Pet Watch: Pet Monitor for Android
Pet Watch was created by a programmer so his pet-loving wife could check on their geriatric cats when she was on vacation. The application worked so well that they left it running permanently, and they now check on their cats a few times a day when away from home.
How it works:
There are two parts to Pet Watch.
* The Pet Watch app is installed on a spare Android phone. The app takes a picture of your pet's favorite spot every minute and sends it to the Pet Watch web server.
* The Pet Watch web server stores all your photos, on your personal web page, from the last 24 hours, which you can access at your convenience. Check out the demo at http://www.petwatchsite.com/view.php
How to use:
* Install the app on a spare Android phone which you'll use as the camera.
-- The app will set itself up automatically when you open it.
* Press "Menu", then "Share link".
-- Email the personalized web link to yourself. We suggest bookmarking the web link on your usual browsers.
* Point the camera on your phone at your pet's favorite spot.
-- There are links to create a free phone stand at http://www.petwatchsite.com/#tabs-2
* Open your web site link and enjoy monitoring your pets!
-- Review any of the recent photos that have been taken.
* Administrators have access to the images stored on the Pet Watch servers but only view them if working with you on a problem. It is strictly prohibited to take pictures of people without their knowledge and permission.
Pricing:
Install the app and try Pet Watch FREE for 5 days. No sign up. No commitment. No kidding.
* After 5 days your web page will stop working. You don't have to do anything.
If you decide you'd like to keep using Pet Watch, it's just $0.99 per month. You'll find the subscribe button on your personal web page.
* Billing is done monthly through PayPal.
* Cancel at any time.
Notes:
* The manufacturer of your phone did not intended for the camera to be running 24 hours a day, so it may crash occasionally while running the Pet Watch app.
-- We recommend rebooting (or turning off and back on) the phone every day.
------ For the advanced user, we suggest Rooting your phone and installing an app to schedule a daily reboot.
* The Pet Watch app is set to "Auto Start" when you reboot your phone. You can change this from the settings menu.
* The Pet Watch app takes 1440 pictures every day, which is about 4 gig of data per month. We suggest you use the app on Wi-Fi.
-- Although the Pet Watch app works fine using the cell phone network, if you have a limited data plan you could get changed for data usage.
Pet Watch can be used for more than just a pet monitor. Some other uses are:
* A baby monitor: Check in on junior while you're away.
* An elder monitor: Check if the bathroom door has been closed for a prolonged period of time by pointing the camera down a hallway in an elderly person's home. (with their consent of course!)
* A security system: Set up a camera in a summer home to check that everything is as it should be.
Terms of use: Pet Watch is for your personal use only. It is not intended for use by a business, group, or any entity other than a single person / family. If you would like to use it in another environment, please email Pet Watch. We would love to talk to you about a solution for that need.

In the interest of full disclosure, I am the developers wife. My husband created this app so that I could enjoy our vacations without worrying so much about our 21 year old cat (who has since passed away). It was unbelievably calming to know that I could check on her from anywhere in the world. I hope it's as helpful for you as it has been for me!
I tried to open this app twice. Watched the demo to see how to access the photos, but it does not tell you how to get there! Yes. it says * press" menu", then "share link", but I could not find that anywhere, it's not on my browser menu, so I am unable to access the photos, therefore, it is useless to me. Also, it is pretty "bait and switch" of you to say it's free, and hide the fact that there is a $4.99 monthly fee that you see on a drop-down read more menu....that little detail should be up front. Makes a customer feel like you are sneaky. So, even if you have the best product in the world, they way you do business is sketchy and I don't want to be a part of it.

Now I can stay overnight somewhere and be ressured that my kitty cat is okay!
