JUST NEEDS SUBTITLES PLEASE THEN I WILL GIVE FIVE STARS. OVER WISE ALL 4 APP IS GREAT. NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE ALL 4 APP. CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS APP IS ONLY RATED 2.8 STARS. IT HAS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE. AND ALL THE BOX SETS AND ALL THE WALTER PRESENTS WORLD DRAMAS. AND MORE ETC..... Also works great on my Samsung smart tv. ...

Content is never a problem with Channel 4/E4, my biggest issue is the adverts! With all other on demand services I use the adverts don't seem anywhere near as frequent or as long, to the point where I use my Sky Go app to watch C4/E4 content if I can and will only use the all 4 app if the programme isn't available on demand elsewhere. Please remember people like watching on demand to reduce ad times, and I don't want to watch an ad (which I can't skip) every 5 minutes!

It actually functions ok for me but the ads are unavoidable and often stretch for 3 minutes, making the app incredibly frustrating to use. I often give up and watch something on iPlayer instead. Update: now each attempt to play a programme gets a response of "Network error - please try again later". At the same time BBC iPlayer functions correctly. Think I'll give up on All 4 completely.

Programmes made unwatchable by adverts. It can take several minutes just to determine whether you've already seen a programme! Get rid of pre-programme adverts at least. And as if that weren't enough the app simply doesn't work half the time - currently I get all the ads but sound only on the programmes. Pathetic effort by people we might expect to do better.

Hands down the most frustrating app on my phone. Half the updates break the app, yet they're labelled as bug fixes. On my Oneplus X chromecast no longer works to play a programme apart from adverts!! Tried to chromecast from my laptop and NowTV box and guess what? Yes, adverts play but programme doesn't. How they can take government money and not deliver a proper service to the UK taxpayer is disgraceful. Even the ITV and C5 apps work!

Adverts work perfectly! But the programme keeps giving me a still picture but carrying on the noise, 10 times I have closed the app and rebooted it for it to do the same thing again and again, tried uninstalling and installing again and even tried different programmes! Useless

The ads are just ridiculous. I know you have to have them but it's like every three minutes with another advert that actually is longer than the tiny bit of programme you got to watch in between. One long one a the start, short one in the middle and long again at the end would be enough! In reply to the reply I received from all 4. Yes I am aware that's how it works for all non BBC channels but the amount of advertisements is the issue, not the fact that they are there all together. I watch programmes and I feel like all I do is watch adverts and I get frustrated and give up and watch them on a service that doesn't have them (like sky Q). Like I said, it's not about the content or the fact that you have to have them. It's the length and frequency that's annoying.

All 4 is by far the worst viewing experience and hands down the genuinely aweful on demand service out at this time. Whether on here or my playstation, it never works. Terrible. Worst app ever. Needs completely re doing. Go look at iplayer and take some notes and make something that actually works.

Recent updates have made casting better. The biggest issue I have is that some adverts are 5x louder than the shows. Why is there no consistency? I end up having to quickly mute the TV during ad breaks so I don't disturb the neighbours.

I regularly find that this App doesn't have subtitles/captions. I am hard of hearing so I'm unable to follow any TV series without them. For a long time I've been waiting in hope for them to be added too. There is plenty of TV to interest me on All 4 but I cannot give a good score to an App that is of little use to me.

Got this because I wanted to cast to my TV. It's working sometimes but mostly just plays the adverts and then black screens when it gets to the actual program. I have a new Samsung smart TV so I shouldn't need to use this but there isn't a version for my TV even though the website says Samsung TVs are supported

Reasonable app with good content and easy navigation. My issues at the moment revolve around audio syncing which is regularly going out of sync with the images. I thought it might be due to streaming, but I found it also doing it during playback of a downloaded episode too.

Every single device I have tried this on it has failed terribly. It was kind of working on this device until the first advert, after the ads finished it restarted the the show from the beginning. It did this every single attempt. I love channel 4 but this app is broken the live streaming does not load at all and after over a year of waiting for this app to get fixed it's just became more broken. Real pitty because channel 4 has always been my favourite channel. I guess I will try it again a year from now but I doubt it will be fixed after 2 years I lost faith completely.

This application is so unreliable during live streaming that I will no longer use it. Adverts play mostly without any problem but the live program stream just fails or never starts with A nondescript error message. Simply useless is my rating the programmers of it should be held to account. IMHO.

'NETWORK ERROR' & no ability to DL on all Droid devices I own (I have space and app up to date) - But same WiFi connection it works on an iPad. Weird. But please sort out app and stop commenting on 4/5* reviews as I've seen lots mentioning the 'Network Error' problem. Please address

Doesn't work. Sound but no picture on my lenovo. Very frustrating at the moment. Will update in the future if new updates allow me to watch programs properly ...

So annoying! I use this app every day! Always watching the box sets up until last week anyway, no matter what I try to watch it get about 5 seconds into the show and the app glitches and then restarts the show, this happens on a continuous loop, I can't even skip past the point that shows start to glitch at. This happens to every single show I have tried to watch, Making the app unusable and frustrating! Loved the app so much until last week.

I very rarely rate apps but the total fail of this one meant I had to. The ads are long and play perfectly but the shows refuse to load and play. After uninstalling and downloading again I managed to get one to play but half way through loads of ads then the second half of the show would not load. I've given up on trying to get this app to work just to watch ads.

Casting is nice, but other functionality so poor that I've gone back to the Roku app. PS to dodge the ads: scroll past all the breaks, once the ads have played you can watch the whole thing without interruption.

I remember why I uninstalled this app. Not because it was too large or redundant but because it doesn't work. Whether I am connected to Wi-Fi or using data, it comes up with 'network error'

On my ASUS memopad 7 the screen starts glitching showing only grey lines. Yet the adverts are perfectly clear, a great shame. There are lots of people with this problem please fix it :-{

WORST CATCH UP APP!!! Channel 4 needs to sort out this mess of an app. Constant app updates but no improvement at all. Live TV feature still ain't working, only ads run to the last second and then a blank screen with error message. Why introduce something that hasn't been tested? The app is so unstable. Sadly, the app don't match C4's brilliant programming. I have a new Samsung smart tv 2016 model and doesn't have all 4 so I tried to screen cast through DLNA from my tablet and I get a message that all 4 doesn't allow running content on secondary devices. What loada nonsense! I can do this with iPlayer, my5 and itv Hub. If it's about copyright, trust me there are several ways anyone can access and download content over the internet. This app doesnt deserve a star; if there were a zero rating, that's all I could have given. For now, I will use KODI.

No smart TV app if there was I would watch all the time, phone app is poor and I no longer use Chromecast as all other TV channels have built in TV app so no need. So still not watching C4 like tens of thousands of people.

It was so bad, it did not even let me give it 1 star let alone the 0 it deserves. It does not work on a brand new android tablet, which renders it useless. You can hear the audio, but no visual studio all - the adverts seem to work though! I mentioned this to them over 6 months ago and was told they were aware but working on it..... Hmmm! By the way, EVERY other player works on my tablet, but they do not have Walter Presents.

Good programmes but a huge problem once adverts get to the end, often you have to quit out and go back in again and rewatch the adverts. Probably due to a separate server used for advert streaming. Previous version of 4od meant had to log in each and every time which is a pain on the TV.

Keeps stopping and starting during playback, totally unwatchable. Don't waste your time downloading it.

Works fine on other tablets and phones but on the new Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 it downloads programmes but when played (or programmes streamed) the ads play then you get black screen with audio only then the audio starts breaking up as well. Still not working Mar 16. Feb 17. Over a year later and still can't watch anything but adverts and absolutely no signs of any progress.

Plays the first part fine. but after the adverts it keeps flicking between the pause button and the buffering wheel whilst there is a black screen . Waited half an hour and still nothing

Update to previous review. The casting is good now but the app doesn't track the shows I've watched. The my4 section doesn't seem to work. It's really frustrating searching each time.

Won't work. Just keeps saying 'network error, please try again later'. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it and still no luck. Used to work fine before update.

Great app, lots to choose from. The add's pay for the making of the new programmes...they cost money, so why are people complaining, it's free to the viewer!

App screws up auto rotate. Switches to landscape and requires reboot for auto rotate to work again. Please fix.

App works fine, but continuous adds make it unbearable. Three 3 min adds to watch a programme less than 30 min long. Installed today ad will be uninstalling today too! Some adds would be ok but at this ratio I am not happy to carry on using the app.

I just want to watch channel 4 live... is it really not possible to do that on this app ? Ive spent a good 10 minutes searching through the app for a WATCH LIVE option .... If its there, its unintuitive. If it isnt there, it should be and I wont be using this app. Boooo All 4.

I am also having issue of sound only but video multi coloured lines as written by previous review. COME ON WRITERS ITS BEEN WEEKS, ANY SIGN OF A FIX ! .....It's pretty obvious that if the writers put as much effort into making this app work as they do hindering downloading content to save as a file this would do what it's supposed to. It's not coincidental that the adverts play but programming doesn't through developers scrambling content so they can control. Come on you writers let's face it, if people with a little know how like me want to download programmes there is always an alternative way, you lot scrambling programmes just isn't worth it and its frustrating users that innocently want to use this app, GET A GRIP ! Update : At last it now works on Lenovo Yoga 2 8 Tablet ....thanks developers!

Junk. Plays the ads beautifully, but not the content. A pointless waste of time.
