About Slick UPnP

Slick UPnP is a free, simple and easy to use client for browsing UPnP media servers and it will enable you to stream media to your device. It focuses on delivering a simple and lightweight experience.

Please note that there is no actual media player included, and in order actually play any content you will have to install a 3rd party player.

I recommend the use of a dedicated UPnP media server such as for example Plex.

NOTE: This application is in no way affiliated with the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) and have in no way passed any such certification.

This application is open-source and the source can be found here:

Your files open up in Chrome, where you can view/play/download. Suite of bloatware not required.

It does exactly what it says it does. Streamlined and simple to use. I really like it and use it often.

Works even in hotspot mode, other clients can't do it. Awesome. But Please remove the "enable wireless" dialog, coz I only use it through my mobile's hotspot.

Cannot read hdhomerun prime on network. App sees device but cannot list stations to handoff streams to vlc player. This app is crazy fast though!

Got 500 internal error and cannot proceed further - even though my device have both Wi-Fi and mobile data turned on. First time I have used this so it's really disappointing. Update: I've downloaded another UPnP app and it worked immediately. Sorry, I've uninstalled your app.

My server on my Asus router sends 160x160 jpg files named the same as the video. Showing them and album art embedded in audio files would make this almost perfect. Some type of internal way of playing the audio files would be good too. Playing Videos external is fine, but audio is a little clunky outside.

I loved the simplicity of this app but one issue is when i clicked on video it doesnt open the video in mxplayer or any other video players instead it opens the video in browser pls fix this asap

Works perfect. Great in simplicity.

This is cleanest and therefore best dlna app. Too bad subtitles are impossible to support due to dlna protocol. Another good feature would be a download button that allows the media to be downloaded to the phone.

Light and open source without unnecessary permissions is awesome! But light shouldn't necessarily mean missing essential options or features. Can't use without playlists. Audio has occasional skipping.

App is fast and seems solid. Unfortunately i need something which allows me to create playlists, so I'll have to look further. Will definitely check this app out again in the future.

I don't get it. It wants to open videos with my browsers, no option to select a video player eg mxplayer as the default. It says complete action with internet or chrome, no other option. Any ideas? By the way, I use SERVIIO,which works with my other dlna apps. E.g bubbleupnp, UpnpPlay, Upnp browser and AnDLNA.

You are amazing man and looks of app is too good , it can easily identify my media server and tried to open and played on device. Work fabulous on my xolo q700s device XD

I especially like the fact that this app does not require gratuitous permissions from my device. It just needs WiFi. Good job Casper, you are good genie!

Don't get me wrong with stars, i love how its work flawlessly in browser mode and the UI simplicity, when i start to play the video its disappointing, WHY the external player is not working :x

Flawless for my win8.1 pc but my win7 and dnla pvr say 'Unsupported or invalid sort criteria' :(

M70%

Detects audio & videos from all my dlna servers flawlessly. I chose this over Airwire because Slick doesn't try to keep running in the background. It's better than BubbleUPnP because it's ad-free and generally faster at picking up server broadcasts. The more Synologies we get the more I appreciate SlickUPnP. Only 2 improvements I thought of: a dark theme for night use and the option to download media.

Unfortunately the app instantly crashes upon startup on my Nexus 5 running Android 5.0.1 - edit: thanks for the feedback, I have submitted a crash report via Google that should include the stack trace for the issue.

After lot of reading and skimming through apps. This is the perfect one , Its so lightweight on my Samsung rugby smart. I stream content from my PC to ps3 and now finally my android ! I combine this with mxplayer for playback and its perfect streaming. Thank you developer , and the idiots who voted one star you clearly didn't understand the use for this all , try constructive tips instead of worthless complaints .
