About ICS+ Enhanced Ringer Ctl Trial

Does it annoy you that in Android 4.0 (ICS) and above, the ability to unlink the Notification and Ringer volume has been removed? It annoys the heck out of me! At night time I want my notification volume muted, but my ringer volume turned up so I don't miss calls. It has bugged me so much since I switched to ICS that I decided to write an app to "work around" the issue.

So, what does the app do? Well when your phone rings or receives an SMS it tells the phone to ignore the system sound settings in regards to notification volume/vibration, and uses the settings specified within this app instead.

* Now With Blackberry style Sound Profiles! Something I've been working on forever!
* Now also with integration into Locale, Tasker and Llama!

Please don't just leave negative comments if you find issues, or something isn't working correctly. I have no way of directly replying to them! PLEASE report them to icsenhancedringercontrol@gmail.com and I will squash any issues you encounter ASAP.

Note that this is a fully functional, time-limited trial version. It lets you experience the full version of ICS+ Enhanced Ringer Control for 48 hours (2 days). At that time, you can choose if you want to upgrade to the full version. When the application expires, it will keep the current settings until the next time you launch the application, at which time it will automatically disable.

**Jellybean Users** It's confirmed working fine for many users on JB - both 4.1.x and 4.2.x

Full instructions - http://goo.gl/Zndaq

Basic Instructions:

After installing the app, open it, then set your usual alert volume (this affects emails/facebook/twitter/stuff like that) and whether you want it to vibrate or not. Next, choose the volume you want the ringer to be, and whether you want it to vibrate or not. Then, choose the volume you want your SMS notification to be and whether you want it to vibrate or not, then finally check the "enable" box in the bottom-right corner of the SMS box to enable it. At this point, when you receive a phone call or sms, it will ignore the notification volume settings, and use these settings instead.

At any time, you can decide whether to add the app to the notification bar for easy access and to quickly see if ICS+ Enhanced Ringer Control is enabled or not. Just check the box labelled "Show Icon in Notification Bar".

To disable ICS+ Enhanced Ringer Control, just launch the app again and uncheck the last checkbox. The regular notification volume settings will kick in as per normal.

Permissions Explained:
"RECEIVE SMS" - the app needs to know when you receive an SMS so that it can apply the alternate sound settings temporarily

"READ PHONE STATE AND IDENTITY" - this is the permission that tells the app that the phone is ringing. When this event is detected, it applies the alternate sound settings until the phone stops ringing.

"RECEIVE BOOT COMPLETED" - once the phone finishes booting up, this permission allows the app to be aware of the reboot and start itself up. You wouldn't want to have to remember to start the app every time you reboot would you??

*** GO SMS PRO users, for ICS Enhanced Ringer Control to work for SMS you must do this -> In Go SMS Pro, go to Settings > Advanced > Receive Settings ... and uncheck "Disable other message notification". Then go into the stock SMS app, and disable notifications manually from in there. It "might" already be disabled, but its worthwhile making sure.

To do list:
* Implement same functionality for SMSs **DONE**
* Ability to alter phone/sms volume/vibration **DONE**
* Give option to have a notification in notification bar **DONE**
* Include all the standard android volume streams in the app ... media/alarm, etc. **DONE**
* Think about best way to incorporate settings into a widget **DONE**
* Look at ways to integrate these settings into automation apps such as tasker/locale/llama. **DONE**
* Enable sound "profiles" feature, to save volume presets and recall them quickly. **DONE**

Amazing!!!

K70%
by K####:

I had been frustrated trying to separate my notification audio and my ringtone. It seems it's either all sounds are on or all are muted. This app successfully mutes my notification sounds while still letting my ringtone stay on.The only thing missing is the widget.

C70%
by C####:

I have been looking for a program that does this because since I updated my HTC os, notifications and ringtone volumes are one and the same. Works like a charm, just don't forget to check the box "enable" like I did first time. Lol!

C70%
by C####:

Thank you for fixing this annoying ICS "feature."

T70%

Can't rate it low since it is even in the title that this is for ICS. Sadly, it doesn't work for JB --HTC One

T70%
by T####:

Was really hoping this would work but unfortunately didn't (stock Droid Razr running JB 4.1.2). Followed instructions, checked settings of this and texting app, checked website, restarted phone, emailed developer -- all to no avail. Thanks for the trial though

X70%
by X####:

Running jelly bean 4.1.2 and this app does not separate the ringer from notifications. Tested it multiple times then reported the problem to the developer with no response. Over a month later and still no announcement regarding this issue anywhere by him. Glad I got the trial and didn't buy the full version right away.

As others have said, lovely idea but you need to incorporate an automatic volume adjust like Audio Guru and I would pay, for now uninstall and back to my old app.

$$ for a volume control? Economics 101: (Supply & Demand) We'll soon have another option for less.

T70%
by T####:

Just needs profiles and widgets to be able to quickly select those profiles...like AudioManager Pro

N70%
by N####:

All it needs is profiles and widgets for me to buy it. Whoever thought linking these two things was a good idea needs to be fired

T70%
by T####:

Please add profiles, widgets, and auto profile change based on time and GPS. This works great on my Samsung Galaxy Nexus!

Incorporate profiles and Widgets, and you'll have a user for life.

Worked 1st night, then email notifications started waking me up 3am this morning!!! :(

T70%

Does pretty much nothing useful on Note 2.

T70%
by T####:

Turned ringer all the way down and SMS all the way up.... SMS stayed the same volume as my ringer :(

T70%
by T####:

Settings do not override my ringer settings on my Galaxy S3. No way i will risk 2.99 for the full version.

P70%
by P####:

Fixes the dumbest setting ever. Thanks for having a free trial version

R70%
by R####:

Works great and bought the paid app version. Thanks!

I70%
by I####:

It doesn't work on my phone. It still links both volumes together.

N70%
by N####:

Does not actually work on the Nexus S 4G. It creates separate slider controls for ringer volume and notifications but does not actually unlink the system default of one volume.

U70%
by U####:

I downloaded this to have the ability to hear phone calls (with vibration) but ignore every other notification. On the settings in the app, everything looks in order, but after a phone call is received, the notification vibration check box becomes checked. This causes to phone to vibrate on subsequent emails. Uninstalled, went with Audio Control by Matthew Rice.

T70%
by T####:

Works great on my Samsung Captivate running an alpha build of an ICS Custom ROM

R70%
by R####:

After fiddling around with the settings I got this to work! I'll be buying the actual app!
