ComicCafe - C/S Comic Viewer for Android
Been on the search for a streaming WiFi comic reader app for a long time - using shared folders on a local network was just getting too painfully slow to load and change pages. This seems perfect, including logging which comics have been read and where you were last up to. However, on starting to test run the app it seems to keep force closing. Not sure if it's my device or my hefty comic library causing the issue. Suggestions welcome!
EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR! The server is simple to setup, even though everything's originally in Japanese. Literally, just download a file and run it. This Android client supports everything I want: 1) Separate Host IPs for when you're on LAN or away 2) Keeps track of read comics 3) And it's snappy! I have over 4000 comics and they load really quickly over WAN, and my upload speed is only 1.5MB/s I've tried Ubooquity, ComicStreamer, and now this. ComicCafe is by far my favorite of the three. Had to give it 4-stars, due to the web login only being accessible via the local machine. If I need to add a new user, it has to wait until I get home.
It worked, please dont put ads in the future
Works great. Server setup is a little tricky due to language, but not too hard. The only steamer I've found that supports multiple users, each with their own read progress, queries and such. The developer has been good with fixing bugs I've reported as well as feature additions.
Outstanding comic reader for streaming from a local PC to your tablet or phone when your at home. The server side of this application is a java based application that you setup to run on your home PC from a shared directory. If the the reader/viewer is improved to look and feel more like ComicRack this will be an AMAZING piece of software :-) Right now on the tablet the comic images within the bookshelf are pretty small, even with the large icon setting. Reading comics has been a breeze on my Asus Transformer. Bit of a language barrier on some webpages during setup, but his English is WAY better than MY Japanese! Keep up the great work!!!!
Can someone please help me out with a simplify step by step tutorial pls i really appreciate any help.
Took some fiddling to get it to work on my Ubuntu server, but it streams well and the client app has everything I need. Looking forward to future development.
Thank you, finally a program that does what I needed letting me keep track of read status. Please keep developing this as theres not really anything else that works as well as this. The install is a little difficult due to not being all in english, but its not too hard to work it out.
I'll end up on the floor," die laughing"

I have been searching for a comic server for a while now and this one works very well. It took a little bit of work to get setup only because of the lack of English, but I got it and like it. Very handy if you have a large comic or manga collection and don't want to carry it all with you on your device.

great speed over lan but on nexus 10 the image did not appear full screen eventhough i already set the function to do so. i have to pan the screen manually which was very annoying.
App is great but i couldn't figure out how to mark multiple books as read. Do you have any plan for open sourcing this?
Great
The instructions are somewhat hard to follow (for english speaking customers) but I got it all working and it does as the developer advertises. My problem with this is app is that it does not sort by subfolders. My comic book collection is very large and I have it organized by different publishers first and then by main characters (ie. Batman, Catwoman, ...) and then by series. This app shows all folders and subfolders as series at the same time. It is just too unwieldly. If the Dev can add an option to organize with folders and subfolders, this app would be my first choice. It's fast and responsive even with a large collection.
Wish you could view comics via web browser too. ( for any device not only android )
Awesome app, easy to use and set up.
I love it
Awesome comic streamer
Very fast and stable for a beta release
It does not show internet connection.

I love concept of this app and everything are perfect expect image quality. please increase compression limit or try to load image at original size first and scale it down later to screensize like other viewer (perfectviwer, comitton, etc)
