About Valence

Valence turns your Android phone or tablet into a remote keyboard and mouse for any computer running a VNC server.

Note: I rely on your feedback about bugs and issues you may encounter with Valence. Please drop me an email if you have any problems, and let me know which VNC server software you are using. Mentioning problems in reviews is not sufficient, since I can't respond or ask more questions about the problem.

The inspiration for Valence was a need to control a home theater PC from the couch, but it can be useful in any situation where a computer doesn't have a keyboard and mouse handy. Your computer must be reachable over the network from your Android device, and be running a VNC server.

Valence now supports right-clicking (by tapping with two fingers at the same time) and scrolling (by swiping two fingers up and down).

For more information about using Valence and configuring a VNC server on your computer, follow the website link below or view the online help (Menu->Help).

The only issue I've found was that when you type 6 you get another chara among it. Being using this app for like 4 years already and that is the only complain that I got.

U70%
by U####:

Why do you have to tap three times to make a double click?

U70%
by U####:

I tried double tapping for right click and Valence interpreted it as a scroll.

M70%
by M####:

This is perfect but the fist time I tried this PC would not connect even though a vnc server installed so uninstalled and then followed developers web help and installed vnclight and it connected immediately. Using on HTC One that never fails to work with anything and Samsung tablet that now rooted also rarely faulters through W7 PC. Brilliant if you have setup similar to mine where PC has HDMI connected to TV. Sony Bravia looses ability to get YouTube, Demand 5 (don't buy Sony) this helps solve issue!

B70%
by B####:

Truly usable, practical and effective, pad sensitivity is ok.

M70%
by M####:

Awesome but why not put a screen of the cumputer / device?

D70%
by D####:

Excellent remote controller for my Mac :-) Still works even with OSX 10.10 without any additional software to install

No joke.

Great app. But what about file manager via vnc?

Z70%
by Z####:

Does exactly what it says on the cover! Gives a brand new dimension to my laziness.

Z70%

Been looking for something like this for a long time.

Instant touchpad for your desktop. Tested with Linux.

Z70%

Free and almost as good as touchpad app on ios

I70%

The only android vnc trackpad app that comes close to hipporemote on iOS.

Remote key n mouse VNC

W70%

Probably one of the most used apps on my phone

Z70%
by Z####:

Mouse acceleration is terrible and ruins an otherwise very useful utility.

V70%

This was the last thing I needed to make my phone perfect, thank you!

L70%

Do one thing, and do it well. This app does that.

T70%
by T####:

Used to work great but lately, when my network is slow. I can't connect cause the time out time is too short. Wish I could change it

Z70%
by Z####:

Great for what I need it for - except I can't change the volume easily. There need to be volume + - and mute options. If there are, I can't find any information on it, and can't find it in the app.

Z70%
by Z####:

Works on Mac win 7 and Ubuntu. Superb ...volume control hardware buttons on SII even control volume in Ubuntu ...superb.

Z70%
by Z####:

Works well

Z70%

Simple, small and really fast. Works great with linux desktops

Z70%
by Z####:

On a honeycomb tablet you have the choice of displaying the app in Stretch or Zoom mode. In Stretch (default) mode the app looks high res but the mouse movement is fast & jerky. In Zoom mode the app looks low res but the mouse works much smoother but also slower. If you're using this on a tablet try both to see which feels better for you.

Z70%
by Z####:

Ignore the comment from a previous reviewer talking about resolution limit. I have tested the app with 1920x1080 resolution without a problem.

Z70%
by Z####:

No need to dowload a server to the computer you are trying to control, unlike other apps

B70%
by B####:

Lightweight // reliable // a favorite.

Coming from HippoRemote on the iPhone, I was hoping for a lot more from this app. The interface is quite ugly and the whole app has very poor usability.

N70%
by N####:

All I get on connect is the simulated touch pad. bVNC is much better. Yes I know it's for when you can see the screen. I need one for several headless servers and a broken laptop. I'll keep it to see how it works when I can see the screen...

Valence is able to connect to my device but no action with the device (touch, keyboard) is being visibly executed on my Ubuntu 12.10 desktop. So in short: connecting works, everything else does not.

U70%
by U####:

Finally an app that is strictly mouse and keyboard! No 'server' app needed, connects thru vnc like a charm on all my linux boxes. This is the only app that rivals 'HippoRemote' on iOS, no need to use my iPod touch to control my media center anymore! Thank you so much! Ps. It was hard to find this app, tried atleast 5 others before finding what I needed.

M70%
by M####:

Works exactly how I need it to. The only thing... Maybe a redesign to get rid of the text in the center, or an option to loose it? But love the app. Thanks!

N70%
by N####:

Just add vnc on PC and your android becomes remote mouse and keyboard with this app. Pretty cool.

U70%
by U####:

Easy to setup & works as advertised :) Two requests (1) option to change mouse tracking speed, and (2) put an Esc key next to 'mod' and 'keys' as there is still room! Thanks!

U70%
by U####:

It took me a while and a lot of false starts to find this app but it work perfectly on my Galaxy Nexus phone and tablet. NO SERVER SIDE software (Malware?) is required. Valence uses the VNC server that ships with Mac OS X 10.7.

U70%
by U####:

Simple to use, much better solution in many cases than a full desktop screen on your phone

U70%
by U####:

Ideas for what else to add: -full screen mode, without titlebar on top or buttons at the bottom -scroll by swiping the side of the screen -option to remove text from screen and present a completely blank screen, so my AMOLED don't age.

U70%
by U####:

Works great for our TV pc, just wish it had cut and paste.

E70%
by E####:

The best app for media center control! And free! +5 stars. Only desired feature, one click direct to the mouse control screen without clicking on the server first. This would save one less button click and I would never use the wireless keyboard again. could even be desktop widget to take me directly to the server...
