Camio for Android
What a load of crap! Good concept, poor execution. Spent all morning setting up my cameras and testing everything to make sure it works, phones plugged in, etc. As soon as I leave the house the cameras go offline. Kind of defeats the purpose.
Very simple to set and use. And the artificial intelligence behind is great in learning stuff I need. It also works great as an electronic babysitting system.
The app works even with an old Nexus S (Android 2.3) , so I can put old phones to use.
Its's a good start, recording stops when you turn screen off which is not good, it shouldbe able to run in the background and no night vision feature
Very easy to set up. The idea of thumbs-up/down on events is great. It worked pretty well for me.
App crashes a lot.
I am a professional software tester and a technologist. I have to say this software is one of the worst I've seen in a long time. Very user unfriendly and does not work reliably, with no clues for users to debug. It just doesn't work reliably!!!
I love how easy it is to set up. I can see my cat while i am away! Way better experience then my nest cam!
Motion clips in 4:3 get stretched to 16:9. Live view only shows 4:3 resulting in wasted/unused screen space on monitoring device. Tried changing camera settings from 4:3 to 16:9 but made no difference. Using Nexus 7 (2013) to record and Moto X (2014) to monitor. Good app concept will keep using.
I would like this app to be able to on screen featured zoom from the device that's is watching live feed also may be even auto zoom would be nice.so I left my cell plugged in and battery to phone became hot luckly it was an old phone so I guess this app is just for those times in need for surveillance. Over all I gave 4 stars due to the fact there is no option to zoom so if on next update I can see these small changes as a user I would love and share this wonderful app you are your team has created :)
I use this app to keep an eye on my dog while I'm at work. It works pretty good, just a few small issues, the videos in the history don't seem to correspond to the thumbnail they show, usually it's one or two videos later. Seems to crash my old HTC phone that I was planning to use, but I use the laptop now for a camera and that function works perfect. Can't really complain though, it's a free app and does what it claims, would be nice if it worked on the HTC though.
Great app. Love how simple the setup was. Works great! Thanks
My older android won't run properly with this app. The app size is about 27MB but in 24hrs it bloats to 47MB rendering my phone unresponsive. I even selected manual updates. I have been trying to get this app to work for a few days now. Still no luck.
Nice concept but doesn't work well when using a Nexus 4 running stock Android 5.1. Does not support background mode which means the display is stuck on and the charger can not supply power faster than what the app uses when recording at HD 720p. Once dead the phone will not recharge unless I manually power it back up and force close Camio. 640x480 seems to deplete battery at a slower rate and it seems to last a full day this way. The app could use the option to completely exit instead of always running in the background. Motion notifications are helpful.
Would be nice if you didn't use a webview to log into google account.
Love this app ,çonsidering upgrading.
If the intention was to just leave an old phone plugged in on a shelf, and be able to listen in current time, it works for a while in that capacity. Until some other factory app uses the camera and makes camio crash. Motion does trigger recording, sound does not. Unless maybe a gunshot is needed to trigger it. The "camera"phone has sat recording on my coffee table for 3 days, I only have 2 videos recorded. Both from when I set the phone in the table. 3 days of conversions and loud laughter did not trigger.
Keep going. Already super useful.
Ease of setup-works just as described
Very useful to keep an eye on my vacation apartment while away.
I cannot get this to work for more than a couple hours. It crashes on my Note 2, not a terribly old phone, which is used as the camera. The phone is crashing so hard, I have to restart it. Sometimes it freezes or shuts off on it's own. I reset the phone to factory and still have this problem with only Camio. I'll keep the app hoping it works some day (it's a phenomenal idea), but that day is not today.
I downloaded on my phone and computer. And when I left my place and didn't have service and when I got service, the other end of the camera viewer is offline and can't wake it up and check on my place
This app would get a higher rating is I was able to change one of the cameras to a viewer or be able to go in between the two settings on or vice a versa
Nice work!
Like the service, but it seems to think my camera is offline in the app, but it is not when I use the web service.
When it works its a great service... However their Android app is a buggy mess. I have to reinstall/reboot whenever the app starts force closing... Please fix devs.
Great design in times it was created. Now the app is not working often it stucks with 'Loading your feed' message. So it is not very usable in current times. The cameras should work asynchronous, like in Trackview and other alternatives(this doesnt any mean that Trackview is recommended, you must search yourselves). Moreover it seems, after short trying to make it work, that it has minimal configuration possibilities. - - Shortly said, this app deserves major rewrite and technological/architecture redesign.
Need to offer some incentive to compete with Nest Aware service
App crashes a lot.
The alerts are great. Streaming however is tricky to connect. I have to go remotely into my PC to refresh the website then I am able to connect and stream live cam. Everything else works. Update since free trial is over the alerts have stopped and no recording unless I pay for upgrade. The streaming has improved and are still able to stream live video .Alerts should still be sent on free version but is not......
Your screen actually doesn't turn off when recording even when updated to Android 5.1. They need to hide the on screen buttons too. Causes phone to overheat.
Works OK but it's a pain that it can't reliably determine the camera position. Seems like occasionally it gets the position right and the picture is displayed correctly oriented. Next thing I know there's an update or something and the picture is in the wrong orientation. Wish there was a way to manually change a setting to correct it.
The new at-a-glance push notifications are fantastic. I can see the cover image of events like "people approaching door" without even opening the app.
It works good if all you need to do is to watch your dog
Audio doesn't go through Bluetooth when connected.
Works pretty well, has a 5 second delay between frames but not horrible. I use it to monitor my child while he naps and it works well. Things that would make this app better: 1)enable sound recording. 2)enable either shorter or longer exposure time, 3 second frame rate would be nicer if you had to respond faster to what's being recorded. 3)night vision for making this into a real good night time surveillance tool.
Do you REALLY want the hackers to know your Facebook and gmail access passwords?
Shady.
Easy to install and setup. Was able to see when package delivery people come to the house to drop off the package. Super useful.

I use this every weekend to check on my pets while I'm away. The recording feature is great insurance in case anything happens while I'm gone; the free version gives you a week free of recording, but I wish it at least had 24hr of recording included in the free version.
