1) The balance can take days to update for transactions so available balance figure is meaningless. 2) loading the card via app ALWAYS fails. Have to use the website. 3). When transactions do finally show up they have the wrong date on them, showing as a day before they occurred! This isn't a timezone thing either. Come on Caxton this app would be great if it worked properly!

Since my visa card was replaced with a Mastercard I've had nothing but trouble. The old visa app worked brilliantly on my android phone, however the new app just locks up when I try to open it. I've got as far as creating a pin on a couple of occasions but usually it just freezes. I've done the usual "uninstall/reinstall" a few times. When next in the UK I will be finding another currency card as this is unworkable!

Not just the App that has problems - I received a renewal card today and assumed it was a renewal for my US Dollar card expiring next month although it said nothing on the card. Our Euro cards do not expire until 3/16. I activated it not knowing that subsequently the old logon site would no longer provide any card details or transaction history. After sometime, I eventually established that this new card must replace both our old Dollar & Euro cards allowing you to load several different currencies onto a single card. The card number has changed and now I have to go and change the PIN again. My wife’s card is not automatically renewed, so I had to order another card and will again have to change the PIN. The logon for the new site is different and although it shows USDollar & Euro balances, as stated before there is no transaction history transferred over. The old site lets you in but shows no cards and when you look for transaction history, it says “we no longer support Mastercards” but the old cards were Visa?! A shambles in miscommunication.

What's the point?? of this app if you can't load any money on it!!!! I am almost at the point of getting a different currency card sick of this stupid app, don't waste your time loading this app and taking valuable space on your phone because you are just going to have to login in on there website to get anything done anyway! Hate this app and hate MasterCard bring back Visa card.

Previously using Caxton FX Visa card. App for this worked fine. Since Caxton switched me to MasterCard am using this app. It takes DAYS for the balance to update on the app. Absolutely useless. Cleared transactions/pending transactions show up on website (actually better than the Visa website), so not an issue with switch to MasterCard, just an issue with the app updating in realtime. Adding funds is also a pain. For caxton visa card, debit card could be stored, amount to top up added in previous app: done. Now, cvv2 number required, verified by visa required. Maybe OK for security purposes, but screen freezes between each process, not sure if doing anything. Over a fast WiFi connection, worrying. Over a slow cell connection, worse.

Used this app to try and load more gbp and because of the confusing interface ended up loading Australian Dollars instead. Incurring £7 excess charges for doing so. Be wary of this one.

Trying to view my balaces whilst on holiday is so frustrating, wait ages for balances and transaction history to update and when it does the app crashes. If it actually worked it would be ok!

It used to work, but not anymore. I used to love being able to text to top up, and it was OK topping up using the app - when I had data or WiFi. But now it doesn't allow me to top up. I have to ring them, go on hold for ages and ask them to top my card up. I only give it 1 star because it does at least show my balance. I will be looking for another currency card I think. Has since started working, but with a substantial lag which makes it look like the app has stopped working. I get a screen with a red 'close' button, if i ignore this and wait the card validation process starts. I'm now giving it 3 stars whilst i wait to see if it works next time i'm abroad.

The old Caxton app was fabulous and you could request balance and top-up through SMS if you had no Internet connection. Now I can't even log in. Had to go via the website to top-up which is beside the point when the app is supposedly available for ease of access. Really gutted because using Caxton was so so easy overseas, and now it doesn't work at all.

Useless if you want to top up a foreign amount as a whole number (e.g. €200) because the loading amount can only be in whole pounds and this is the only value you can set. This leaves unwanted cents on the card. With the website you can specify amounts in Pounds or Euros. Much more flexible!

Seems to work fine at home. Slick interface. Will update once abroad. Hopefully fixed after terrible reviews. Update: Logged into new app downloaded and topped up in South Africa (local sim card). No problems. 45 seconds start to finish. Great app. Samsung Galaxy S4 & S3.

In the list of apps that have recently requested location info, the caxton app is pretty much always there. Even when I've not used it recently. This bothers me as it is a battery drain, and why does it need location anyway? Deny location access and the app won't open.

Good overall but ruined by having min £100 topup and on top of that not having a feature to redeem the balance back to your bank. Have to log in by pc to do that. A bit annoying to say the least. It also fails to load or connect in less than perfect internet connections.

I agree with others the way this was changed over became a shambles with all cards moving across despite not being expired. What is more the charges have increased in many banks in many countries I have used even if you have the nominated currencies. Many atms now charge whether or not where before the visa card charges were less or nil as it was issued in europe. It can no longer be used to book in many hotel receptions. I now hate it and would no longer recommend as the app also cannot top up.

It's not that bad, better than the old app. I'm getting tired of the near airport notification as I work close to Heathrow, and it doesn't seem possible to turn it off. On the same topic the "you have reached AIRPORT NAME" notification text is clearly a bug

Can't load your account from even though it says you can, the balance takes about 3days to register the correct one whereas it's immediate online. Waste of time for whoever made the app and the customer. Stupid.

Works well... But what's the point of the pin code? It only works once then you have to do full login... Same issue on Android (Motorola g4+) and iPhone 6s...

I had no problems with the previous visa app. Asks me to select a card to top up but doesn't allow me to do it. What a waste of time!

So I'm gunna be stuck in London when i fly back from thailand. Tried to put 300 quid on and app kept crashing and checked online banking and they took 3 times now i am 600 out of pocket and cannot pay my rent or a coach back to nottingham. Emailed and i get a crappy automated email saying they will respond in 3 working days. I am not happy. Card is great the app is not. I advise you steer clear.

Transfered £1200 to my card it came back with an error message - took the money from my account but did no put on my card! Spent a lot of time and money on calls from thailand to get it back! Visa app was much better. DO NOT USE!!!!!!!!!

When I emailed Caxton they said that as far as they are concerned there's no problem with the app!!! I suggested they might like to check out the playstore feedback - I haven't heard back from them since.

When I log into the app and go to exchange rate it shows €1.20 to the pound however when I then go to top up it tells me the rate is €1.16 to the pound . This is quite annoying and for this reason I have given 3 stars instead of 4. Just show the actual rate that I will get please!

doesn't ever update..I use the actual website as the app just seems to stick with the same info. shows last log in as 1 week ago...wrong. balance always wrong and never ever updates. tried reinstall but same problem. Galaxy S7.

Never loads properly, never confirms if the money has loaded or not, freezes at random points. So disappointed as never used to have these problems!

If you have a MasterCard with Caxton then this doesn't work!!! Won't let you log in (should be everyone as visa should have switched off now). Used to be great please update this as its useful to use when away

Hi, I liked the app as what is required it has and easy to load the card. However it crashes whenever I try to fetch the transactions details. Pls get this fixed.

Only way I can top-up card while abroad is through website. Oh for the days when you could simply text top-up instructions! Why on earth was this stopped? STOP PRESS Just received email saying "we have been listening to your feedback and are pleased to announced our new Android app is now available". Anyone tried it?

I have the current version 3.1 on my LG G4, after struggling to register my debit card on line it now works with the exception of the "Load" function. Looks like I'll have to use the website through a browser if I want to load when away from home (I'm told I will be also be able to load over the phone) If the App functioned correctly it would be great - its sleek, clear and swift. I urge Caxton to sort this out users are looking for certainty and convenience, the present IT setup has shaken my confidence after moving from the Visa card where text load and balance were a great asset in this less than perfect world. update - I've tried uninstall and reinstall version 3.1, clear cache & Data in the app but it still fails to topup, I'm running Android 5.1 (V10d-EUR-xx) on a new LG G4. Fairfx users are also experiencing problems by the looks of it so is this a Mastercard issue? It seems to me Caxton have two issues to resolve - 1. Update the app so it works reliably as advertised. 2. Reintroduce as quickly as possible the text service used on the Visa card - not all of us travel to places where our smartphones get access to the internet.

App is handy to look at transaction history/pending. DO NOT use it to top up your card! As stated by others, website causes no problems. I've been in a dispute for 3 weeks now trying to get money that was taken from my bank, but never appeared on my Caxton card (they confirmed instantly on email it had failed). Money still vanished though into the banking ether...

I genuinely have no idea how some people are having so much trouble with this app. I received my caxton card today and I activated it online with no problems. I them downloaded the app, logged in and set a pin again with no problems. I then tried some of the app functions like topping up my card, which it done instantly and then I changed the currency of my money, which it done instantly. No idea what some people are doing wrong but it works for me.

Only currency available is Aus Dollars, nothing else is selectable. Useless when trying to load Euros in the middle of the Italian countryside with no internet connection only 3G. Now looking for a card that will work. Customer consideration zero as far as this app is concerned. New version released and tried to install but once downloaded will not let me past the passcode screen. I have tried ‘skip’ and also entering a 4 digit passcode which after entering it asks me to re-enter which once entered takes me back to the ‘do you want to enter a passcode’ screen. This app is a waste of time given that I have never been able to top up my account using this app or it’s previous versions since they were introduced. How difficult can it be to ensure that apps work before they are released. Very poor customer service if the customers can’t actually transfer any money into their account without making a phone call. Even the previous SMS system was better.

New app worked perfectly whilst in the UK. Now touring New Zealand with my LG G3 and it's a nightmare. Often won't log in and does not update it's transactions. Come on Caxton your cards are great but this new app is a big let down
