About Warmly — An alarm clock

Hi everybody. We are not actively supporting Warmly. Thanks for all the emails, but unfortunately we are unable to continue development on Warmly.

— — — — — —

Warmly is a simple, friendly way to start your day.

Wake up gently with the calm sounds of weather and something you enjoy (like cooking breakfast, brewing coffee, or catching a plane). Just set the time you want to get up and Warmly will plan ahead to make stepping out of bed enjoyable.

A few minutes before your alarm is set to go off, Warmly will get the weather for your location and begin quietly playing ambient sounds. Warmly starts out silent and very gradually turns up the volume so you'll wake up naturally to the sounds of the day and the activity you selected.

Warmly is great as a motivational alarm clock that gets you out of bed naturally. Get a great night's sleep and wake up ready to do awesome things!

HTC USERS!!!

Some users have experienced issues with their phones not waking from sleep to allow the alarm to go off. You may want to set a backup alarm just in case for the first couple days to make sure your device isn't affected.

We're continuing to look into the issue. Thanks for your patience. If it continues to not work for you, email us at hello@chaoscollective.org

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT WARMLY

Warmly is unlike other alarm clocks; it's designed to be super simple and encourage healthy sleep habits.

– Warmly slowly fades in over 5 minutes. This is great to wake up to, but a bit tricky to test by setting the alarm a minute from now and tapping ok.

– Warmly has a persistent notification so you know when the alarm is set. This is the suggested android model for alarm clocks, but some may find it annoying. We're sorry.

***

HOW TO CHANGE FROM °F TO °C

When the alarm goes off, simply tap on the temperature to toggle between °F and °C. Presto! And your selection will be remembered for next time.

***

WARMLY FEATURES

– Select from 9 activity sound tracks to start your day: making breakfast, having coffee, cartoon news, working out, zen meditation, a cat, a dog, flying at the airport, and taking a train or subway.
– Press and hold on an activity to preview the track.
– Integrated local weather when your alarm begins to fade in.
– Slow wake-up gradually turns up the volume of weather and activity audio over time.
– Simple user interface makes setting the time and selecting activities fast and intuitive.
– Change between Fahrenheit and Celsius temperature view by tapping on the weather information.
– Vibration used as a last resort, in case you leave your headphones plugged in.
– 12-hour and 24-hour clock mode support.
– Snooze (9 min increments) while alarm is sounding.
– Nice to neighbors: auto-silence after 15 minutes of loudest alarm (in case you leave it on and aren't around).

Updated review: Snooze button working now on latest version, I use this app all the time now. The only thing I wish I could do is disable the persistent lock screen notification and alarm icon in the tray. Love the way the alarm wakes me up gently. I am far less tempted to snooze than with traditional alarm.

A great alternative to other alarms with electronic buzz. With the alarm I picked it started really silently with birds chirping and gradually got louder for five minutes. And for the sleepy, it has bells at the end of the track it plays. Million times better than its alternatives with crazy loud air raid sirens. I'd be happy to pay my share if you guys ever decide to continue working on it.

i used to struggle so much in the mornings - literally impossible to get out of bed. but now with warmly, i look forward to the mornings where i can wake up to the gentle om's and jangly bells, i can get out of bed straight away with no problems. highly recommend to anyone that struggles to get up in the morning.

This was my favourite alarm clock. Then it caused a black screen of death on Lollipop. The developers are no longer supporting it, so that bug will never be fixed. They should rather open source it, instead of just stopping development.

I like the idea behind this very much, I also like the sounds and the way it starts. My problem with this app is that it doesn't start at any hour I set.. be it in the morning or if I set it to start within 10-15 minutes. It does start if I set it now to ring in 5 minutes.. but only this way(if the phone is not in sleep mode I guess). Please let me know what I can do to fix this, I would happly rate the app with 5 stars if it worked. My phone is a HTC One V. Thanks!

Thank goodness for the time zone update. I just got woken up at the wrong time zone this morning. That was upsetting. Please have more options like having different timers, weekend mode, etc.

I70%
by I####:

Excellent app. The only bad thing is that you can only set one alarm (unless I'm missing something). Besides that, I couldn't say enough good things about this app.

P70%
by P####:

I only have in sound that works and it is very quiet. Other apps, including the pre installed one are much louder. Out of all the sound options only one actually works, the rest are silent. Bad app. Would not recommend

N70%
by N####:

Love the app... the only very annoying thing is that the hour changes itself after being selected already when you are scrolling the minutes and cross either the 00 or 59 mark which has caused an incorrect alarm setup more than once.

N70%
by N####:

The alarm starts 5 min before the set time to gently wake you up, so you dont get that terrible adrenaline rush from loud bussing alarms. Only reason it doesnt get 5 stars is because of the sound selection. The sounds that are there are great, but more would be better.

N70%
by N####:

No better way to wake up! But since I switched to a nexus 5 the audio has been jumbled up. Hopefully there's a fix in the works.

N70%
by N####:

Alarm doesn't go off at the specified time. Typically will go off about an hour or so later. Occurs on LG G4 and my ZTE

N70%
by N####:

What a great idea, too bad it did not work. Woke up late and stressed. I reset the alarm to check and I heard nothing. But I liked the sample chant enough that I would try it again if they fixed it.

N70%
by N####:

As someone who was born with a hearing problem, when I downloaded this app,I worried that it might not be loud enough to hear, but if you don't wake up to the noise you selected it starts to vibrate with a louder tune. Love that it tells me the weather.

N70%
by N####:

I guess this should get 1 star since its an alarm that only works sometimes but when it does work it is great. But you will need a backup alarm because often it goes off without any sound just the screen comes on. They don't support this app anymore either probably due to the disfunctional coding.

A70%
by A####:

Execution not so great. The sound effects could use some work and you can't really adjust anything other than the time and audio clip. I guess this app is no longer being developed, and I could set this up manually another alarm app, but would be nice to see someone take the concept further.

U70%
by U####:

This app was fantastic until this morning when I was rudely awakened by very loud fairground music instead of muffled radio sounds. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no resolution. This happens no matter what alarm type I select. Not great considering this is a paid for app.

Z70%
by Z####:

Unfortunately, Android 6's Doze-Mode suppresses Warmly's alarm, so be aware. It was my favorite alarm clock for some years, too bad it's no longer supported by the dev team. Thanks for the good time anyways, you can keep your 5 star rating.

J70%
by J####:

This really is cool but I can't turn of the icon in the bar and notification on the phone. Some people do not need constant reassurance an alarm is set. To bad this is no longer being updated. Thank you, it is a nice alarm.

U70%
by U####:

Perhaps because of Android update; don't know. Working fine now....OLD: I really like this creative alarm so was disappointed when I discovered it doesn't work on HTC phones overnight. But I discovered a workaround that will allow Warmly to work. HTC owners please try the following. Set an alarm with stock alarm for about 10 minutes before your Warmly is set to go off. Have the alarm play "silent" alarm tone and shut vibration off. The stock alarm will wake your phone up silently and allow Warmly to work.

It's very nice to wake up with this alarm, it keeps me in a good mood v when waking up, still it's a shame you can only set up 1 unique alarm and no multiple alarms for different situations/days.

U70%
by U####:

The alarm goes off as scheduled, but when I try to use my phone, it locks up in a black screen, and I have to restart the phone to be able to use it. I thought it was malfunction with my phone, but now with a new phone of the same model, and a significant other with the same phone WITHOUT Warmly, I'm pretty sure its the app. Bummer, as I really like the gentle wake-up.

N70%
by N####:

1. You have to keep the app open to hear rthe alarm. 2. If you're listening to music and the warmly alarm goes off, it just turns the volume of the music realllly loud, not playing the alarm sounds. 3. In order to set up the alarm, you have to scroll to the time you want to wake up at. You cannot type in the time.

U70%
by U####:

Doesn't matter what sound I choose to wake up to. First sound to come on when the alarm triggers is freaking birds. Why? I still use it because the sound gradually increases.

U70%
by U####:

Used to work great on my Galaxy S3, but on my Nexus 5x (Android 6), the alarm never triggers. API changed maybe? Tried reinstalling, but no joy.

U70%
by U####:

Recently, after turning of the alarm, if I don't kill the app, the next time I'll hit the home button I'll get a black screen and would have to restart my phone.

D70%
by D####:

Misbehaving with my luck screen. Phone not locking until I force stop app. In one touch alarm stops. Least a slide needed.

R70%
by R####:

Sadly, this app is no longer supported. Bummer. From the first day I used it, I knew I was going to wake up better. I have to be awake before the rest of the household, so regardless of how comfy my bed, at 5:00 I need to transform and roll out. Warmly really helped ease me into my day without the horrors of a traditional alarm clock, so I'm going to keep it on my device until it either stops working or I find a replacement. I'm sad to see it go. :/

There are audio quirks with particular android installs and settings would be awesome. I am hoping this project gets resurrected. It is so simple and easy to love!

I picked the radio but it played church bells or something, how come? It was great at waking me up but...

N70%
by N####:

After snoozing the alarm and then turning it off, within a few minutes it will freeze the phone at a black screen. The only resolution is to power cycle your phone. This only broke after the last update, and now The Chaos Collective is not updating the app! I reproduced this on 3 different phones: OnePlus One (CM11), Xperia Z3 Compact (KitKat), Nexus 6 (Lollipop).

N70%
by N####:

This is a great app but I could suggest some changes. First, every sound option seems to start with birds chirping which has trained me to wake up to birds outside my window even when the alarm is off. No more birds! Second, the yellow screen mimicking sunrise would be much better if it faded in taking about 30 seconds to reach full brightness. Third, the snooze screen could be a little darker and a shade of orange would be nice to mimic sunrise. Better yet, make all that customizable.

N70%
by N####:

This is a wonderful app but it needs improving - I'd like to see controls for volume and the length of time of each alarm phase. It would be nice if you could add custom sounds too.

Doesnt even work at all

G70%

I have it set to coffee music and get birds. No biggy, but who wants to get woken to jet noise or dog barking? There has got to be better tones. Otherwise great app and does not drain the battery like others.

O70%

it is still lack a lot of customization. But Its fine. At least I can wake up happily

Love the alarm tones of this app. But a major flaw is the app's inability to set different times on different days. So every weekend you have to change the alarm...

N70%
by N####:

At least for me. I have a nexus 5, and I get a lot of skipping sounds, like it's a broken record. I dunno. I like the alarms that do work, but I'll probably use something else.

Still, it is a great app.
