings, stores, and and many useful tips this is the app for you.
Best Yellowstone app that I've found so far
Lots of good information!
Nice idea, but absolutely no reason for the map download to be so painful - had 2 phones trying to do it simultaneously and after 2 full days trying to make it happen finally just gave up.
Spent 24 hours trying to download maps, after it finished it restarted the download for who knows why. Rating just two stars to help me plan. Five if I could use it in Yellowstone.
This app has everything you need for a great trip. Removed one star because the map download takes forever, but once complete, they don't have too be downloaded again. There is no cell coverage at all in most of the park, so the offline maps are a must.
Lots of info all in one easy to use place!
We are planning a trip in September and wanted offline maps. Read previous reviews about difficult & slow download times. I did it overnight & it did take most of the night to download. Make sure your phone is plugged in. This is the most extensive & through app.
Fix issue with map download. Kept overnight still it was 89%. When tried to re-download, it shows 12%. Best part of app is offline map, which is so hard to download. With the bandwidth I have, it should not take more than 10 secs.
If you are going anywhere away from the three places in Yellowstone that have cell access, this app will let you down. The map download just hangs.
After trying repeatedly to download the maps for offline use I'm pretty much ready to uninstall this app. My understanding is that cell/data coverage is sparse to non-existent in Yellowstone, so I wanted the maps for my upcoming trip. Unfortunately I'm not even sure how large the map files even are, I'm only guessing that the number given is in kb, making it about 80MB, no big deal. I finally decided to try downloading via 4G, figuring that's faster than the wi-fi at home. It was moving any faster, so I gave up. The app used nearly 50MB of data, yet when I check the app settings, the app is only about 20MB, and the data files are less than 3MB. What was is downloading if it wasn't the map files? Absolutely worthless to me at this point, and I had such high hopes for it. Figured I would keep trying to download the maps since I have some time before my trip. It downloaded all night, and several hours into the day, and it keeps the screen on, but don't dare turn it off or the download stops. It finally got to 59%. The network connection was lost, which meant that I had to go back in and try to download again. Where does it resume? 18%. Seriously, what's with that.

Whenever I try to download the large map the app crashes. Two star is for the other info that it still contains.
