About FoodSwitch
Packaged foods are often surprisingly high in salt, saturated fat, added sugar and kilojoules. So use FoodSwitch to see what’s in the food you’re eating, and to help you make healthier choices for you and your family.
FoodSwitch comes with handy filters to suit different health needs:
- FoodSwitch Classic is for anyone looking to make generally healthier food choices
- SaltSwitch has been designed to help people lower their salt intake
- GlutenSwitch helps people living with coeliac disease or gluten intolerance as it also identifies if a packaged food contains gluten
- FatSwitch has been designed to help people lower their saturated fat intake and is great for people with or being treated for high cholesterol
- EnergySwitch can help people choose foods with lower energy (kilojoules) to help manage their energy needs
- SugarSwitch helps people choose healthier foods with less sugar to help lower total sugar intake.
You can now also view the nutrition information using two modes:
- Traffic light labels – uses colour-coded ratings tell you if a product is low (green), medium (amber) or high (red) for four key food components (salt, sugar, fat and saturated fat).
- Health Star Ratings – gives an idea of how healthy a product is overall from 0.5 to 5 stars; the higher the star rating, the healthier the food.

Needs more regular updates from play store. Relying on regular logins sees most in app updates in the background fail. Allowing more regular app updates from the play store with latest DB updates needs to be an option. Devs, please update the DB!

There really needs to be a fibre content comparison too for products, as endless studies have shown how important fibre content is for multiple health conditions (and also the opposite - some people need to monitor fibre content for other health conditions just like with salt, sugar and fats). For example some products with higher fat contents are due to a high amount of nuts or seeds which are extremely high in fibre and full of good fats, so a fibre rating would allow consumers to balance the products.

This worked a couple of times and gave great, clear info which was so easy to interpret. The traffic light system for the major things of concern, sugar, salt, fats, was fantastic... BUT IT DOESN'T WORK!!! I would scan something, it would give the info and then crash and have to be reopened to scan the next thing... Now it won't work at ALL! I'm using a Sony Xperia Z1. This is SO disappointing as this would be a great tool at the supermarket :-(

I love it, but can I make a suggestion? If the app can get a search bar that would be awesome, or a way for us to help you keep it up to date qith products we come into contact with that is not on the app. Other than that. This is a lifesaver, considering I havr only recently discovered I am gluten intolerant.

Just what I needed. Easy and fast. Slight glitch in that it recommended a breakfast bar that had three times more sugar than the one I scanned, but I can live with that by just checking the figures in detail. This app will save me time.

It worked in the past, not anymore. The download remains in background doing nothing. Also, few emails sent to the feedback area but it seems the responsible is on holidays.

The serving sizes are not comparable one of the health options was based on 0g per serve. You are better off just reading the nutrition panel on the package.
