Carmel - Car, Taxi & Limo

This is my honest review for which I have been compensated $10 car cash from Carmel. You need this app in your life if you take a car service. The updated app is extremely easy to use. You can set up a car for an immediate trip or a future trip and choose the type of car you want. Paying is easy, as well. You can pay through the app or in person. You can also get Car Cash to use on future trips and they are all over the place. A few times I requested a car for immediate pickup and they called to let me know there were no cars available at that moment even though the app said they did. Hopefully that will be worked on. Otherwise, I am very pleased with this.

This is my review but I am awarded $10 Car cash from Carmel for sharing it. Great service. The correct type car we requested was on time or early for pick up and brought us from NYC to LGA on time. Being able to add tip and fees online from app made the transaction very simple. I compared estimated prices on more popular car services, and even with tip and fees, Carmel was cheaper than the others. I will use Carmel every time I fly into NYC.

Jankiest car service app I've ever used.

App was easy to navigate

It took me a moment to figure out the app, but not I have it down. The app could use a bit of work, but the drivers are all really good. They text me when they arrived and I can track them to see where they are. What I like is that when they pick me up at the airport, they right my name on a board in the window so I know which car is mine and I don't have to look at the license plates. I was given $10 in car cash from Carmel for sharing my experience with them,but I'll definitely be using them again in the future.

I booked online & received confirmation straight away. There is an option to pay the driver which I took. I received instructions to call after I'd collected my luggage which I did. I was then advised to proceed to the pick up point which was directly opbposite the exit, very convenient. The driver was polite & the journey to Manhattan was smooth & very comfortable. On arriving the driver unloaded our bags he wouldve taken them inside the hotel but the bell man assisted from that point. This is my but I am awarded $10 car cash from Carmel for sharing it. I am recievimg a $10 credit for my review! Awesome! I would have done one for free! My driver was early in a nice SUV and I was not scheduled to be picked up for 40 minutes. I just called dispatch and they were there in 5 min. I will use this service all the time. No more uber for me. This service is a better bargain. Thank you.

Smooth trip. Reliable pick up. We've used Carmel several times (ok, many times) and they've always been on time and courteous. And they do not drive recklessly. Highly recommended. Note that I will receive $10 credit for submitting this review, but it was written by me and reflects my experience.

I've used this app for several years but since the update it no longer works. When booking a car, there is an error in the mismatch of quoted fare and actual fare. So I can't complete a booking.

Updated: I gave Carmel another shot and it was much, much better this time. The car was on-time, clean, comfortable, and got us to JFK quickly. The driver was pleasant and courteous without being too 'chatty'. A good experience. (Note: I'm *not* being paid for this updated review...it's simply because Carmel were good this time round) The app is supposed to give information about the driver waiting to pick you up. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes a driver shows up, sometimes he doesn't.

The app is terrible. You cannot amend your reservation after you make it and have to call. That defeats the purpose of an app for me. The company is also terrible and completely unprofessional. Even their marketing materials are crazy. They write that other companies are trying to sabotage them by writing bad reviews when in reality, it's probably just customers telling the truth about their horrible experiences with this terrible company.

3 out of about 5 or 6 times the Car didn't come on time. Last time I ordered a car 1 hour and 20 minutes in advance. After 10 minutes waiting past my requested time I had to use other means and tried to cancel the car through the app but it wouldn't let me. No call..no text..no email about the delay. So disappointed. Guess there not as good as they say.

Took a chance on this service and booked a car in advance for my parents. They arrived in LGA, called and provided the conf #, then waited almost 20 mins for a ride that didn't show up. I contacted them in an effort to find out where the car was, only to be talked over and rushed off the line. They asked for what my parents were wearing but said they couldn't contact the driver. So then what's the point of giving their description if that information can't be passed along to the actual driver ? Needless to say I cancelled the ride and will think 3xs before using them again. A lyft or yellow cab may be less headache

Tried to book a car with this company twice and have been let down twice. Inaccurate quotes thru the app and arrival time of drivers. WILL NOT USE THIS APP/COMPANY AGAIN. Deleting the app

Junk. Responded to airport ad, app would not even let me select proper location. Uninstalling and sticking to Lyft instead. Would rate 0 stars if possible.

This ap is okay. But Carmel car service is great. I have used them tree times over last few years and always on time and clean nice cars with courteous driver. This is my review and I will receive a 10 coupon for it.

The drivers didn't know my total at the end. Didn't let me get out to pay. Did not take credit card even if it was on the app.

GOOD EXPERIENCE: Was at JFK airport and needed a ride to northern New York. CARMEL was competitive with UBER and LYFT. I chose CARMEL because they did not charge a per minute fee nor toll fee. The ride was smooth, the driver was cool and the price was fair.... My only issue was that the car had the scent of CIGARETTE, and as a non-smoker, it was definitely a turn-off.

I Have been using Carmel for years and the app makes a great experience even better.

This application is unusable. You cannot simply write in your pickup and drop off. It insists on using your current location. But often I'm not booking from the place from which I want to be picked up.

App OK, drivers on both rides exceeded speed limit by nearly 50%* to Long Island. One spoke hardly any English, not even "please slow down." They were polite, however. *80 mph on a 55 mph highway.
