SilverCrest Wifi Plug for Android
It works with internet connection only. If the internet connection breaks, why isn't it possible to manage the plug on the local network??? It is not smart!
I used to be able to change the icon image with the camera or a photo. Now, it no longer works. It saves the image, but it remains unaltered. Some serious bugs inn the timers, too. And pairing is a bit of a nuisance.
The app and the switch work reliably and I am really happy with it. Some features could be improved, though. It is - for example - quite cumbersome that you have to delete and re-create the timers every time you just want to change the switch on/off times slightly.
It has some glitches, but overall I am impressed with the quality of this product: The app has simple screens. The device consumes very little power (measured it at 0.2 W), boots in about 2 seconds, and is much easier to configure than a similar product from a well-known brand (which I also bought). I would like an SDK and/or documentation so I can program the device myself within my LAN (which is why I also bought the competing product).
Had to remove them as the plugs were switching themselves off cutting the electrical power to my 2 fridges...not reliable..do something!
After last update, when i set a timer it always adds +1 to my setting: if i set 40 minutes it saves 41, if i move the hour slider to 1 then back to 0 it sets it to 1 when saving. Please correct the issue.
Timers dont work. They add an hour and a minute to the set time. . If the timers worked properly it would get 5 stars from me
Will only switch on and off manually.
works perfectly, happy user
Can't fault it. Easy interface, easy to use, no problems so far
Adding the plug it works fine. But after a while it remains offline on mobile network, you need to remive and add again.
Have to constantly force close to prevent it using up nearly half the battery.
Works great,, but I'm really missing a widget for the home screen. If it could be also configurable, like toglle on/off or on for X minutes, it would be the best deal. Just ask the programer and I will pay the cofee :)
Installation is easy and simple, cloud server works well. However, timer and count down functions do not work on my Samsung Note 3 at all. It turns devices manually on and off - but that is it! Disappointed!

Missing horizontal mode for tablets. Pls. add.
Installed and set up quickly and easily (Android 5) and it works well. My only concern is how long the cloud server will be maintained. 30 years+?
Works ok but I would prefer a direct connection without a cloud service. I tested it when I was away from my home with my smartphone and worked. I suppose that the socket is able to connect with cloud and read from there the ON/OFF info that my phone puts. Maybe this makes things easier for some people that don't know much about computers and routers but I would prefer the socket to behave like an IP camera (or have the option). Some more set up in the router and app but a more straightforward operation, without the need of a cloud service for exactly the same or better result.
Often I have to open app and turn the on and off times on again. Basically, the app works well enough like a TV remote control but not as a time switch. Disappointing.
Didn't work to start with. Re-read the instructions and pressed button "4" for long enough to put it in set-up mode: page 16, before following software setup instructions. Now connected and working OK. Would like a UK power socket icon, in edit, please.
Doesn't seem to work on Kit Kat either tried several times & although it seemed to register got blue light but blank screen so no way to control it was going to take it back to lidl but tried different phone which is running Jellybean & its working on that OS so as I say hit & miss!!
I looked at the reviews and thought why not try it, I could return it if not satisfied. For £20 you get a well made mains switch that looks quite good with one button and a blue LED. Instructions are very easy too. Install the application, fire it up and plug the unit in. Press the On, Off button for 5 seconds, the application finds the WIFI plug, put in your router password in and save. That's it. Works a treat! It also works on GSM, if your miles away from home. Even better, if you have a Dynamic IP Address, it still finds it. Very quick, you can't go wrong. Works on my S5 and TAB 3 10.1. Hope this helps. Dan
I can't give it anything because but it simply wouldn't work. It's supposed to be compatible with 4.0 or later, but I suspect no one has tested it with 5.0+ . As it's configured from the phone App before it's on the WiFi it must be communicating in a novel way to begin with. I suspect it's using the Add hoc Layer 2 stuff, as it won't talk Layer 3 infrastructure over WPA without the PSK. If the net stack on the phone won't allow itself to be hacked this way, you're going nowhere. This one is gong back.
The secret is to hold the on off button on the unit for 5 seconds until it starts to flash. Then put in router password. Bingo. Fine over WiFi no instructions how to use outside home on Internet.
Simply doesn't work, no diagnostics ,poor documentation, nothing to do but return it to the store. Very poor not having support or online assistance
Taking it back. Doesnt work on lollipop.
Install is pretty forward but two important features could be added. First: offline just WiFi use. Second: Mac-Address filtering on home router to increase security. Apart from that it works well. Update: luckily the internet is good for something, found info on the Belkin website in the support section how to find the MAC address for any device that is connected to your router, so have a look, thanks
I've followed the instructions but the app is nut allowing my andriod phone to retrieve the icon. Really want this to work what shall I do?
Easy set up. Works well to switch socket on/off via wifi and smartphone
Much better than the belkin wemo as it allows you to set timer's etc
Plugs work, but the app is buggy in places.... When I add an instance, sometimes it won't appear in the list and have to re-enter it in then it works. Also could do with being able to add more than once instance in each category for different times each day if needs be. Otherwise it's great
utter rubbish does not work
cool utility
Does not work at all on lollipop ..

The English is patchy and being technical, means too much remains unclear. I could not set the Silvercrest item up at all. So it's now little more than a piece of junk to me.
