Reading Buses m-Tickets for Android
Constantly crashes, I've been left embarrassed a number of times now where I've been unable to provide a ticket to the driver because the app has failed to load. It was a good idea but it needs a lot of work to get it stable and functional.
The app only has to do a few simple things to be very useful. But it fails and crashes FAR to often. It crash3s at least 40-50% of the time I want it. It should have hard copy timetables for when this happens but it relys on the app launching. Fix the glitches and keep it simple.
This is frustrating and embarrassing. The App No longer let's my ticket get scanned despite trying all methods to let it be read. A brand new ticket gets rejected on each bus I step on. It was working perfectly fine before that.
Currently shows a black screen and doesn't load. When it did it looked okay. Was planning to use for weekly ticket but if app not working it's no good.
Really awful app, incredibly unreliable.. Can't even buy a ticket (the only thing I want to use this app for) - if you click the ticket you want to purchase it takes you to a blank screen. You had one job!
Trying by 1 hour to create an account on this app and fail every time. I don't know what I do wrong. Finally I have made an account, but I have to reset my phone because was stuck few days ago and after I reinstalled the app my ticket was gone. Woot??? Seriously??? This app have lot of issues, is very far by working properly.
The bus tracker function is excellent but the app frequently doesn't open. I'm not prepared to try e-tickets whilst the app is so unreliable.
Amateurish. E-ticketing is nice in principle and way overdue but the app freezes regularly, often won't accept card payments, doesn't give receipts and as of 24th July the live timetables are wrong (surely this is just data and is easy to synchronise?)
Lifesaver. Saved me from a smaller heart attack. Because my bus is only every half an hour, I would've been majorly late if I can't track my bus! So helpful!
As useful as a car with square wheels. Conveniently crashes whenever buses are running very late. Gives inaccurate 'track my bus' and 'live times'. Side nav keeps taking you back to your profile info rather than the page you requested. The list goes on.
The app itself is a good idea, but I can't ever buy a ticket on here because the app crashes after opening it once and I'm unable to use it. I like the track your bus section but I'm constantly having to delete the app only to redownload it so I can use it.
Bought a ticket, weekly one, and of course no qr code will display leaving me explaining and getting hassle because of it. Thoroughly disappointed. If the features don't work, don't release it to the public.
Wasted money on a ticket and the code seems like a fake... Bus driver couldn't even manage to scan the ticket... Feel pretty scammed for downloading and trying this app.
I downloaded this app for the live departures and bus tracker to help with the unpredictability of Reading traffic (I blame Winnersh), and it suits my needs perfectly! Not only can I get a glimpse of the live departure boards of different stops, I can use the live map to check if I have enough time to grab a coffee, or whether I should RUN LIKE HELL. I don't need the other features so I can't comment on those, but the live departure times are a life saver in the mornings! Thanks!
Being told that i have to turn my NFC off by the driver to use this app becuase it reads the bar code but NFC is causing issues is not a good ux. If the card readers use NFC why can't you add the ability for the ticket to be read by NFC instead of qr code for those with devices who support it
I have to restart my phone every time that I open the app. It crashes constantly and had to miss the bus or some drivers will have to wait until I open the app. Very annoying....
E-ticketing is good as it means no longer having to remember the correct change, though with the introduction of contactless payment this is less important. I only use the app because the single ticket is still cheaper than when using cash or card. This is the main problem - price inconsistency. Why have different pricing? Also, not all tickets/fares are available. For instance I regularly use a route which still has fare stages and I only need a £1.30 ticket yet I only have the option of a standard fare.
Used on Google Pixel 2. Doesn't scan QR code, my old phone had a bigger screen. Please give ability to make QR code bigger if that is the issue.
Bad. I just wanted to buy a 7-day pass. Created an account (I think) because there was no confirmation. Buying a ticket just opens a blank white screen for me that says 'submitting order' forever.. Complete garbage.
At last an update that makes it worthwhile using instead of the alternative My Bus Reading app. The addition of favourite stops means you no longer need to locate them every time on the map. Also the real time bus tracking system is a good addition, although it would be better if it gave an indication of the direction the buses are going.
Terrible app, paid for ticket but unable to activate it. No excuse it shouldn't be that difficult.
Seriously, instead of asking one of the driver's teenage kids to make an app you need to employ a professional coder. This is appalling in so many ways.
Not all tickets available so useless for me. It's a great idea as exact change is needed on most buses. However special tickets (i.e royal Berkshire hospital to and from town centre) are not available making it useless to me. Please add special tickets to the app to make everybody's life easier!
Horrible. I got denied entry on bus with a ticket that was supposed to be valid. I had to buy another ticket
Good idea, but slow and seems to crash quite often. Would be good if it was possible to view expired tickets to submit for expenses.
Journey Planner is UNUSABLE. It doesn't know any addresses, it doesn't know any postcodes, it doesn't let you point out your destination on a map and it doesn't let you say when you are going to be travelling!! How can you ever use it????
Very very buggy for an app that you are expecting people to provide payment details for. It didn't fill me with confidence navigating this for the first time.
Sed to work fine with my Nexus 6, now on Pixel XL 2 barcodes are not getting recognised on the buses despite NFC being turned off.
I haven't yet tested purchasing monthly tickets, as it's quite an expense if it glitches (as reported by another user) but weekly tickets seem fine if a bit awkward when a call comes at the same time as the bus. I understand the ticket fraud issues of permitting tickets to transfer across devices but think that there should be some way of making this possible, perhaps an option to put it on the memory card or a webpage where you can cancel a ticket on a lost or broken phone and either transfer it to another device (for perhaps a small fee to discourage abuse) or receive a partial refund. It would also be good if there was a shortcut to the tickets view from other areas, e.g. to jump from tracking your bus's progress to bring able to present your ticket when it arrives. Live bus tracking feature is good, but could be improved by allowing you to select the bus from the bus stop's arrivals page and also by making the bus direction clearer in the map view. It would also be good to be able to go to the bus stop page from the bus itinerary. The arrivals page could also do with showing the scheduled time as well as the expected time and an indication of which bus stops are fixed time checkpoints (where the bus will wait if running early) would be useful. Final feature suggestion: a stop alert to let you know when to press the button for a selected stop. Bug report: on my phone, the journey planner doesn't seem to allow you to select any time other than 'departing now', which rather seems to defeat the point. Despite all this, the app is much improved from its early incarnations and is now my main bus times app for the Reading area. New suggestion: a ticket viewer widget or a separate ticket viewer app, so that you don't have to waste time waiting for the app to load up if the bus arrives at the same time as you.
Finally I don't have to carry change my wallet the whole time in case I want to take the bus. I usually get the boost ticket which mean tjere isn't a card you can top up in advance so this app is great.
Does not allow me to buy any tickets and so defeats purpose of me installing app - when I click on purchase ticket, just get a blank screen with a message saying "submitting order"
I like the fact I can track my bus especially during times when the buses aren't running to timetable. However it annoys me that I have to uninstall and reinstall the app every time I try to use it. After I e used it once or twice, it just crashes and I get a black screen.
Lost 2 tickets now due to phone updates and them not storing the data and restoring it. Great money sink......
If you're downloading the app to buy tickets, well... Don't bother. It didn't let me buy the ticket I needed. It's ok to track the buses, though.
I have been using the app daily for the past 3-4 months. It has never crashed. If you keep NFC off and brightness on medium or higher it scans fine every time. I like the convenience of being able to purchase a ticket at the bus stop while the bus is just pulling in and get it done by the time the door is open. The only issue is that GPS tracking is not 100% reliable. That's why it got 4 stars. One suggestion is to have the ticket available in a cloud storage so it does not get deleted if you do maintenance on your phone.
Painful to use. Unable to purchase best fares. Difficult to select stops. Cannot save routes. Cannot add favourite stops. Updates to routes hours out of date. Bus tracker doesn't work just highlights the entire route - really helpful. Very mickey mouse app. Not worth the effort. Easier to use the pre-paid cards and Google maps for the timetables.
App is much better now. Works most of the time... except the code to kill and reload the app doesn't work on Android 7 Nougat. App becomes unresponsive at splash screen and had to manually close. Using an automate script to kill upon home press for the time being so it starts up correctly. Not a deal breaker and I've given up my smartcard so it must be good for a dev to say so! Originally gave it 1 star then 2 now 4 so sort this bug out and 5 stars! Bus tracking is so cool!
Since new update app is very slow to do.... Anything! Update 19/10/2017 sadly this app is getting worse I have to open and close it multiple times to get the app working when it finally decides to work it painfully slow. Ended up buying 3 weekly ticket when I only wanted one. GPS tracking dose not work, won't display all the bases running. I really can't believe this was released in the state it's in.
Re-downloaded the app to buy weekly tickets for me and my daughter. Bought them and it has been playing up when being scanned got kicked off number 6 bus because it wasn't scanning even though you can plainly see I have a ticket which I paid for!

Awful. The idiots who wrote this didn't even test it. Can't change password. After creating an account you are sent to a page to modify your account details, making it appear that you haven't created an account. For no reason whatsoever there are restrictions on the characters you can use in a password, so I am sure they send it unencrypted to the server, a security nono.
