Hype! for Android
I love the music on hype, but the app dosn't allow scrolling through a song, which i like to do when listening to new songs to get past the intos and to the meat of a song.
Only reason it didn't get five stars is that every now and then it won't load my playlist, aside from that its great!
Been skipping lately..whats up with that?
Great app on ICS. Come on Hype Machine guys, sort it out.
I really love this app - access to Hype Machine exactly as it should be. However it is marked as not compatible with my Nexus 4. Please provide support for Jelly Bean and the Nexus 4. Thanks.
Hype! was my Hype Machine app of choice for over 2 years. Droid X v1, now Galaxy Nexus. My latest update (rooted) AOKP toro 4.2.1. To be fair, I haven't emailed the devs about this. I'm just throwing this up to anyone who might be in same situation. Will update if it's rectified / updated.
This is a better app in my opinion than uberhype which I find cumbersome. The one thing that I dislike about it is that your play list dies if it hits a song that is unplayable not being available anymore. It would be great to have the app skip on to the next one like the website does. If you've been a hype user for a while you know that many tracks you have favorited are no longer available. The website just skips on to the next one, but with his app it kills the play list. Other than that and the occasional unreachable play list I'd say it's a fantastic app. It's free being add supported, but the adds are not intrusive. I also like the simple interface.
This is full of glitches and annoyances. When the music's stopped, pressing 'play' either plays the song, does nothing, or freezes. There's no 'restart' button. Get used to switching to another song, then back. Switching to a phone call, or any other audio app, causes annoying messages when the audio loses and regains focus - even if nothing's playing. Sure glad not all apps do that. Initially this review was 3/5, but over time these issues make the app almost unusable.
So happy with this application. Long time user, constant updates to fix any bugs. Keep it up!!
Much more stable now. The ui can do with some more work. But other than that great app.
doesnt work on my galaxy nexus. worked on my "old" galaxy nexus, but now says is uncompatable, WHY?! i hate using uberhype compared to this one. if you can get this app, it flippin rules. if not uberhype i guess until an update comes. so sad.
Been using this on my Desire on ICS but since I've started running the JB ROM it says it's not compatible anymore. Seems like a peculiar reason why it shouldn't work.
Hype Machine is my favorite website and though this app can be buggy in terms of finding networks, this app is a must on my phone for walking, car rides, or anywhere I go. Plus you can't beat free!
STILL SKIPS n FREEZES ALOT. Wish there was an option to queue. Been using for yrs, hasn't gotten best. Love the UI, trying UberHype again.
People download uberhype, it has a really good ui and is so much better than hype!. I dont get how this got more stars it shows me how dumb this world is with a whole bunch of stupid people.
A lot of bugs. Good when it works but it only works 1/4th of the time! So many bugs! App hangs on "loading" all the time, even when I have a full data connection. I frequently have to log out and log back in and even that doesn't always work. Dev needs to iron out the bugs on this!
Loved this app when i was running ICS! It was great and i got to carry all the music i liked around. However, upon updating to Jelly Bean it doesn't work anymore. Please update the app in order to work for Jelly Bean! Until then i have to use Uberhype, which isn't as good as this app.
Can't use since I upgraded to 4.1 - worked great on ICS, but JB doesn't work.
Twas so great before the update. Now it crashes way more than before. I need to get my fix, but not with constant crashing.
The main advantage of this app is that it doesn't crash every now and then as Uberhype. That's about it. It's not possible to explore or subscribe to blogs, the interface is quite laggy and always leaves you wondering, "did I or did I not press that play button?". If money wold make any difference I'd gladly pay for a better app.
Can you please add shake phone to go to next track for those driving
Ahh, what would I do without hypem on my phone! Keep up the good work, dev
I've been using this app ever since I discovered the wonders of hype machine. The UI matches that of the website, which is always good. I A few suggestions. If it shows the album art along with a play and skip button in the status bar widget like Google Music does, that would be awesome. Also, a donate ad free version and a home screen widget would be cool too. I'm running miui v4 on my Galaxy Nexus and i would love if the app worked with the lock screen music controls. Great app. Well done!
This app used to be magnificent but now it won't play a single song on majority of the playlists. If I shuffle my favourites and then scroll down to a random song it will SOMETIMES play but besides that everything else responds with "Hype! has experienced an error. Stopping." I've also noticed the e-mail address & website associated with this app are no longer in service. I've also noticed that Hype machine is making an official app for Android which is exciting but I hope it's free.
Far superior to other apps. Most importantly it is incredibly stable (unlike its competitors). No random crashes. Has all my subscriptions, friends, loved songs. Beautiful hypem style UI. My fav app. Please add a widget I can put on my lockscreen. :)
Unpredictable and crashes all the time, STILL, IT'S OUR ONLY CHOICE FOR US ANDROID USERS. ---- I won't take my chances on filling in my username and password, not knowing how secure this app is.
Implementation is really good. I'm loving the speed, I'm on a pretty basic Android (Motorola XPRT) and it runs very quickly. I wish it had the ability to select genres like the site, but other than than, it's dope!
One day it just suddenly stopped working and says it is incompatible with my devices.
Worked perfectly until "Playlist died" 2 days ago. Logging out and back in, force closing, or clearing cache does not fix the problem. Galaxy Nexus ICS 4.0.2
Playlist dies often - won't work then
Great for listening to music on the go, playlists make it easy to get the good stuff. Only problem is the occasional crashes when switching songs.. please fix :)
App works great and is my favorite hypem app, but it needs an update to be compatible with 4.2 and the Nexus 4!
Too many ads, no paid option, and suddenly very crash-prone. Uninstalled. Uberhype is better.
It's essence is correct but it lacks finish. It uses copious amounts of ram and in result drains battery life. It also lacks fluidity. A few simple improvements could make this app an essential for all music lovers on android
Congrats for making it on the main site as the unofficial app. Really is a great app.
Not sure if this is because of a recent update but seems to be marked incompatible with 4.1 jelly bean now. Please extend the compatibility on the play store!
Like the interface, controls have manageable size even for phones with small screens. I use the app everyday and totally love it!
It seems to work on Android 4.2.2. If I am searching the app in Play store it wouldn't be displayed (since is not officially compatible with the Android version I have), but I installed the app from one of my previous backups (either clockworkmod or saved from the app folder on sdcard). Login is ok, music is played normal, skips are possible, playlist displayed, my playlists and favorites are ok. "Playlist died :(" message is displayed if no data or wifi are connected and the "now try again button is not working. Just restarted the app and all is fine.
Incredible app! Would love to see a "song repeat" button.

Love me some HypeM but need an update for JellyBean! Not a big fan of UberHype.
