Magnatune (Official App)

I can't download albums for offline listening. I can't see the latest albums. The interface is not touch friendly at all. In fact I daresay this would be a better app if all they did was repackaged the website as a web app. Speaking as a fully paid up member.

Been listening for years and love their music. The app is great but with one drawback: there is no category for new releases. If that was added then this would get more than 5 stars.

I found Magnatune by accident and I was hooked from the first song. No pop, just deep tracks from high level artists.

to use and unobtrusive. Excellent choice of music. Thankfully no DRM! Only suggestion: the online "Favourites" could be reflected in the app. Highly recommended!

No search feature. Clunky. Just spent a huge pile on the library, and this app doesn't give easy, ad-free access.

Nice to have Magnatune on my tablet now, too. I've really enjoyed it on the clementine player on my PC too. Mostly non mainstream artists, huge selection of songs. Nice minimal interface without a lot of dizzying graphics or other stuff that would detract from listening to music if that is what you are after.

The interface of the app could not he uglier. Also, music constantly stops playing due to badly managed buffering. I love magnatune's principles and service, but this app is just horrible.

Very good. Would be perfect with autopause, when phone call starts.

Bands I'm not familiar with, sound quality is good. No problems with anything running smooth

THE APP IS TERRIBLE!

After a month I switch different android browser just to open your site, and none of them worked like i want. Finally God answer my pray through you guys !!! Anyway, can you added "Popular Now" at menu?and maybe a widget?? but if that hard just forget it, nevermind. Thx you so much.. Cheer !!!

There are a couple features missing, the interface isn't slickest, but I am just delighted to be able to stream the fantastic music in an app that plays the music well and offers easy searching of the catalogue.

I ordered a couple of albums from Magnatune a long time ago, and just decided to check them out again to see if there was anything new. I saw that there was now the option to listen for a while with ads, and then sign up to a streaming membership to remove the ads. I listened to one Jeff Wahl track and it sounded great... Then "A short announcement at the end of each song" changed to "A distracting voice over that plays frequently during songs as well as an announcement at the end of each song". I love the Magnatune idea of directly supporting artists through subscription fees, but you can no longer claim to not be evil when you include a nag-voiceover without saying so in your app description. Very disappointed, Pete

The music is great but this app doesn't buffer enough, pausing and freezing on a decent 4g connection! also it would be great to be able to rate and bookmark music I like!

Way better than the old unofficial beta, but still doesn't beat Pandora IMO.

I love the site and have a paid subscription, but this app is a bit basic, when it works. It force closes when I try to open it now. I'll be back to try out this app in the future.

a missing feature is to be able to listen to the podcasts from the app, also it wouldn't hurt to get an update seeing that the latest version is almost a year old

Unless I am doing something wrong I can't seem to find an option to download to my tablet with this app ( can download when signed in on PC)

Very basic - streaming only. Needs downloading, favourite albums, and a new albums feature for 5 stars.

Would be great if it would allow me to sign in. I get 'trouble connecting to server' followed by 'invalid credentials' although music gets through and I can sign in from other computers.

This app fulfils the extra granular functionality I've wanted for android the mobile site did not provide. Good to see official support now. So far, only change that would be nice is if the app could use notification/media controls. This would show the app is still playing and allow control from lockscreen etc.

I'd like to have the ability to see newly added albums and download albums from within the app though.
