Blink Mobile for Android
Missing many "table stakes" features ... Like the chargers take an rfid card, but if your phone supports tap payment things the app can't make it work like an rfid card. Like if you register a broken charger, it forces you to type in a serial number instead of using your location as a starting point. It's worked for me to start a charging session, but its obvious this app is an afterthought.
I used this service one time. It is stupidly expensive. It would cost me almost $15 to charge my car (one of the two available posts was offline). I unplugged after 3kwh. The app didn't work making a account by normal means or using Facebook login. Companies need to understand that happy customers generate more customers. This company is clearly very greedy. Minimal effort on app and website. Maximum price. This is my first and last time using blink.
I've had so many problems with Blink. In the beginning the EVSE at my work was out of service. Then I couldn't charge because I didn't have an InCard. When I registered, I asked for one and never got it. I asked a second time and didn't get it either. At some point I got a letter asking if I wanted one, replied yes, and got it delivered a couple of weeks later. Things worked for a while, but now my InCard and my Credit Cards have disappeared from the Android app. If I try to add the InCard again, it says that it's already in use. The app now says that I'm not a member, even though I'm logged in. If I want to login with my facebook account it says that the hash key is not valid and gives me a link to a page that doesn't exist. I once tried calling them and they had me on hold with advertisements from other companies that never ended. Truly the worst EVSE company there is.
Tried 3 blink chargers in the last week I've had my car. Complete network failure each time. Glad my Prius Prime is a hybrid plug in.
App locks up attempting to activate a charger. Can't enter a code because charger display fails when exposed to sunlight.
This app is pointless and frustrating. It fails to start charging every time I've tried to use it. This service is the most expensive per kWh of any I've used. Not a good combination.
Terrible. The remote charge is a hassle to deal with and rarely ever works. The map doesn't accurately show where stations are. And if the station is broken? You're out of luck because the app isn't smart enough to know that...
This app never works... tried numerous times. Pretty useless
If this charger wasn't right by my work, I would never use it. The notifications are terrible, and I've missed multiple times where someone else unplugged my car because the app didn't notify me.
1.Time zone is wrong ( EST ) even it shows/posted in the Blink app and ln the OS (my ) PST. 2. Constantly frozen on cell and wifi! 3. Can not edit cell carrier because password box does NOT accept characters
Worst app experience I've had. Connect to FB has an invalid API token so it doesn't work. Tried using the photo to automate my credit card information, it didn't pull my name and wouldn't let me fill it out manually. Once I got to the confirmation page and it said I had a missing parameter, there was nothing to fill out on this page.
Real great when you need to charge your vehicle and the app won't load at all. I even uninstalled and reinstalled, and still won't load. Thanks!
Update: After at least 5 tries at various Walgreens, I have yet to have anything less than a frustrating and angry experience. None of them have worked - ever. I also requested a card three, maybe 4 times and they never sent one. Call customer service, they tell you to leave a message. Try to report a broken charger in the app and they want you to enter the serial number that is nowhere to be found, or else they won't take the report - as if they didn't know exactly where you are already. I do not know how this pos company manages to exist.
My app doesn't show any ev charging stations on the map at all. It's pretty useful for getting a Blink code, but otherwise is useless. Get PlugShare if you want to see where stations are.
I really want to live blink, but the chargers I've seen so far are really beat up and some didn't work at all. The app also really needs settings like the other apps to set for plug type, I don't need to see DC plugs that only work for Nissan when most American and German e-cars use CCS/ SAE. It makes the interface very annoying.
Can't log in, password reset doesn't work, gives error of wrong password even using sns login.. What gives?
Can't finish signing up after multiple attempts, unknown error. Can't even report it either, requires some id
The most expensive charging stations stay away
Can't unlock the charger with the app, and can't enter the code manually because the charger's screen is absolutely blind.
Doesn't even load on phone
Why is it that a charging app needs access to my camera? And I can't turn that part off. You need to fix your app to allow for opting out of those extras... some of us just want to charge an EV.
Lots of good features added. After a few upgrades the app is working better than ever. Can we get better pricing on the L2's in the Phx area? Some of these are quite painfull to use. I would like to see pricing similar to other states this way you guys can give Chargepoint a run for their money.
Worst app ever and most expensive charging stations. Use Plugshare to find better charging stations. Also stay far away from Chargepoint - another expensive, rip-off station. EVgo is much mire economical for any charge type - DC or level 2.
Cannot sign in will, not connect to server, works fine on phone, but not on Samsung tablet.
Works, mostly. Today I almost was unable to start charging, my phone battery was low and they disallow it from installing on my g-paf lg 8.3 so I can't use that! Often locks on splash screen. And the prices are high. I'm glad Blink Networks exists, but it's not my first choice.
New Car Charging Group CEO is clueless.
Lots of good features added. When I start using the map for a while it locks up
The new version never gets beyond the welcome screen.
App constantly locks up
I just purchased an EV. I wanted to make sure I understood and could use public charging before I went far from home and needed it. The app located several blink station near me. Many of them however have issues. The first stop the screens were so bad I could not read them. Next stop only one station was working and it was in use. Not so sure I will take a trip if it means depending on Blink.
First I want to say I love the idea of blink. Their evse information network is top notch. They focus on more smaller evse units vs a few major chargers. With that said the blink infrastructure has aged extremely poorly. The public evse units all have fogged out screens and extremely worn plugs. A large number are iced commonly or just don't work. Since businesses purchase the units I don't think blink has any long term maintenance plans in place for them. Blink never seems to service them.
For the most expensive charge price I've ever seen, you'd think you could actually start a charge with this app. You'd be wrong.
app is frustrating. it makes me want to drive a gas car.
Only covers US
Blink is pretty much dead...
I like the app. I just do not like it doesn't tell me when I plugged and how long I charged. It would be great to have this available.
This app never works the way it should. It always stops working. I can never get it to send a start charge to a station. The map option barely works: I sometimes have to click a location multiple times. There's tons of room for improvement on this. Also Blink - what's up with the screens on your charge stations being completely rubbed out and unable to view?
App works well enough to pay for charge session once acct setup on web site. But blink rates are more expensive than gas. One hour charge session cost $1.60 for 15 mile trip. Even with 30 mpg car this would have only used 1/2 gallon @ $1.20. I'm all for cutting emissions but come on. Way too expensive Blink.
We can finally use the quick chargers that some loser has smashed the screen. Plug in, use the app to start session, yes

Really kind of a crappy company. They have already dramatically increased their prices for electricity (in the range of 500% margin) and are getting ready to charge their customers for the time their car is NOT charging while plugged in. That Chevy pickup taking up the charger parking though? They have no problem with that guy
