Gluten-free Scanner for Android
keywords: gluten free, Celiac Disease, allergy, GF scanner
The scanned item is hardly ever what pops up, but since the last update the scanner doesn't work at all. It switches to something like a bar code scanner but with a gray screen. Could be an awesome app for those of us eating gluten free, but is far from it right now.
This app doesn't know any products! I scanned MANY name brand foods and all it said was "this item is unknown". Skip it, even the free one!
Great concept; just what I need for my wife's celiac disease, but it doesn't seem to work with the Atrix. 2. The scanner window is just one big grey screen, like it cant' find the camera.
The scanner freezes and wont scan an item at all, could you please work on fixing this? Great idea been looking for something like this for awhile now just wished it worked!
Recently diagnosed with Hashimoto's and read that gluten free may help! This app has been a huge help as I am, now, also allergic to gluten. I do wish the scanner worked though.
Will be trying to scan for a very long time and just not register a barcode. It worked once and said it didnt recognise the product. Now know its not a gluten free product as i got pains from it.
Scanner doesn't scan but hopefully i can search for item and find them! Recently diagnosed with celiacs I was hoping this could help me go gluten free
Brilliant idea. Sadly it only recognizes about 20 things, and as it doesn't tell you if they contain gluten it can;t really say it does what it says on the tin. Frankly I don't need an App that tells me the bar-code from a bottle of Mayonnaise I;m holding is from a bottle of Mayonnaise. I've only given it one star because I can;t give it none at all, or -5!
Recognised 2 of the 20 items I scanned.I scanned Kraft pb that is gf. It suggested non gf granola bars! Waste of time.
Only recognized an average of 1 out of 5 products, and didn't say if they were GF or not.
Scanned and identified the products but when you click to pick the closest match nothing even close comes up! Very disappointed!!!!
After 6 months of poor recponces why is this app still here? Especially. When so many people r excited about this app. Disgracing for those involved
Haven't had much luck with this, but hope this app can become useful in the future. It would be grand to have a tool like this at a grocery store!
Needs to be simplified to confirm or reject product as "gluten-free", rather than advertising preferred similar products... sneaky and time consuming.
Would give it zero stars if I could. Anything you Scan comes back with suggestion for ketchup.
This scanner does NOT inform about the scanned product (whether producer says it is GF, whether ingredients seem to indicate it is GF, whether other users have tried it and say it is OK, or whatever). Instead, the app suggests other "similar" (but often quite off the mark) products that are GF, i.e. it simply promotes products of those brands that collaborate with the app (and presumably support it financially). So if you just want to check whether the product you have in front of you on the shelves in the supermarket is GF or if other users have any experience with it, forget it.
cant get the barcode scanner to work, wont take the chance to buy the full version. would be nice if i could try it, they really need to work on the scanner
Didn't recognize anything in my fridge. Uninstall. Don't waste ur time
If I could give it a zero, I would. Scanner doesn't work at all.
I was excited by the prospect of something tok help me shop as this is all new to me. I installed and tryed it on simple everyday items I had at home. It gave me pages and pages of items not even close. :(
Good concept, scanner a bit tricky to use. Useless in Australia. All said would still bee interested in an Aussie version.
Comparavle aps work fine. This one is unable find my network connection. Fail
Useless... scans recognizes and has no info in the database. Uninstalled
If I could give 0 stars I would. Tried scanning 3 labels all 3 said item currently not available. Worthless.
The app doesn't cover generics or off brands. Also I shop at stores that offer gf food at much cheaper prices then national brands, and they aren't found on this app.
The scanner never worked all that came up was a grey screen i tried different settings i couldn't even access the app settings at all uninstalled I was hoping this app is going to help me but instead it gave me a bigger headache
This app is not giving your scanned item...waste of time trying to find product just to end up with like item.
Quickly switches to scanner, but loses camera, so unable to scan anything. Other barcode scanners work great, so this is either code and/or hw comp. Issue with this app. Motorola photon and evo 4g.
Finds most products I scan (not all). Seems to recommend similar gf items, too. Saves me tons of time!
This app sucks, it doesn't show most barcode info & suggested the worst items for a celiac .... also takes FOREVER to load
Haven't even used in market, tried on a couple things in pantry (jar of peanut butter, and powdered creamer...the scan window is wayyyy! Too small.
Needs way more attention. My scanner didnt even work
I assumed if the barcode reader correctly identified the product, that you would be able to find the product to see if gluten free. Not so. Tried typing in product but gave me a list of 63 other products, none of which was it. Try for example, Green Giant Corn.
Scan something and it suggests an item not even close to what I am looking for :(
When scanning something it gives you like 100 pages to go through takes to much time
I looked for a good combination of apps that would assist moving to a gluten lite life, but the scanner is either showing black or tje products testing with are not available once scanned.
If you are familiar with the celiacces website, you will love this scanner. Scan an items bar code and this gives you a list of similar items. If your item is in the database, it will be listed at the top. Sometimes a specific item isn't listed, but another similar one from the same manufacturer is, and when selected you'll often see the gluten free statement from that manufacturer which can include the item you were looking for originally, or a link to a gluten free product list will be included. Love!
Doesn't give info about whether product is gluten free. Just brings up similar products. Uninstall.
Idea good but I am looking for apps my son can use bc he does not read lables clearly and I would not trust this scanner for him

Cannot find most products-even if they are not store brands. It also told me something I absolutely knew had gluten, did not have gluten. Would be great if the creators stepped up their act and improved this application.
