About AirBubble

AirBubble is a lightweight AirPlay audio receiver. It will appear in AirPlay applications (such as itunes) as a device you can play music to. It works in the background, streaming music to your Android device.

This version is fully featured but will exit 30 minutes after each app start (you can start the app as many times as you want). This can be unlocked with the AirBubble License app.

Features:

- stream audio from AirPlay clients (itunes, iOS, airfoil, ...)
- run in the background as a service
- configurable network name
- can be started on boot
- supports audio focus (mute or lower volume on external sounds)
- supports tethered USB or WiFi connection (may require rooted device in some case)

Limitations:

- Audio only, no video
- does not play in sync with other Airplay receivers
- does not work with RaopX on MacOS X and the raop module for pulseaudio on Linux
- does not work yet on GoogleTV

Examples of use:

- stream your itunes music to your Android device with Hyperfine Remote for iTunes
- wireless speaker or headset
- recycle older or broken Android devices as a dedicated networked speaker

This app is one of the few that I've actually paid for, and it is so close yet so far from being amazingly useful. But, as others have said, reliability issues make it pretty much not worth ever actually using. Refuses to start up half the time, and crashes with extreme and infuriating regularity. For now I'm sticking to wires.

I've been loading my library on iTunes since 2005, I put every CD I have ever owned and then some. This app lets me play everything through my note 8 to anything that has an aux input. Anything from my component stereos system to my Bose Bluetooth speaker. Fyi my pc is not Bluetooth enabled, I know that's archaic but Bluetooth wasn't even conceived when I started loading music on my pc. Thanks for unlocking a decade of music

N70%
by N####:

waste of money. I wanted to use this app to stream music from my MacBook and iPhone to my old Droid 1, which is connected to my stereo. It works for 1 song or so before crashing. Unusable.

D70%
by D####:

Can't immediately figure out how to use it-- initially, I thought it would allow connections via *Bluetooth* since that's what I was actually searching for. But I see that's not the case. And then a bunch of other reviews tell me it's probably not reliable. The thing I'm trying to do-- have one Android device act as the Bluetooth speaker of another-- *ought* to be simple. If I can't figure out how to use your app in less than 30 seconds, then your UI needs work.

Cuts out all the time, can rarely make it all the way through a song

I think they should remove air and rename just bubble that's the right name for this app just the bubble

Works great, and, contrary to description, it WORKS perfectly with RAOP Pulseaudio module in Linux!

App fails on marshmallow 6.0 on s5 GALAXY. Tmobile OTA... original review ...Galaxy S has playback suspend issues with incoming calls. Ie it stops to play a ringtone, but plays in the call...still awesome, would recommend to anyone. Works well.

I like the app so much that I can't simply do without it. Great fit listening music on my Nexus 7. 55 stars indeed!

Took some fiddling with the settings to get it synced with the Apple TV, but otherwise it works great.

I've tried all similar apps and this one is the best one for streaming via airplay from mi iPhone 4s. However, the interface needs some design.

Took some trial and error to get rid of choppy sound. Works well BUT a VERY annoying glitch that happens sometimes when disconnecting and connecting headphones is a sudden, very loud high pitched tone. I'm almost scared to use this at loud volumes because I would like to keep my hearing, and you never expect the glitch to happen.

I have several AirPlay devices, bu the iPhone is the only one who can beem audio to the Desire HD running AirBubble. I don't know, it could be the other devices are updated to OS X Mountain Lion OR it could be some settings with my wifi even though the Desire HD should be able to recieve wireless N traffic.

Nice app, but don't really see myself using this very much. I'm looking for a way to stream music from online radio stations to apple tv or airplay. This is not for that.

I was thrilled when this app detected that I was running a WiFi hotspot. Other Air-tunes apps did not. This allowed me to bring technology to a sleepy cabin in the mountains.

I've been using this for about a year now and it was never great, sometime choppy, sometime not. In the last few weeks the program unexpectedly quits after 10-20 minutes every time. Nothing on the phone has changed and the app hasn't even been updated. WTF? Can no one make a good airplay receiver app? I will pay good money for one that works.
