About Flood Alert

Over five million people in England and Wales live and work in properties that are at risk of flooding from rivers or the sea. Are you one of them? Flood Alert enables you to quickly check the current situation both nationwide and in your local area.

Everyone in an 'at risk' area should be aware of flooding and keep an eye on the water levels and weather situation, even when on the go. You can do this by checking the flood forecasts and the river and sea levels on the Environment Agency or Natural Resources Wales websites, by listening to local news and weather forecasts or now by simply opening the Flood Alert application on your smartphone or tablet.

Using the live flood warning feeds provided by the Environment Agency, CH2M has developed Flood Alert to enable you to quickly, efficiently and conveniently monitor flooding in areas that are important and/or close to you. These data are updated every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day.

Flood Alert allows you to monitor:
- live status of flood alerts that are relevant to your current location (within approximately 5km)
- live status of flood alerts for up to two user defined locations such as a home, office, or elderly relative’s house (within approximately 5km)
- live flood alert information displayed by regions, local authority areas or counties (includes unitary authorities and London boroughs).

The application also provides guidance on how to be prepared and what to do when it floods, together with associated links to the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales websites. It also allows you to directly contact FloodLine, the Environment Agency’s free flood warning service in order to obtain further information.

The functionality within this application is fully compatible with Android OS versions from Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) to Lollipop (5.1.1).

Note that by installing this app you are agreeing to the associated Terms and Conditions (please see link provided here to review these).

Flood Alert is part of Flood Modeller Suite by CH2M. CH2M develops innovative products, provides industry leading customer service and delivers global consultancy solutions to address today’s and tomorrow’s flood risk management challenges.

What are users saying about Flood Alert

Doesn't accept my email address in order to store my postcode. I can check for flood alerts based on location but that's no good if I need to check whilst away from home. Also, push notifications would be incredibly useful.

U70%
by U####:

Currently 26 severe flood warnings in force on environment agency website. This app shows none!

Usefull app

G70%

Push notification is a no brainer. Show the location of the flood alerts will be another Obvious function. Otherwise 5 star.

No good for this side of the border.

N70%
by N####:

... in that the basic system is useful. But the app refuses to remember the postcodes for My Locations. Every time I look, it has substituted other, random postcodes of no interest to me. Note 2 & Android 4.4.2 . .... EDIT This issue now appears to be corrected so much happier with the app.

Y70%
by Y####:

The titles are too long, this means you get a list but can't see the location names on my phone. Could do with wrapping the text.

D70%
by D####:

I work in this line of work. This is a great app, but some observations/questions! Will it provide alerts to your menu bar without relying on the user having to keep manually opening & checking the app? I'm not social media savvy, but could users comment on warnings via twitter/Facebook to help spread the word?

Y70%

Simple to use. Accurate. Useful.
