About Heather Scottish TTS Voice

CereProc has developed the world's most advanced text to speech technology. Our voices not only sound real, they have character, making them suitable for any application that requires speech output.

This voice can synthesize:
* Navigation directions from Scout while driving
* Accessibility information with Talkback
* Twitter, Facebook and newsfeeds with iHearNetwork
* Your favourite eBook from eBook reader apps
* Your SMS with apps like Handcent SMS or Drive Carefully
* and many other TTS-enabled apps

Please note that for some applications such as Scout, we recommend installing on a device with at least a 1GHz processor.

You can try the Heather voice for yourself, in the interactive demo on CereProc's homepage:

What are users saying about Heather Scottish TTS Voice

N70%
by N####:

The best sounding tts voice to my ear. Sadly, even when disabling the Google engine, you still won't get Heather speaking most of the time. Just occasionally a sentence will break through... Edit 2017: still doesn't work with Google navigation

U70%
by U####:

Not recommended. Worse than useless. Attempting to do ANYTHING by pressing on buttons fails. Nada, kaput. Don't waste your money. I had hoped to use it for reading books, that would have been impossible.

N70%
by N####:

The very best voice there is although an update in early 2016 made it sound less Scottish and more robotic. The latest update makes it so I can't use it for Google maps or S Voice. Sad.

Z70%
by Z####:

Not as realistic as Caitlin, but damn her voice is so soothing that I love listening to it. Definitely glad to use this instead of the default google TTS though it's unfortunate that I can't change the voice on default Google apps.

N70%
by N####:

I love the voice! But its a shame that it doesn't work for Google search engines or Google maps. 100% of users use similar TTS for this purpose! Please update and fix please! It would be such a waste!

E70%
by E####:

Updated today, 23 Feb 17. The downloaded file seemed to be the wrong size, breaking the TTS for this voice. This is now fixed.

N70%
by N####:

Today's update broken. Voice no longer works at all.

N70%
by N####:

The perfect voice for reading. Not Google Maps and Now don't work, but that is a recent (intentional?) Google issue.

U70%
by U####:

Recent screw-up-date seems to have been sorted quickly, phew.

Doesn't work with Google's apps - not Maps navigation instructions, not responses to "OK Google" voice search. This may not be CereProc's fault, but they don't seem to be trying very hard to find a way to fix it while still happy to sell their largely useless products.

C70%
by C####:

It doesn't work with ok google, the only app I use that even uses tts, sad day.

N70%
by N####:

Least robotic option this company has in my opinion. Use it with Home Assistant. Couldn't be happier! Thanks!

N70%
by N####:

Very natural voice, with superior quality. I faced with my voice reader without any issues.

D70%
by D####:

Very clear and pleasant to listen to! Love it , love it, love it! A phone with an exotic voice!!

N70%
by N####:

Righteous!

I70%
by I####:

I use this in conjunction with tasker, and due to the fluidity of the voice Heather feels like a pocket PA of sorts. Much more humanistic than past TTS I have tried.

N70%
by N####:

Voice is great but very frustrating it doesn't work with navigation which is the primary use of the voices. Please please fix

J70%
by J####:

Fullarton or clydesmill roads sound odd.

N70%
by N####:

works with my S3 S5 and now Note 7, for those complaining it doesn't work make sure you have it activated in the Android Language settings because it does work with G Maps great...

U70%
by U####:

Great voice, soothing and natural sounding, but like other users have commented, it no longer works with Google navigation or Now, despite having followed instructions to disable Google TTS. Oh well.

L70%
by L####:

U70%

All though the voice sounds very good, I could not get it to work with google now and maps. Followed instructions exact. No Heather : (

U70%
by U####:

it was leagues above the standard TTS my phone came with but ever since the last system update for my Motorola Android Turbo its refused to work. Been several months now and it shows no sign of working with Google maps anymore

Z70%
by Z####:

Absolutely worth every penny. P.S.: To those bitching about it not working with Google Maps, go talk to Google. This works with other apps just fine. That makes it a bug in Google's app.

U70%
by U####:

I listen to ebooks and this really does well.

I70%
by I####:

I have been using Heather for quite some time now. Her voice is very authentic sounding. She rocks.

N70%
by N####:

Best voice I've found over the years

D70%
by D####:

Tone of the voice is good but... I wish they would improve the pronunciation and emphasis to produce a question instead of a statement. It would make the reading of a story more enjoyable.

W70%
by W####:

Can you recommend a map program that will give me voice navigation using Heathers voice? If Google maps doesn't want me to use your tts voice anymore fine, I'll switch to something else. Motorola droid turbo.

U70%
by U####:

Stopped working, can't download

O70%
by O####:

No matter the combination of settings I try, I cannot get this to take over from the Google TTS engine when using Google Maps navigation.

U70%
by U####:

I really love this voice but it no longer works with Google Maps (I'm guessing Google is disabling 3rd party TTS on their apps) and only occasionally works on Google Now (namely when setting reminders). The rest of the time, it's just the crappy Google TTS.

U70%
by U####:

On Android Kitkat all was swell. With her sweet highland brogue, Heather directed me ably on Google Maps. But then came Lollipop... no more Heather... only in a demo... but no more highland directions. *snurf* :^(

If only you knew the horrible things I am having her say.

I loved this App, more than I dislike the default TTS in Android K. Haven't L yet, waiting for stable 5.0.1. Now, CereProc 3.1 no longer works, all I get is the shrill default TTS. Upgraded to Android L. Disabled Google TTS. Still no Heather )-: Still doesn't work with maps and navigation as it had before most recent upgrade, even with Android 5.1 . . .
