I have no idea where they came up with these numbers, just absolutely no idea.

Distance from the screen is usually measured in feet. This calc measures in inches. Harder to calculate. Also, I'm not sure what resolution it is assuming the screen is, but different resolutions have an effect of the optimal distance to the screen.
