BMW Connected Classic for Android
Embarrassingly terrible. Worked reasonably well with iPhone (which now even has an updated version available). Now on Android and no support for Web radio, or even a subset of the already small number of apps that worked on iOS. A total slap in the face to those of us who have spent huge amounts of cash on an expensive car.
Installed this app on my Galaxy S5 running marshmallow. Firstly, it doesn't actually allow me to hear the music or podcasts that I select on my idrive (and are showing as playing on the phone, which is connected via USB) when using the app. More troubling, as long as the app is installed on my phone, it causes all my other audio player and podcast apps on my phone to regularly and randomly pause when I am using them (when I'm not even in my bmw). Have had to resort to uninstalling the app.
Since the app is required to connect my phone to the iDrive, it should be better. Lately the iDrive always says that the app is not compatible, it needs update every time I plug my phone although no updates available. Also, fix the Spotify integration as it doesn't show any menu for it unlike the apple version.
Got a BMW 335d msport which is amazing engine. The tech including this app is rubbish though. Confusing to set up. No Spotify despite it saying there is in app. Car says app not compatible and needs updating- no update available. Embarrassing.
This App doen't work with my Android phone. Looking into the BMlW forums, it seems that it only works with 1-2 Android phones. BMW support couldn't help and asked me to bring my car to a BMW garage...I am so frustrated.
Just bought a 2016 BMW X1 (F48) and I've been extremely disappointed with the quality of the so-called services / connected drive. Like something from 20 years ago. Thought I'd install this app to use Amazon Music from my I-drive. Looks like it only supports the Apple version !!! BMW - there are far more Android users than Apple, get your act together and improve your online services. Terrible for such an expensive car.
Spotify doesn't work on my i3 on android. Works for iOS, but not android. Just shows up as AppTitle and doesn't launch. In the nearly two years since I bought the car BMW has not fixed this issue and for more than 12 months continued to advertise support. And this is one more reason why I've got a Tesla Model S on order and will never buy a BMW again.
Absolutely awful. Coming from an iPhone which worked fine, I am now dealing with a useless app which doesn't allow me to stream Spotify, Web radio etc.. All I can do is access calendar and play local mp3s on the phone. Have resorted back to using Bluetooth streaming and completely bypassing this embarrassment of a piece of software. Cannot believe BMW could be so poor.
I don't understand the point of this. With my Galaxy S 7 connected I cannot control anything and I drive is not letting me control my Spotify app, I end up disconnect and run it Bluetooth. This app needs a huge amount of work
Unreliable. One minute all working, listening to music but then no sound but still playing. Can see track etc with time ticking on but no sound. Select radio, sound fine, back to connected audio and track shows as playing but no sound. Ahhhh. And as for Eco Analyser its meant to work for all but 'all BMW M & BMW i models' with ECO Mode, I have the X4 M Sport and it doesn't even show up as an available app in the car, its on the phone and enabled to record data but nothing on the car, neither is last mile. Come on BMW we don't all have iphones !!!!!!!!
Piece of crap. Music Player doesn't work. The supposedly BMW compatible apps doesn't show up. The car gives an error message saying the app isn't compatible with the car and suggests to update the app, but no update exists. Utter and total app fail.
Music just jitters and it doesn't recognise Spotify on my phone. Dont think it even fully supports my s5 mini according to the website absolute junk support. Make it as good as the ios and it'll be useful
Andoid app does not work. Spotify is not available in the car despite being set up on the app. Works fine on iPhone version (which also has audible). Having to disable so I can charge my phone and use Bluetooth. Please fix.
Stock BMW apps only - forget anything else - spotify etc. If you were thinking of hooking up your phone to the car and using the ONLY current android app (Spotify) forget it - unless your driving a 7 series. I was really looking forward to accessing spotify and searching music from the car console :( You can stream wirelessly any sound from your android phone to the car via bluetooth - this isn't using this app. In this day and age I would have expected A LOT MORE from BMW. Loads of choice if you have an iphone :( Absolute Garbage!!
Hey BMW. Got my new BMW and the app is terrible. No support for any apps and the twitter api doesn't work since it is the older api. Very poor guys R500k for the car R16k for my phone. What now?
Would if I could. Just spent 30m going round and round in circles and cannot get it to do anything useful. Uninstalled once before because it was so unreliable but now it seems worse. Bmw should stick to making cars.
Against what is communicated by BMW, the app does not support spotify (exept the new 7 series). E.g. does not work with a brand new 530 and spotify. Instaed of solving the problem togehter, BMW and Spotify blame each other for this!
It looks like Spotify should work with this, but it doesn't. Unless you have a brand new 7-Series apparently. For most people, that's no use at all.
Using Android doesn't mean we should be ignored. BMW, I paid thousands of pounds on the car and options but feels been treated like a second class citizen compare with the iPhone users got. If you can't figure out how to properly deploy your service on Android platform, please at least teach your sales team how to clarify this to perspective customers when introducing BMW apps! I fell like a fool....no, I am a fool. Fooled by you - BMW!
This is a useless app and does not work on any of my android devices. The developer needs to check how this can be integrated in the software since the BMW connected cannot update itself unless the car is given to the service center for updates. BMW should endeavour to have the soft patches of the maps and other updates available online.
A pointless app, was hoping to use spotify on my X3, it doesn't provide any functionality. Once again iPhone is prioritised over andriod yet again!
Bmw i3 does not connect to my Xperia z5 with this app. There are more Android users than iPhone users in this world, when will BMW recognise this fact? Wish I had bought a Tesla.
My wife has iPhone and the app is much better and richer of functions. In my opinion the most annoying missing function is the web radio. Just don't waste our time with this crap. Update: in North America there is a new version of the App, how long do you plan to make us in Europe wait for it? I bought a German car, not a Chevrolet!!!
Buggy, counter intuitive and Spotify is still not working for anything other than a brand new 7 series. Common BMW put some real effort into this app and get out ahead again. I don't want to be harsh, but no updates in 11 months suggests you have completely forgotten about the most popular mobile platform in Europe.
I payed for the connected services option but the app doesn't seem to work anymore. When confronting my dealer, he mentioned that BMW is writing a new app (for iOS first) and that in the mean time, the Connected app will stay broken. He heard the problem from multiple customers. If this is true, then this is really no correct service for any brand, let alone a premium brand.
Shame on Google I can't rate this app a minus 1. Pretty important my music for me, pay for it like I did for my second bmw, app don't work for Android, only for iPhone how stupid is that
I wish if I can give 0 star and will appear in the reviews.
...as BMW didn't bother either. Shameful.
Why ?
The app doesn't function from the USB port as you state it does :(
I wish it worked! It doesn't recognize the app and connection. This shouldn't be so hard!
Far too complicated to set up. Can't actually see what it's meant to do anyway, so not encouraged to spend time trying to install and connect something I've never worked out a reason for.
Oh no, really, this is it? This is how BMW is coding? I sure hope the car is better than this. According to the compatibility list at BMW it does not work with a Samsung Galaxy - here in google play it is listed as compatible with all my devices but no, it is not. The ugly truth is - if you want to drive a BMW, better get yourself an iPhone or drive a different car.
Not what you expect from one of the world's biggest car manufacturers. This App acts as a gateway between your phone and the BMW iDrive system, I wanted it for 2 Apps, Spotify and M Performance Laptimer. Both work with Apple IOS, Spotify doesn't work with this app on Android and Laptimer isn't even available! Miles behind most other car manufacturers connected offerings.
Une toute nouvelle BMW série 2 (2015) et l'application n'est pas compatible avec un Samsung S5... inadmissible de la part de BMW!!!
With IPhone this app rocked. The Android version is appallingly non user friendly - gave up on it as a failed experiment. simple test - Deezer on Sony phone - BMW connect fails to find it stuck with playing MP3 local files in Sony phone instead of streaming from Deezer. I got plug and play from IPhone I get grief from Android
Can anyone from BMW comment on why this doesn't work for older CIC based cars. Every iPhone ever works, yet the latest Android phones don't. I'd like to just be able to have USB audio rather than Bluetooth.
On the iPhone this app works brilliantly, with seamless Spotify integration. When I downloaded the Android app it didn't cross my kind that it wouldn't be the same, oh how wrong I was! Please, please, please sort this out and get to a level playing field with the iPhone app!
So obviously iPhone users are the people BMW target for their cars! Even though I just spent quite a lot of money on a brand new X6 it seems that having Android and a very expensive S6 Edge just doesn't cut it with BMW. I will certainly know next time

This piece of s**t doesn't work anymore with my LG G5 and BMW i3. While it worked I was very irritated to notice that only a fraction of the apps that work on iPhone works on Android, and it sure isn't androids fault. I cannot believe that BMW thinks it is OK to have such a disgraceful app.
