Searching for a presenter's full name doesn't work. One has to instead search for first or last name only. My schedule doesn't show the name of the presenter without clicking on the talk to view the presentation details.

K70%
by K####:

Requires ability to make/manage phone calls and access media on my phone. Without allowing these permissions, app doesn't function at all.

K70%
by K####:

As other people have pointed out, extreme permissions overreach without which the app refuses to function.

K70%
by K####:

I refuse to give this app all the intrusive permissions that are MANDATORY to run it.

L70%
by L####:

App does not function (at least on an Android phone); closes immediately upon being opened.

F70%
by F####:

Search option doesn't function well and cannot be trusted. That is the main purpose of these kinds of apps. But it does have the schedule.... the only positive side of the app.

L70%
by L####:

Doesnt work and requires way too many permissions

K70%
by K####:

why does the app need access to my phone? I can see that access to my calendar could be useful...

C70%
by C####:

Too many unneeded permissions

K70%
by K####:

Mandatory phone management? Really?

N70%
by N####:

Crash on mi4

K70%
by K####:

The app shows all of the presentations in a clear way and had a schedule organizer so you can easily organize which presentations you want to go see. I thought it was very helpful. I agree there permissions are a little intrusive. Not sure why you need to give it permission to your phone calls.

K70%
by K####:

Terrible. This app won't do anything unless you grant it all permissions, and those permissions are intrusive.

K70%
by K####:

The app wants to receive and make phone calls on my behalf? And I need to grant it permission to access my photos? No thanks.

K70%
by K####:

This app is absolutely terrible! I click the button for floor plan and it just opens a link in chrome to download a pdf!! Why did i need the app for that?

K70%
by K####:

It should not be necessary to give a scientific conference app these kinds of permissions. Will not be using it.

K70%
by K####:

why do you need permissions to manage my phone calls, my photos etc. ?

X70%
by X####:

Why does it need the permissions it does? It's intrusive and I refuse to use it

K70%
by K####:

Why need access to phone id and calls? Otherwise works

K70%
by K####:

Spontaneously logged me out and won't let me log back in. When I go to the no login option, it does not remember what I had already stored on my phone. Not happy. Since we don't get big paper programs anymore, this is the best way to look up talks period that it's not working is unacceptable.

Each March Meeting, I install this app with disgust due to the number of unnecessary permissions it requires. Sadly, this year I learned that it is not afraid to use them! Upon installing, and *without* asking for further permission, this app synced my entire March Meeting schedule to a *shared* calendar I can access on my device, and it *set an alarm* five minutes before each talk I plan to attend, for everybody in my shared calendar. Can you imagine this alarm going off several times per day for several people I know? Even after unchecking "sync schedule with device calendar" in the app, I was still forced to remove tens of events from my shared calendar for the week. Even then, the app provides no option to sync to a calendar other than the one it arbitrarily decided to sync with. Because this app is proprietary, I am unable to fix these issues, or be warned of them before trying it. APS, please commission a new app, and please ensure that it be open source so that users can fix such egregious issues with it!

absolute garbage. just directs you to their website...

Q70%
by Q####:

Unbelievably slow. I never saw apps that slow probably since 2010.... Guys, i cant load the APS website in my browser and find everything i need before this app even finishes syncing. Is this the way it is supposed to be??? Why cant i even get to the dashboard before the app finishes syncing? Shame!

by H####:

Definitely worse than last year. You can't get to a session from the details page for a talk! So if I'm in my schedule, I have to memorize what session it is, go back, click on agenda, then scroll to the session, and click on it to see what other talks are in that session. This should be a single click from the talk details page. Additionally, people are missing from both the presenter list and attendee list and the floor plan buttons are just links to download pdfs.

Y70%
by Y####:

The GUI is inconsistent ("search" functionality is implemented differently on different pages) and not intuitive. Search does not always work - frequently it reports only one results when multiple are shown on the website. "Sync calendar" does not seem to work (nothing shows in the device calendar).

V70%
by V####:

Pointless. Merely lists APS mtgs and gives a link to a webpage for each.

G70%
by G####:

Nothing happens after I click on 'select event'

K70%
by K####:

Requires needless permissions and is buggy. I tried it and had to log into my APS account to set up a schedule. Later it crashed and I lost all the events I had set unless I logged in again. Also defaults to the screen to select a meeting even if you open another app at the same time. There's a gem here, but it's buried pretty deeply.

I've been very disappointed by this App. First, the content of this App is mostly text. Hence, there is no way to justify how ridiculously slow and unresponsive it is on my Nexus 5. Next, there are 26 "time slots" in the march meeting, from A to Z. In these time slots, there are usually 51 sessions, i.e. simultaneous talks. There are usually 15 talks by sessions. Overestimating the content of an abstract to be one page (3000 characters, or Bytes), it means that the whole content of the March Meeting is bounded by 26*51*15*3000/(1e6 MBytes/Bytes) = 60 MBytes. How then did the app manage to take 68 MBytes of my roaming data remains a mystery, especially since I only look at the content of 52 sessions and that I never loaded an abstract (i.e. I only read the titles). Note that this 68 MBytes of data is more than all the other app I used, including Google Map. I understand that there's probably some redundancy in the database to allow fast searching. However, see first point, i.e. the app remains very slow anyway. In the end, I think the App next year should implement a lot less features, but implement these features right.

K70%
by K####:

App permissions unnecessarily extensive and, for some obscene reason, required for app to run. Will not be using until devs fix this

U70%
by U####:

Garbage. Won't even load. Shouldn't need these permissions.

S70%
by S####:

Good

K70%
by K####:

Nice to have an app that makes all the meeting data available without a giant dead-tree book, but why does it need all the device permissions it requests? Call data? Camera access? Seems like they could pare down that list.

K70%
by K####:

Horrible experience on Android 7.1. asks for permissions beforehand, slow and sluggish, crashes while scrolling (no recycler view?)

K70%
by K####:

Just downloaded this app. I think it's a step in the right direction by APS. With time I am sure they will improve upon its features to make it more convenient for users based on feedback.
