About Let's Print Droid

Let’s Print Droid (LPD) is a Cloud-free printing service for Android phones and Tablets.

Ink Jet and USB printer users please read the app's Ink Jet help file. You may need to use Google Cloud Print. This app is not perfect for novice users.

If you have a business grade laser or print server (CUPS,LPR,SAMBA, etc) , the app will talk directly to them without any off-site conversion. No print data leaves your local network unless you choose the GCP (Google Cloud Print) option. (This app is not NSA approved ;-)

- Works on devices using Android 2.3 or greater.
- Designed to print to wifi connected laser printers.
- implements the Android Print Framework Service; use the Print option on Gmail, Chrome, Gallery, etc.
- connects to CUPS on Linux (Raspberry Pi up to the largest servers), Unix or Macintosh.
- ideal for connecting to print servers as it understands most protocols: Line Printer Daemon, IPP/CUPS, Server Message Block/CIFS, HTTP, JetDirect/RAW, etc.
- use the Share or Send function of another Android app to print.
-LPD supports Google Cloud Print. Just choose Cloud Print from the Protocol option list in the Add Printer dialog box.
- LPD can print PDFs, Jpeg, PNG, GIF images, Text Documents and static web pages.
- LPD includes generic PCL,POSTSCRIPT, PDF & Airprint Universal Raster drivers if your printer does not understand Raw image files.
- It allows visiting Android users to print with minimal configuration by the user. Load the app, scan a QR code; the document prints.
- LPD can also perform simple File Transfers using FTP(S), HTTP(S) or SMB/CIFS. Transfers are performed similarly to printing and appear as options in the Protocol pull-down in Add Printer screen.
- It enables secure corporate “cloud printing” when teamed with server software such as Enterprise Output Manager by Unisys, Microsoft Server or Linux/Unix.
- A detailed free-ware work around for all types of printers (including USB connected) is provided in the help files.
- Download the companion app "Let's Print PDF" to render PDFs on your android device or choose off-device rendering if you have a CUPS server. See the Help Files.
- Bonjour (AirPrint) / Avahi Printer Discovery using multicast DNS. Hit menu->New Printer and choose Scan option.
- Compatible with most AirPrint capable printers.

Well, I can't really review this app as it won't work for me, well, I have only bought a cup of coffee ☕...

Tends to ignore the default settings. Prints to an old hp5mp laserjet (parallel port) via an old Netgear parallel single port print server using a UTP connection, not just a WiFi app.

HP DeskJet printer using RAW/JetDirect protocol port:9100 not work. tested by PrintBot was working fine.

S70%
by S####:

Good local printer service. Does not depend on the Internet availability and most importantly does not send your files to a third party like cloud printing does.

I have an HP Laserjet 2100TN, that is not supported by HP anymore. This app connects and prints from phone, tablet and now with Jide's Android RemixOS for PC from my laptop. Plainly brilliant. Easy to use. Find your printers IP address before setting up.

Best printer, but please fix Android 7 support! All works ok, but all added printers disappear after phone restart or after LPD app restart! Tried to add printers via LPD app ("+" button) and also via "Printers" in "System settings".

Wants me to enter ip addresses, and this and that, I consider myself an advanced user but it's the developer's job to create user friendly applications.

During Google read your documents when you're using Google cloud print and printer manufacturer's plug-ins have support only for Wi-Fi printing this app let you feel freedom! (Ex.: you can print even over OpenVPN just type printer IP addr). Thanks a lot developer!

Brilliant!! I tried many ways to print from my Lenovo YogaBook (Android) to my ubuntu gnome shared printer with no luck. Somewhere I read about this app and decided to give it a try. Using import settings from cups worked like a charm. Perfectly printed on the first try. Thanks and will be donating soon, bro.

I've tried a few printing apps and this is the only one that works with my old HP LaserJet 5 and HP Jetdirect 300X network box. There's only one problem, I couldn't figure out how to edit a printer.

It worked from start! I'm on android 4.4, SlimRom. Now I can print from inside and outside my network. My printer is connected to a PC running Kali Linux, with CUPS.

But it's ugly as a donkey.

Had no problem setting up my postscript Brother Laser printer (HL-5150D) that resides on an ancient Netgear PS111W print server (no wireless) connected to my lan. Setting up this printer/server combo is a pain with other cups apps here in the store. With this one it was a snap. Took me less than 5 minutes from start till end of test print. Thanks. Only one addition I could suggest is that you implement the use of PPD files to gain access to printer specific functions for postscript printers.

Apparently if virtualbox is connected to a printer, CUPS can't free it for print jobs, so not this app's fault. Worked great once I shut down the VM.

Xerox 6027 to @ndroid 6 sweet & pdf bundle though slow still achieved a good result. The best app by far - but alas not worth a bitcoin ~ do you accept anything less?

Works perfectly on my old Android 4.0 device as well as 4.5 and 5.x devices. Not having a rely on an annoying print service is a real bonus. Nice work. I'd pay for this.

I needed an app to connect to a CUPS print share on a Raspberry Pi. This app did the business perfectly.

The printers are not being saved. I'm having to enter printer details each time. As long as the app is open I can print documents. The moment I close and reopen the app, the printers are gone.

Works like a charm!!!!! Hooked it up to my kodak verite 54 all in one. Used the scan to detect settings. Awesomeness!!!!!!!

Works very well with our campus LP and CUPS printer infrastructure, and our Pharos hold-and-release system (via LPR). It's one of the only LP printing apps that supports setting the username sent to the print server, which is critical for hold-and-release. Great app for higher ed.

Sometimes this app works great. But other times when I print a web page, the printed text is so small, I need a magnifying glass to read it. The actual web page printed takes up less than 1/8 of the letter size sheet of paper. The rest of each page is blank. This happens even when I set letsprintdroid to 'scale to fit page.'

It might be ugly but it works! I tried all the others and they don't. What's the point of a beautiful woman if she doesn't do your washing?
