Bodyweight Fitness for Android
The UI is nice and intuitive, but that's about all I can say for it. There's no real explanation of how to do the different exercises, and with something like planking or the hollow body hold it's crucial to get the right posture. The "explanation video" was just someone silently doing a HBH for 60 seconds -- cool, but not helpful. And it's impossible to tell at the main screen if you completed any given exercise.
Is that is fantastic - I was just getting ready to enter all this information manually into a difference tracker when I found it. The only thing i would change is adding Google Fit integration so that we could try to. work out. My other teacher does use google fit, so once i get used to this routine i may switxh back just to easily log my exercises. Google fit would bring me to five stars + pro version
Really superb app for anyone interested in bodyweight fitness - leads you through many progressions for warming up, skill based work and strength training. You can also follow some stretching and mobility workouts. I particularly like the fact I can look back at last session so I can try to improve a little each session. Has pretty much everything you could need. The one thing I would possibly like to see is 2 timers for skills work - 1 that just counts how long you've been working and a 2nd telling you how much handstand you have accumulated. Also, I would like it to remember what progression I am on between sessions. Great app that is fabulously functional.
I did not have time to use the app before exiting to honor the prompt to review it. My first impression is simply that the app designer did what was essential and nothing more, and dit it very well. I prefer not to have account credentials linked to every single flashy high finish app I come across only to find out they are useless to me; that any level of quality is present in an app that does not require that charade is itself impressive. Many look as though they were written with a Java 1.3 target
Good exercises, nice clean interface. The buttons are somewhat counterintuitive sometimes but nothing too hard to figure out after clicking around a bit. It's also great that the tutorial is a gif rather than a full blown video like some other apps.
I think it's a great tool to use in conjunction with the subreddit /r/bodyweightfitness' starting program. That said, make sure you're reading the subreddit and go over the routine on there, as it has in-depth explanations of the workouts and routine itself. This app is meant as more of a lot and timer, as well as to show you form so you don't have to switch to videos on the subreddit as you're working. That is exactly what I was looking for, to be honest!
Great app for tracking & timing of the reddit bodyweight program. I think many who are complaining about lack of extra exercises & needing equipment don't realise it's a companion app for reddit bodyweight workout. Perhaps they expect it to be a complete stand alone workout app. Took me a bit of experimenting at 1st but soon got it figgered out. Love it!!!
Like some others have said, at first logging sets is not very intuitive. But by the end of one or two workouts you'll have the hang of it. 5 starts for quality content, being able to export logged workout stats, and ZERO ads.. It's very refreshing.
Just simply right app who wants to improve their strength and start with execercising. Since this is based on progression routine, you can start with your comfortable level and progress as you go. I was never fan of push ups but as I followed this reddit community, I am improving my push ups and I am not skipping it. I hope to follow as much as I can. Thanks guys for this. You are making a difference
Great app for tracking Reddit's recommended routine body weight workout. It can also track a couple others, but I don't do those routines. It's not perfect, but it was a big help when just starting and I didn't have the routine memorized. The price is right and it is handy to have a record of your workouts.
Weird, unintelligible user interface. Requires bulky training equipment that I am not willing to buy and store. I think this app has good potential. The user interface could be improved a lot, and exercises changed to allow for normal home use without special equipment. For now: uninstalled.
This is a great way to keep track of the Recommended Routine (RR) from the Bodyweight Reddit. There is lots of support for the exercise progressions there. At first glance, to someone who does not understand its goal, it may seem a bit confusing. It is not perfect, but the built in timers and logging are spot on.
I just started using it and it has everything I need to follow the program. The only thing that might make it a little better is if I could delete sets that are accidently logged. I know if I set it to zero it does the same thing, but a delete option would be nice. If only I had the equipment to do everything too.
There are 3 things that should be improved: More information about each exercise. Better and less confusing interface. And easier way to customise your exercise. Because of lack of detailed description of each exercise, this app is useless for beginners. On other had because of confusing way reps and timer is displayed, this app is more hussle than benefit for experienced users. Just check out regular routine on reddit and you will be fine. This app has a potential, but it needs more work...
Thank you for the simple visual reference. Too many people get bogged down in talking about things. This lets us use our brains and our eyes. A picture paints a thousand words and gives a deeper intuitive understanding.
Very nice. Much better than average routines, with decent and, importantly, streamlined explanation and links to learn more. FOLLOW THE LINKS, for harder variants, which a great many people will need (they get much harder) and more detailed explanations, as well included in the app is only enough to remind you of the exercise.
I think it's a great and very easy to understand app that will bring you to Do your daily or routined workouts. Though some buttons should have a different design, I really like the whole thing!
I wanted to follow the recommended routine from the Bodyweight Fitness Reddit community but I was a bit overwhelmed by all the new information. The app has been really helpful for getting started in my first week without needing to constantly pause to read what I need to do next. It's no substitute for reading how to perform the different exercises properly but as a prompt, a reminder and a tracker it works great.
It's a great app and a great workout. I'd like to see a wider variety of choices, especially for those of us who don't have rings, but considering you're paying absolutely nothing and getting not only a great workout with video of how to perform the moves, but two stretching programs, it definitely deserves five stars.
Cons: Alarm is too quiet behind music and could use adjustable volume. The process for logging sets isn't intuitive at first. Look at the default Android + button in the bottom right corner that reveals more options, this would be more contiguous. Gifs that don't need to be more than 1 frame shouldn't be. I was confused if the gif was actually that short or it was a glitch. EDIT: Big problem, the timer gives a clock face to select your time. Click faces go 1-12, what if the user wants a time < 1min?
The exercises are set in a good progression and hit the neck area down to the toes. The app isn't buggy and is easy to use.
If you've read through the program description at the r/bodyweightfitness subreddit, it works great as a tracker. Not as good on its own, but that's not how I'm using it.
Open sourced, no ads, high quality offline videos, links to extra reading material and explanations. The absolute best fitness app I've ever come across.
Unable to delete first set if accidentally added, stats not always updated instantly. Great app other than that, appreciate its opensourceness :)
I'd rather spend my mental energy doing the workout instead of keeping track of where I am in my progressions. Fortunately, that's taken care of already with the app. Now it's super easy to get busy doing the thing instead of thinking about it.
Great app. Makes it very easy to stay motivated, follow along, and track your progress. Links to the videos help with any tricky or unclear moves. Simple and does the job.
Its a good basic free app helping to keep you on track with bodyweight/mobility work. Definitely not the most sophisticated app, but it's a great freeware contribution. I'm using for stretching/mobility but am using another app for strength so can't comment on that at this time.
A bit confusing how to start and change modes. You are suppose to click on the text at the top
For anyone curious, this is the companion app for the subreddit /r/bodyweight. All the explanations are there. This is why there aren't many explanations in the app.
There's a few areas that need improvement. I would like the option of written descriptions of the exercises in further detail explaining what areas are being effected and so on. But other than that I'm very happy with the current build and don't see myself moving on to another app.
Well developed app, but the content kinda sucks.. It's the same workout over and over? Lame..
Love the walk through of the exercises, but I found it hard to track how many sets and reps I did in the moment. I went back and edited to get credit, but it wasn't very clear.
Love the exercises. I am feeling much stronger. The audio seems to have a bug where the timer stops beeping part way through the routine.
My only suggestion is a feature where users are able to tell the app whether or not they have specific equipment. That way they don't have to see an incomplete workout when they did everything they could do.
It's a completely free, ad-free app that allows me to easily access exercises I'd otherwise have to keep looking up on YouTube AND it tracks progress. What more could I ask for? Wonderful way to make bodyweightfitness accessible.
Very comprehensive, ads free, open source. This software is pure love. Of course it has bugs as every single piece of software, but is awesome that the dev (and collegues) made the generous effort to bring us this app. Try it! and once you do it, chip in and donate!
Best free visual work out routine app on the app store for body weight training. I injured my lumbar spine region L5-S1 and after surgery was told that I may never be able to regain mobility or strength pre-injury and the only work out routine I could ever do again was those that focuse on leveraging your body weight (due to the nature of the injurary). So if you in the same boat I was 5yrs ago this is the app for you! Progressions are evenly spaced out and the stretching plus mobility routines are close to those you would learn in physical therapy. Thanks dev!
Great fitness app, but you must keep in mind, it MOSTLY works as an easy way to follow the routine that's outlined in detail over at /r/bodyweightfitness . I am glad they included links to videos showing the full exercises though. :)
Good stuff. Sometimes the timer forgets to log my times, but I can manually add them in if I catch it.

There were a few things I didn't pick up on with the UX, like how the app doesn't force me to do the suggested (for example) 3 sets of 8 - 10 reps, it just gives me the interface to record what I did. And it does need some equipment, a resistance band for stretching, bars for dips, and bars for pull ups. I suppose the latter can be done at a park. The app has basic gif videos to show you how to do the exercises.
