KANJI
Human Japanese Intermediate also gets into kanji in a big way. At the end of most chapters, a new batch of kanji is introduced, with animations of each character, plus example sentences, illustrations, writing tips, and more. Our goal is not to simply throw a bag of characters in your lap, but to carefully explain how everything works.
To this end, Human Japanese Intermediate keeps track of which kanji you've learned at what point in the text and automatically adjusts the "spelling" of words in example sentences as appropriate to your current knowledge. So early on, you might encounter the following sentence:
そのひとの なまえを しらない。
But later, after you've met several of kanji used in these words, the version you would see is:
その人の 名前を 知らない。
This approach removes the most overwhelming aspect of learning kanji--the fact that most sentences contain many characters you don't yet know--and that helps you to stay focused and energized.
QUIZZES
Stay sharp with five different kinds of quizzes: chapter reviews, vocab, conjugation, kanji stroke order, and kanji flashcard.
Quizzes keep track of which questions you get right and wrong, to help you concentrate on your trouble spots.
And when you get a question wrong, it's not simply "Try again." Wherever possible, the quiz provides a hint that is specific to that question, to help you remember and learn.

Reads very well and is presented in bite-sized pages at a time. Are you a linguist? Do you know what a gerund is? If so, there are plenty of other resources that cater to that. For the rest of us, this app is a great way of getting practical knowledge about a language.

After completing the first HJ, I realized that I needed to get a lot of input in my brain, what I mean by that is to listen to as much of the Japanese language as possible from every source you can find. Like music, movies, shows, friends..etc. and also reading lots of Japanese with a dictionary on the side . This will help with your output and by that, I mean speaking. This app has too much English for me but its perfect if you want to learn on your own without depending on schools that are pricey.

Kanji with furigana? Please make this app have all Kanji with furigana instead of only hiragana. For the intermediate level, this is unacceptable and handicaps learners. Fix this and then I'd consider purchasing the app.

Excellent app! I really wanted to learn japanese and many friends recommended Human Japanese, but I 'm a beginner and need to start from zero! Why the 1st version is that expensive! =( If you could make the starting app free since it's important, and then whoever wants to proceed should pay =/

This app is indeed excellent, but really does need these two things. First, I would love the option to remove spaces completely. They aren't in real japanese. Secondly and more pressingly I'd like to request the option to enable or disable all kanji at will, or at least choose my starting kanji proficiency. Since I know them, I want to be able to use them here from the beginning.

It's a great app for learning Japanese, and the explanations are the best I've come across. Nearly perfect. I'd give it 5 stars of progress was maintained over multiple devices. If I do a couple of lessons on my tablet and them use it on my phone, it would be nice to be able to pick up right where I left off.

This is a real textbook, not just a phrasebook. But the explanations are better than any other textbooks i have used. And the multimedia support elements are very good and useful. Human Japanese was good, Human Japanese Intermediate is even better. It may seem pricey for an "app", but it is a bargain for an extensive high quality multimedia language learning resource.
