MINI Connected Classic for Android
Update: Managed to get Spotify premium working on an iPhone 6 but is unstable due to it it constantly trying to read all tracks/album art on my device. I have offline music saved on my phone but it is still trying to read all music in my Spotify account , therefore it crashes frequently. Please can you turn album art off or stop it reading music that's not offline.... Original review: Just bought a new Mini JCW and the app is not compatible with my Oneplus one (Android 6.0). Can you fix it please?
This is as awful an app, as stated by other reviews on both apple and here, untouched for over a year and indirectly costing a lot. For me despite being limited, the app would not connect at all. Was hoping to load the go pro app, no chance. This is so bad an abandoned app, it should not be allowed on the app store.
Would be a great app if it does what it says but unfortunately after wasting a lot of time it still doesn't work. Followed all instructions, phone is compatible but zilch. Disappointed that Mini appears not to have taken any notice of comments here.
Spent ages trying to get Amazon music working. Both Amazon and Mini websites imply it works, with mention of iOS and Android apps, but it doesn't. The in-built audio player works intermittently - sometimes there is audio and sometimes not and even when it works I hear clicks every 10 seconds or so. Disappointed with the silence from BMW regarding poor android support...
Why oh why can't the android app get the same functionality at the iOS version. It's been years and still it's a second class app with limited functionality.
Please update and bring this app and the hardware in the car into the 21st century. It is currently embarrassing at best. I will not buy another MINI with this pathetic on board system.
I got an update at the dealer and now it shows that my version is not supported. substandard to the iOS version even though I could use Spotify everything else the iOS can do this version doesn't. Fix this godamn app BMW
Used to be brilliant. Now so basic its it's a waste of time and the £1400 spent on the XL system for my MINI is a VERY expensive mistake. No more Spotify integration?? Ridiculous
Can't even log in. Tells me log in details incorrect even after changing password like 3 times. Shocking.
finaly got it to work with my s7 edge. just need to update the Software(in car) to latest version
App doesnt appear to allow me to connect my S7 to my new mini for anything useful. I dont understand the point of this?
Works great with my iPhone but Android is non-existent. Stop conning people get the Android version stored.
Not helpful at all on my daily commutation. Onboard features can't use phone's data connection either, e.g. for rtti.
Please make it sleek, able to watch youtube and also rss feeds, hire me to help mini develop this.. plzz
Update - started to work on my Z5. Not great but music, twitter, rss feeds now work on Android 6.
App created to do nothing. Does not connecting. Should be called mini not connected.
Nothing more to say. Really poor show Mini!
A shame. Not even music controlls. It's literally useless. :/ You can do better BMW!
Handset not detected on USB C. On last handset it was not a great app
Completely useless, and mini don't have a clue about whether it should work..all I want was Spotify!
Utter rubbish. Mini are advertising features that just do not work for the vast majority of users - if they spent as much on the product as they clearly have on advertising it might actually be of some use. Considering a 'miss-sold' claim as dealer described what a great advantage the Visual Boost system would be with Connected. Utter tosh. I have a 6 year old Aygo which when new was one third of the price of my mini but provides great connectivity to my phone. Really mini are missing a trick here - get some decent developers and they could have a great product instead of this utter garbage.
This app is nothing but the basics. No third party audio support from Spotify, Amazon music or any other of the ones touted by the website. Those are supported by Apple and as I went for a drive with my friend who loves apple products I got him to install the its app. To say it was better is an understatement the fact that it has many of the audio apps I have a want to play on long drives is annoying to say the least. I am going to have to buy a cheap iPhone and use it as a live in phone connected to my Hotspot on my Droid. Not the best solution and will definitely be having a chat to the dealer when he calls in the week to see how I like my new clubman.
My 2015 Mini Countryman S can't even do Bluetooth music streaming from my Galaxy S7 edge Android phone, and even plugging in to USB doesn't recognize any music files stored in my phone. Really sloppy work here on the app. Even my 2011 BMW E90 iDrive worked flawlessly. To think both BMW and Mini are from the same group.
Terrible App. Supposedly could connect my spotify account from my phone to the car via this but cannot no matter what you try. Has potential to be brilliant but needs an awful lot of work. Huge disappointment by Mini.
Just bought a new Mini JCW and the app is not compatible with my Oneplus one (Android 6.0). Can you fix it please?
As others have said, this is so bad its untrue. Actually,Bluetooth is so hit and miss, thats part of the problem. The fact I need to plug this in does my head in,why isnt it all connectionless? Cant play anything music wise so why BMW built this,or dont put any real effort into it,for a global brand,is beyond me.
Spent the better part of a day trying to get this piece of substandard crap to work. The app caused my phone to reset and freeze on boot. Couldn't get the app to work with Amazon music. Complete piece of ####. Edit: just realised that android version has less features the iPhone ver. Way to go MINI! Excluding probably the majority of your customers. Will this app ever be improved? It's an embarrassment. I now have to listen to my music via the good 'old Aux connection.
I don't understand why that even after 2 years that a company the size of BMW haven't noticed/refuse to acknowledge how poor this app is for Android users and done something about it. It can't be difficult for BMW to fix this issue, especially considering the compatibility reported for Apple users. Very disappointing!
This app is terrible. When I purchased my clubman sd I was shown this great app. Only problem was it was shown on Apple ios. I have complained and mini have given me a £250 credit towards mini accessories or service (that is what the star is for). They did say they are looking into 'developing it'.
We don't need anything too fancy. If it actually recognised the phone that'll be great, thank you. An absolute joke.
All it does is make charging my phone via the usb socket impossible, as plugging it in disconnects my bluetooth and this stupid app doesn't support Spotify or even Google play music. It has a music player of sorts but it only recognises music files on the physical phone - cloud storage doesn't work, even tracks on my phone's SD card don't show up. This kind of laziness is not what I expected from BMW/Mini. Waste of play store real estate. Wish I could give 0 stars.
For an expensive car and media pack, I would have expected better from MINI. I've tried LG g3, Samsung s6 and s7 and none have connected. It says online that the LG phone is compatible, but still no luck. Why say online that it works, when it clearly doesn't? All I'm trying to do is play Spotify through mini connected..surely its not that hard. MINI say it's only compatible with iPhones, which is really stupid..especially when a lot of people have android. It should be able to work on all latest phones.
Simply does not work. A real shame. I have a work iPhone and it works beautifully so it suggests it is just an android resource issue at Mini.
Did it occur to you that majority of people outside America use android and not ios? Put the same effort that went to developing the app for ios to android that way all your customers are happy. This app is really useless compared to that of an iPhone.
Shocked at how poor this app is. Spotify doesn't even work?? Why is the iphone app so much better??
I guess you've gave up on this failure of an app to focus on the new touchscreen Infotainment coming in the F56 LCI. Doubt we'll ever see an update to this app except to kill off support for the current vehicle when the LCI launches.
To say that mini really push the benefits of connected this app is appalling. Why no spotify?
Was originally "ok" but after marshmallow update no music over USB works. The tracks 'play' with progress, but no actual sound. Bluetooth streaming isn't anywhere near as good as usb used to be. [UPDATE] Also just recently noticed that for whatever reason, when MINI Connected is installed - my phone randomly (even when not connected to the car) hikes media volume to full & pauses music whenever it feels like it. Really disappointed to be honest, app is now uninstalled, lost all benefit of the mini connected pack.
This app is rubbish primarily because the spotify app does not work using mini connected for android. Works fine on iphone Common BMW/mini get your act together

I'm amazed that a company as MASSIVE as BMW (MINI) would advocate such a horrifically cobbled together app. Not only is this blatantly made by a third party developer, but the fact that BMW are charging for it is disgusting. I cannot get this app to work in conjuction with the Media XL Pack in my MINI whatsoever, it drops the connection constantly and the need for a USB completely goes against the wireless functionality that this is based on. Awful.
