Chiltern Railways for Android
This app, aside from being 10 years out of date, cynically tries to lead you to expensive fares... No attempt to help you find the best fares.
Does not give me the cheapest fare option when travelling East Malling to Victoria on a weekend. It omits the first class super off-peak 1 day return.
It does the job, and is great way of finding platform numbers before they're announced, but it lacks basic functionality. The back options (phone key and in app) take you back to the main screen rather than the last screen. If you check a departure board once, it's added to your list with no way of deleting or rearranging them. You can't even have an electronic copy of your season ticket on there. Also suspiciously lacking in information whenever there's train problems, but I suspect that's not the app.
The app is extremely hard work as a way of buying tickets - does not retain any data or allow you to stay logged in. I think there are around 10 stages in a simple return ticket purchase. Needs some work
Great for catching trains at the last minute by using platform info. I would give it 6 stars if it told me when I was going to arrive after I was on the moving train. The in-app ticket purchase works fine thanks to patient ticket barrier staff when the scanners are broken but that's not the fault of the App.
Installed this as pricing changes have forced me to use a season ticket; it would be extremely useful to have that on my phone rather than carrying it separately and having to fish it out multiple times each journey. However, it doesn't seem to be possible to have the season ticket on the app. Poor.
Chiltern makes me pay to leave my car. Why can't I book that with the rest of the ticket?
and no need to nominate a specific ticket machine
This train is very nice staff is nice I always have a great journey with them.
Works fine for me
Doesn't show me the timetable and doesn't find my trains. Had to use the website (mobile version of site doesn't work properly either!)
In some ways it seems basic. But i like that. Who needs fancy when result you want a simple way to book tickets and see live train information. It provides that very well
Looks like you've moved the terms & conditions...
Buy all my train tickets through this app now, so well designed, makes it really easy. Couple of feature suggestions: enable copy and paste on the reservation code on the ticket page, or, even better, have a way of adding the journey to Google calendar, including the reservation code
Frequently fails to show updates for my local station - just get a Sorry! pop message. Absolute garbage.
From buying tickets on the go to checking arrival times, this a brilliant app. Like having a ticket office art your fingertips
Brillient app
...their train service was as good as their app. I haven't tried the digital tickets, but the app itself is very good. I've never had a problem with it, as far as I can recall.
Doesn't have Oxford parkway
I would give it 5 stars but it won't highlight the next train if it's within 10 mins. This has caused me to miss a train and is extremely annoying!!!!!!
Crashes every time I open it now. Tried uninstall/reinstall.
Brillient app
Very well designed and usable.
Works perfectly for buying tickets
Can't purchase the ticket
Whilst good for speed the app does not signpost to group save tickets so does not offer the cheapest ticket in all cases!!
Great for seeing which platform at Marylebone ahead of the main board.
The app works well for ticketing and train times. The downside is the barcode does not work at London Marylebone...so you have to find a member of staff to enter/exit.
... but sometimes it will take your money, give you a booking reference, but then not give you the ticket, meaning you have to go and apply for a refund, which takes around a month. In the meantime, you have to buy a paper ticket to make your journey. Have used it for a few months, but having to enter a lottery to see if you actually get a ticket or not every morning has prompted me to return to paper tickets for good. What a shame, because it could have been great.
Its always accurate and plans my journeys everytime.. :)
Great app pretty accurate
Much, much better after last update. Now uses android keyboard too. User experience far more pleasant. Good job!
why do chiltern and google play pretend this is compatible with android tablets?
Works, useful, but UI is primitive. Looks like a cheap literal port from RiM? E.g. why on earth implement your own clunky keyboard?
Used for over a year, this version gave a bad collect code, it was Hell. Help email bounced.
Latest update is great. Now native app. My no 1 essential app, provides very quick easy information. Must have for any commuter.
Useful to quickly check train departures. Only issue is that once train has left you can't see the journey details for it on the live departure board, so once on it you can't see when it arrives. Well done Children Trains for free wifi.
Not showing on xoom tablet!
Much improved, most previous issues resolved in last update. Still want transfer to SD and better (email) receipt process.

Let down by not being able to delete favourite stations or journeys from Live Train Info. It is not a slick app, the navigation is clunky and despite being logged in, it does not auto fill any fields. I use the app daily because the information is useful, just need to finish it.
