runBoss Running Stopwatch++

runBoss is a running utility made by a runner for everyone that is looking for a stopwatch optimized to capture the important race information using the latest technology available.

The primary function is to take splits during a race. The date, start time, runner names, and unlimited split and lap times are stored and enhanced by the use of voice activation.

NEW FEATURE:a secondary function of cross-country scoring has been added. Team scores are stored, tabulated and enhanced by the use of voice activation.

---------------STOPWATCH FEATURES---------------
Entering the race distance activates race prediction which will predict finishing time if the user speaks the distance when a split was taken.

The Start Timer, Voice Split, and Quick Split buttons work on release so that they can be used as a dead man's switch improving the timing accuracy.

The Stop Timer button has an option to switch from simple click to long click...the extra time that you need to hold the button insures that you won't accidentally trigger it.

Two split buttons are available. The Voice split button records the split and lap times when the button is pressed and then activate a voice recognizer that can be used to record the runner's name.

The other split button is a Quick split button which records the split and lap times along with a runner name of "Quick Split". This will allow you to split many runners coming through at similar times.

---------------XC SCORING FEATURES---------------
Note: This application performance is such that the limitation on scoring is how quickly the user can identify the teams. Testing, by watching video of race footage, confirms that the application is limited by how quickly you can identify the runners.

Say “boss” to start recording team finishing places. Google voice launches and takes any length list of team names. Only the first name is expected. The spoken names are used to identify the team name from a list. The team names are immediately placed into the scoring table.

Use of a comparison list greatly reduces the error rate and speeds the entire process significantly. The application comes populated with team names from the PA Central League... Users are expected to edit the list of team names (use the “Add Teams” option from the action bar settings menu).

There is a Quick Team button which adds “quick team” to the scoring table; this can be used as a placeholder for unidentified runners. This feature will allow you to score a limited amount of teams in an invitational setting.

At any time, you can click Score Team to calculate the current standings. A box containing the scores of all complete teams pops up. Touch anywhere outside the box to dismiss it.

At any time, you can click on a listing and edit the name. This will allow you to change "quick entries" to meaningful names after the action has passed. This will also allow you to correct voice recognition mistakes by re-recording the name. If you have trouble with complicated names or a noisy environment, you may consider using nicknames.

If you say "remove" or "delete" when editing, that entry will be removed. If you say "clear all" the entire list will be removed. If you say “insert” an entry titled “insert” will be inserted into the results.

Pushing the email icon, places all of the information into a formatted email that is ready to be sent. The format is slash delimited which is easily transferred into spreadsheets.
