PleaseCycle - BikeMiles for Android
My Cyclescheme user? Please make sure you have set your app password within the profile section of "My Bike Miles" then you'll be able to use our app to log your journeys for Gold BikeMiles!
PleaseCycle helps Councils and organisations understand, encourage and reward resident and employee cycling – a proven way of saving carbon, increasing productivity and lowering absenteeism.
Our Cycle Hub ® system is an online portal containing educational content, safe route planners, weather updates and a Council or company-wide leaderboard. This allows people to see how much they’re cycling, the resultant carbon saved and earn rewards for their mileage – like an “Air Miles” for bikes.
It’s a resident or employee-engagement, benefit and CSR tool rolled into one, helping Councils and organisations to inspire sustainable behaviour and capture the ROI it brings.
Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life
Dont like the journey tracker
Really like this. Simple app and had no problems with accuracy. only thing I'd say is that the achievements don't always work... They seem to sometimes need a kick to get them to start. Using it with the cycle Scotland thing.
Milage out alittle but a good app.easy to use, even for me.
This app is brilliant if you're a regular cyclist. Sign up and enjoy the rewards! :)
Using as part of cycle Manchester, its a capable app but not as good as endomondo nor strava
Simple and basic visuals and use but after seeing the types of rewards, I think I'll stick with endomondo and priority moments

Would like to be able to see teams on it like on the website. Also mapping the route tike other apps do or be able to like it ot other apps to get the data from them.
Awsome
The distance calculations are just wrong. There are limited cycle-based rewards on the Birmingham council related scheme to which this has been linked.
My commute is 3.2 miles. This app has recorded anything from 1.9 to 4.4 miles. After checking on line it has the gps start and finish correct. My route does not vary at all so unless I take a zig zag route one day and go through the buildings the next this app is just too random to be useful. Perhaps it could pick lottery numbers.
Using this as part of Cycling Scotland Jan/Feb 2015 challenge. Easy to log and browser interface is good
Easy to use. Good set of stats to view.
Just crap. Can't add a jurney
Used this on 2 journeys so far. The first one didn't update my profile. The second one was 11+ miles - uphill most of the way for the first half, so very slow, but the reverse on the way back. When I got home to register the journey it said something about too many fouls, so again didn't register. Most annoying!
Works every time on my galaxy s3
Got this app as a Cyclescheme member and love competing against colleagues at work.great fun.
Poor accuracy in mileage, therefore one can deduce poor accuracy on everything else. Why did I get this? Promise of awards, which honestly are not worth it...move on people.
I've been using Strava for a while, and it is very good and also records distances accurately. I was expecting something similar from PleaseCycle, but this application only records between 50% to 75% of the distance I'm actually cycling (I've also got a cycle computer on my bike, so know how far I've gone). This completely defeats the purpose of it.. Come on PleaseCycle. Sort out the basics!
First use of Android app. please cycle logged 9.5miles Polar CS200 cycle computer logged 20.1mile Endomondo Android App logged 19.9mile Strava Android App logged 20.4mile So one star based on pleasecycle app being 10 miles out.
It seems to work fine. No issues with it yet. I have it on a tablet. Wi Fi at both ends but no network en route.
Dont like the journey tracker
Better tear myself away from becoming a bicycle brain and do something useful I suppose.
This app takes a very long time to get a GPS signal and sometimes doesn't at all. I have many unrecorded journeys because of this problem. Please fix as its really frustrating.
My commute is 11.5 miles and this app is so inconsistent that it ranges from 9 miles to 11.3....strava gets it spot on every time. Get that sorted and it'll get 4 stars
It seems to match the distance i've travelled that the endomondo app i'm using does. It's basic but fine by me.
Good for viewing your info but would prefer to be able to enter journeys manually too.
This app is crap, asks for login, give us a clue what you want.
It would be great if the app tracked your speed, distance, calories and so on in real time so you could use the app as a tracker, rather than having to use it along with other apps.
So far so good :)
Installed fine. Simple to start and stop. Makes it more likely for me to log miles in the scheme than when I used web interface. Four journeys of various lengths, no issues so far (I had an account before using app and have always switched gps on first).
Fails to log your journey crashs half way through rubbish
I've been using this since March as part of the cycle to work scheme. Full of bugs and has lately been saying I've committed fouls, so does not log the journey. Not impressed at all.
Be carefull this app has just used 400mb of background data in 1 day, if I didn't have a warning set I would never have known it was using all that.
We all use multiple apps fro tracking. Is there anyway of either syncing with other apps (Garmin Connect/Strava/SportsTracker etc) or dropping .gpx tracks into the web version? If not, then this is useless.
Absolute crap not worthy of even 1 star actually not worthy of my time writing this
Very good. Thanks for updating the app. Reliability is great now.
Records my journey alright but always fails to upload. Pointless.
A good idea let down by poor implementation. So many ways this app could be improved: Accuracy, reliability, usability
