calimoto Motorcycle GPS Navi for Android
U-turn on dual a carriageway? Stay right when in fact it should have been left. Constant recalculating if when route followed. I had high hopes but sadly it's really poor and a useless GPS.
How do I change the Navigation Voice language? I already changed the Android TTS settings but it didn't work
I like this app but I noticed it does not distinguish from the turn left or right and bear left or right .. and a few times I was right at the turn or just after and it told me to turn .. the turns could be told a bit earlier ..
I thought the point of this app was to navigate you to your destination using nice curvy roads? Whatever destination I choose, it just shows me the route through the highway. Where is the fun in that? If I want to ride a straight line down the highway I can use Google Maps.
An initial glitch was dealt with by the developer who eventually sorted it out. That problem aside, this app really is a fantastic route planner for bikes. Not so much use for the most efficient route, but it certainly takes you off the main roads and allows you to explore places you'd never normally go. A simple interface allows for the inclusion of numerous intermediate points along the best twisties.
Firstly this is a great app for riders as it finds some great routes that Google never would. Alot more fun riding to new areas with this guiding you, BUT the turn-by-turn is not great, it does warn you about turnings coming ahead quite frequently so you need to keep a close eye on the map to stay on route. I'm hoping this will improve in future as otherwise it's great!
Great routes especially if you want to avoid built up areas and enjoy the road. Re-routes very quickly. Accurate instructions, I find I rarely need look at the map at all though they are very good maps with a lot of detail. I started with the free local map but soon after bought the rest of the UK as this is the only app I use for sat nav on the bike. Overall excellent, good job!
Brilliant. It does what it says and doesn't try to be some all singing all dancing GPS. Uses the Google voice though which is a bit annoying. Otherwise great but best to set your start position out of town. Great for house hunting in the country, first trip I saw loads of properties I can't afford :)
A fantastic App, I used it for a long trip around the UK and it was faultless. The only thing I'm struggling with at the moment with the latest update is I can't seem to share on facebook.
Just doesn't work!
How do you upload to facebook, Keeps asking me for a URL?
Great app, the audio navigation is approximative but with a tool to fix your phone on your bike its perfect! I love the roadtrip function too
Great app. If a "avoid gravel road" filter is added, this app is absolute outstanding!
Too little options. Would be great to have more languages.
I loved the app. It took me places that I would never had though of. Every single trip it suggested was hilarious. A must have for all motorcyclists.
This app puts the focus on the journey rather than the destination. It's taken me to a few lovely places that I wouldn't have found without it.
Found some interesting routes, so far, some tiny single track lanes included that are a bit to small but overall positive.
GPS didn't go quite as quickly as I did. Found it was telling me to turn AFTER I'd already turned. Also, I started a ride from a different point to the one I originally programmed. When I used the function to get back on route, I found it was trying to take me back to the start point rather than pick up the route at the nearest point. Otherwise a good app. Much simpler to use than BBR. Looking forward to the new developments.
Tried TomTom Go, but it was fiddly. Thought I'd give this a go, found "round trip" option and made my mind up to keep Calimoto. Great :-)
Edit: used this at length today and used the navigate to and round trip options. Very good indeed and 60% of the roads were new to me. The round trip in particular is a superb option. About time an app came out like this.
Pretty good. Can we please have UK voices.
Fantastic guys keep up the good work.
Fantastic, already used it for 600 miles over 2 months of short ride-outs. Explored tons of fun roads in Gloucestershire including some that are a bit too small and agricultural! Just need miles+yards instead of miles+feet for navigation! Thanks
It never worked on my phone but as I saw it working on another phone I did want to encourage it and give it 4 stars, hoping is going to come out better in the future.
This app is proving to be fun and useful. So far!
+ great routes (could avoid cities more though) + quick and easy route calculation + I also like that alternatives can be computed by rerunning the same setting (e.g., I don't want the same 75km ride around where I live all the time) + quick rerouting when departing from planned route - privacy concerns remain (app asks for many permissions, keeps asking to turn on precise location, privacy statement on website too complicated - @devs, check out kurviger, they make me feel much safer in this respect) - prices are really exaggerated. 2 maps of 25chf each for a tiny country like Switzerland? Come on... And what if I life close to one or several borders? - designed for portrait mode viewing, tons of space wasted on the white top bar in landscape mode - turn instruction is not always well timed - roundabout symbols are too limited with only 4 roads
This app is a nice idea but unfortunately doesn't work as well as I'd hoped. The problem is that the app cannot differentiate between a winding open country road, which would be ideal for motorcycle riding, and a tiny narrow single track lane that is barely wide enough to fit a vehicle along. So, on my way back from Hereford to Burton-on-Trent, the journey took over 3 hours because this app took me on so many single track lanes that were so narrow and Muddy, that I don't think I exceeded 20mph for a large part of the journey... if a road is not wide enough to have a dotted white line down the centre, then it's not a Bikers Road.
Doesn't see UK postcodes and UK free map is incorrect for the location east England that should be called south east England. Unable to test app at all in location needed
I haven't tested properly yet but it seems to have some good features and so far customer support has been brilliant. I will edit as i get a chance to test
This app does just what I wanted it to do. Guided me through the Yorkshire dales on some really remote lanes without any problems. Excellent.
I like it. However UK postcodes are not recognised and I'm almost on the edge of one map and as you can only have one free map I can only travel west
Great app. Comes from great minds that are heading just the right direction with app development. Just the way a rider thinks. Will test the app vigorously this easter. Then part two of the review will come. Keep up the good work.
Good idea but on first use, the app. failed to keep up with successive itinerary changes & froze. Having restarted it, it then failed to instruct me of a left turn at the second intersection I came across (I currently use voice directions only). This last point may be due to the way the intersection was mapped but at £15.99 a map, it should be perfect. Finished my round trip using Google maps.
I wanted to like this app, but the first two local postcodes I tried do not work. One wants to take me to the USA! (I'm in the UK) I provided feedback twice, from the app, and didn't receive a response :-/
rubbish, could not find my post code to take me home. uninstalled it.
So far very impressed. Would like to put in a postcode and not have to travel to America though. Update that and you have a winner
Just paid £59.99 and UK postcodes don't work, please refund.
Great App......used first time yesterday for a round trip.....adds to the fun when you do not know where it will take you !! Look forward to your ongoing development.....thank you..
What maps do you use lots of destinations not found. Maybe we can contribute

Great App. Spontaneous round trips with focus on winding roads was the feature I was looking for and the app delivers nicely. Planning and changing routes with via points is intuitive and easy. Tracking your ride and give some statistics is a cool bonus. And this is a free app with no ads and fully functional without in app purchases as long as you stay within your first map area. Features I look forward to in the future: Reverse a round trip and handle re-routes during navigations better, especially if you have to skip a via point.
