BT Smart Home Cam for Android
i have been using this app every day for over a year. i works 95% of the time when the BT servers are online, and occasionally drop out preventing connection. the app has not been updated visually since i have been using it. but, i don't really care about the interface, as long as i can view my cameras. the interface looks like the head of bt smart home service asked there teenage son/daughter to create an app for the business while there in bed waiting to fall asleep. then they showed their parent, and they replied "yer, that will do".
£6.99 every 30 days to even see ANY motion detection is a complete joke. Shame on you BT.
Unable to connect the camera to Chrome book. Premium features are very costly. Not worth the money. Don't buy.
Can't look back forward events on app, can on laptop but not previous events on app, but clear cam is good
The cam viewing is fine but the upgraded record only seems to store the last 20 or so events which is useless.......
Can see what's going on at home from anywhere
crap
The app itself is just about ok. However, it won't record unless you pay b.t. £6.99 a month and you can only view images remotely for 15 minutes at a time. Don't buy the camera. Complete waste of money. Pay just a few pounds more for something that does the job without paying £6.99. Like I said, the app is maybe 3 stars but the limitations of the hardware make it not worth installing.
The point of the camera is what?I can see through the windows who is at my front door, when I am at home? I wanted to be able to do it when I was at work.
Not bad but new update has made it worse, cant connect via 4G now but could before, new bugs by looks of it....
No way
Events will only show 1 page will not go forward or back on App , please fix this issue...
No problem with setup. Monitored home from work today.
No problems with the app for the last year but now the recordings are only accessible for 4 hours through this app. Contacted customer services at BT and they have looked into the problem - they say the fault is with the app. I agree with them as I can view the recordings through the Internet. I hope it will be sorted.
Could not be more happier. I got a Assistance Dog, now my wife and I enjoy rock and roll tribute shows, now as the music is loud add him being black people could step on him, so we leave him at home. He is happy and best of all settled. The camera is the key we watch him settle once we saw him wake up to look at a cheeky moth flying to close to him.
The app kept saying it wasn't my email? Then eventually recognised it but now won't recognised my password and doesn't allow the reset my password. Wasted all day on it now it's going back.
By camera firmware upgrades has taken away the motion detection feature to only work if you pay subscription. £6.99 for EACH camera for 30 days. Used to get app push notifications and emails with motion detection and you only had to pay to store these images online. Only 5000 downloads. Hope they realise the failed marketing. I've moved away from BT as well due to poor service!
Don't record at night rubbish, if you had burglary oh dread to think. Now has stopped working , randomly knocking night vision off on. 10 hours of no recording.
But anywhere else - forget it. About as much use as a chocolate teapot! Yes, I do know how to set it up, yes, I have tried all the options available to "fix it" but to date it doesn't work anywhere but at my home. Anyone having the same problem? If so I would love to hear how you got it to work. Thanks.
Hands off until the premium features are available for free. Would recommend other cheaper home security cameras which provide these features for free. Push notifications aren't working.
Recently brought this, but when going out its ok. When I come home and it connects back the home wifi. It keeps saying unable to receive data from the camera. Tried several times, but still unable to receive data. I have to keep turning the camera off, then on. I feel embarrassed as I work for the company. Please sort this out now.
Good picture quality. Doesn't save to email, save to cloud only at prenium rate.
I get notifications to my work iPhone but not to the android app. Poor.
Extremely bad i have foscam and works very well this cam with its app is a joke the problem is BT doesn't let you connect any other ipcam BT cam switches off every 15 minutes and you have no sound when watching on your laptop.
Tricky for others to share. They must create account, this is not stated clearly.
Good worked first time when set up
It was working perfectly until I was using an IPHONE6!!! it just keeps crashing....
Worked for a while now video stops streaming after a few hours. Help desk take forever to answer but friendly when eventually get through. I would not recomend buying this based on yhe trouble I've had and the fact it still doesn't work after being told all the problems have been fixed.
totally useless and miserable support. I have Applestore US account and BT HOME CAM Is only available in UK Applestore. Helpline a waste of time.
Updated review. When I bought this camera a few months back the app would not show me the video feed while using my mobile connection even on 4G. Only WiFi worked. It really limited the usefulness of the camera. However I applied an offered camera firmware update today and now video plays flawlessly on the app from my camera via WiFi and mobile connection, even 2g. Very happy and doing the job nicely.
I have downloaded bt smart home cam. Since no joy and you can not login at all. Call bt, said that I should call bt shop and call bt shop, said I should call bt and we are not dealing with apps. We just sell products but not providing any of support. Great help and customer service that taking hands
£6.99 a month for premium features?! You're having a laugh! Rival cameras offer this for free.
Using a Sony Experia T2, even on wifi, the app reports that the camera is offline. This is simply wrong. I know this because my ipad app connects instantly. The android app logs in but that's all it does. When it logs in, it logs me out of the ipad but suddenly the camera is allegedly "Offline". This android app is totally useless.
Either the app or the cam keep losing the connection. Don't waste your time or money.
I realize that this is supposed to be a review of the app but why has BT produced a security camera that performs badly at night? Probably the time of day when a burglary is most likely to happen! Apparently this product uses just four IR LEDs. What good is that in most rooms? It's a real shame.
About every few days the camera looses connection to the app. It still has internet connection because it records incidents to the cloud. BT sort it or refund please.
Okay until updated then can only connect via wi-fi
Don't know whether it's a camera or app issue, but when out and about I can only see video on a WiFi connection. Even in the centre of Edinburgh with full strength 4g it was unable to connect to video. Reducing quality and frame rate made no difference. Lots of false alerts about motion detection, about every 5 mins! Which I think was largely due to connection issues, but not always. If this was "try before you buy" it would all be going back. The camera costs £100 so cheap webcam is a better option.
Good

This camera is just a camera you can view over the web. You need to pay £6.99 a month for any useful features. The latest update slowed the access down and made it unreliable. One to avoid.
