What are users saying about On Air (Wifi Disk)

Z70%
by Z####:

Mac Snow Leopard, Nook color-CM7 on SD Works as advertised. Copy 200 MB crashes 3-4 times. The last time causes Mac finder to freeze, forcing hard reboot. File sizes shown with On Air in Finder are inflated; my 16 GB chip shows 289GB unused, small text file are 4.3Gb.

L70%
by L####:

Looked like the simplest app to map a network drive via wifi on windows. Alas, the URL is unreadable, goes off-screen and the app crashed (couldn't stop nor close it).

R70%
by R####:

3 stars for lack of good documentation and an unclear interface. Other than that it's great. For those confused about the operation of this app: select your OS first, then click the big power button; enter the ap, http, or ftp address into the relevant program on your computer; onair is the username and the unlabeled four digit number at the bottom that looks like a hit counter is the password. I'd suggest installing FileZilla on your computer and always running OnAir in FTP mode - less headaches that way.

Z70%
by Z####:

AFP doesn't work with Lion, WebDAV doesn't do anything but lists the folder content like a text file (with FF). FTP works but that's it. There are much more sophisticated file sharing solutions eg. AirDroid. Thanks for the developer, he doesn't charge for this, at least.

M70%
by M####:

Cryptic interface, useless help button, no documentation, official website is a Twitter page. Maybe it works, but I couldn't figure it out.

D70%
by D####:

Great app! Used to use the Astro SMB Module but that doesn't work on Gingerbread. Should have option to prevent sleeping, other than that it's perfect

Z70%
by Z####:

Cannot figure out how to make this work. It doesn't let me do anything &no buttons work. Pure tosh

Z70%
by Z####:

Works on MAC but needs improving as it will not switch off, so need to kill the app post eject from disk mount. Sort this problem and 5*

U70%
by U####:

Does not work on mytouch4g. Button lights up, nothing happens, process has to be killed. No fun.

M70%
by M####:

I'm not sure what everyone here is complaining about. The interface is simplistic but honestly, if you can't figure it out why are you using it?

Z70%
by Z####:

I use the FTP server, works well with Filezilla. Sometimes hard to get the initial connection but that is probably due to my phone. The big button should really let you turn off the server too (use the back button instead, or the home button to keep it running in the background).

Z70%
by Z####:

Cannot use due to URL not fully listed on screen.

Q70%
by Q####:

Tested with cadaver and ftp--excellent! UI bug: there should be a shutdown server command. People won't realize it shuts down in background.

Z70%
by Z####:

Awesome.. Just needs a switch on the main screen to stop phone from sleeping. Doesn't seem to have an elegant way switch off disk from within app.

Z70%
by Z####:

IPv6 address shown and goes off the page, unintuitive interface. It's been 2+ years since last update

Z70%
by Z####:

So I used to use this a few years ago, it was lovely though I'm having a problem now. It shows an ipv6 address and is too long to see in portrait. Please advise :)

Z70%
by Z####:

Do not display IPv4 address, instead a IPv6 address is displayed, not sure if it is due to Android OS 4.

Z70%
by Z####:

Droid 1 to Mac with appletalk. Connected, saw files on SD. But failed to transfer every time. Would b great if it worked.

S70%
by S####:

WebDAV didn't work. FTP did work fine but honestly SwiFTP is better if you want an FTP server. Tried on N1 with Win Vista + FileZilla.

U70%
by U####:

It only works for FTP. The first file is slow, after that speeds of 700KB/s. DO NOT USE PASSIVE MODE connection. DroidX.

Z70%
by Z####:

One of the most powerful devices on the android market. And it's FREE, how can you complain?!

Z70%
by Z####:

Works alright but could be better with webdav. Seems more hassle to manually navigate to folder.

R70%
by R####:

this is awesome especially since my controller port quit working a few weeks ago EVO

Y70%
by Y####:

The locking issue persists. Needs options like choose folder to share, set custom user:pass, port. Back to swiftp for now.

T70%
by T####:

Used it all the time before upgrading to ICS, but after upgrade it shows 127.0.0.1%2 as an address of my Galaxy S2, so no way of connecting to it anymore.

Q70%
by Q####:

It generated a link with IPv6 address, but ':' symbols are invalid in URLs, so I'm unable to connect to it. Also, app lacks of landscape layout.

O70%
by O####:

An outstanding but flawed app. The ability to mount your internal SD card wirelessly is fantastic. Which means it's a shame the interface is so poor.

O70%
by O####:

It needs GUI and documentation improvements, For everyone who wants to know how to use it, (im on a mac) Open the app. Press the big 'On' button a 4 digit password will show in the bottom right hand side. then open a finder window press CMD+K type in the afp://etc..... and click 'Connect' use the 4 digit password shown on the phone Shazam! it shows up as a normal disk on the left hand side... pretty swish! But honestly, needs some major work on user experience :P

Q70%
by Q####:

This is a much needed tool, Although it would be a lot more helpful if it gave you the address in IPv4. Or have Bonjour (feature request for a pro version).. In the end, I couldn't get it to work on an unrooted Nexus 4. After pressing the power button it would turn on visually and give me the totally useless IPv6 address "afp://airon@gibberish.that.goes.off.the.screen - but I was unable to connect to it in the Finder. When pressing the power button again the app does not respond. Safe to assume that the process behind the GUI has crashed. Great idea. Shame about the execution. If this worked and had Bonjour announcing it I would definitely pay cashmoney for it.

Q70%
by Q####:

Easy to use, if you have a little network know-how! Once working it does just what it says on the tin. Working well on HTC Desire and Archos 70 tablet

O RLY? Perhaps someone else will feel led to see if Belgianwaves is still around. Abandonware FTL... D`:

X70%

fast and does not kills the connections when my phone (Acer Liquid android 1.6) goes into sleep, despite my wifi settings. Tested on linux (ftp).

X70%
by X####:

We miss your other apps, and this works great veryeasy to get my music onto my phone now without USB (lol I lost my USB plug)

M70%
by M####:

I use it for copying files to/from device via FTP. It does that very well.

W70%
by W####:

Works perfectly on Desire. Tips: - use a client like flash fxp. - user name is onair, p/w is generated 4 digit no. - to turn off, press back button!

X70%
by X####:

Works perfect on Droid X with froyo and Win XP. Just have to link it to the computer as internet hard drive.

P70%
by P####:

MAC USERS: sometimes it wont show up in finder, if so just type the afp address on the bottom of the app into a browser on the mac and it will find it

X70%
by X####:

Works great as webdav server... install davfs2 on Ubuntu and use Nautilus to browse! Please add an icon and status info in status bar. Nexus One.

C70%
by C####:

Works great. Tap upper right icon until you get ftp, hit center button, enter address at the bottom into pc browser. UN:"onair" PW: 4 digit code given

F70%
by F####:

Works as advertised with Max OSX Snow Leopard. Only issues: I had to install a separate app to keep the Evo from going to sleep (No Screen Off). And file sizes are not being reported properly in the Finder.
