Lightning Finder displays current lightning strikes in near real time for the contiguous 48 States, Mexico, Puerto Rico, portions of Central America and the Caribbean Islands for one year from your purchase date, renewable annually.
Unlike other lightning applications, we offer a complete national lightning strike map designed for full resolution on your mobile device. Use standard gestures to move around the national map, pinch to zoom in and out. Investigate storm cells and lightning strikes nationwide with radar and cloud cover overlays as well as radar looping. The map can be viewed in Standard, Satellite or Hybrid mode. All strikes are colored coded so you can visually determine its age. Red is 0-5 minutes, orange 5-15 minutes and yellow is older than 15 minutes.
Use your current location or press and hold the map to display detailed lightning information with a displayable safety perimeter showing the 3, 6 and 10 mile safety boundaries. All strikes within a 25 mile radius of your current location or configured zip code are displayed with full accuracy. Outside of your area, regional strikes are displayed with 10 mile resolution. You may change your zip code as often as you like to view areas of interest.
Use the included alarm service to configure Text Messaging alerts based on your location or configured zip code. This service will send an SMS message to your phone when lightning is detected within your safety perimeter. All major carriers are supported for Text Messaging.
Lightning data is provided in 'near real time' by the North American Precision Lightning Network. Lightning data is not guaranteed nor is the timeliness of delivery. Do not use this application for personal safety. This application only maps lightning strikes that have already occurred and does not predict future strikes or locations.

Worked until renewal. Now will hang during opening and nothing I have done, including removing and reloading app will correct. Very disappointed in an app that when it was working was worth the subscription, but now I am contemplating asking for a refund and cancelling my subscription

Worked great for a year. When it auto renewed it quit working. Blackbox got my money but I got nothing. Will not try anything else from Blackbox. Blackbox doesn't respond to emails so if you use this app cancel your subscription before it renews.

I am a rowing coach so I used to check this when I knew storms were in the forecast. Worked when I first bought it. Then a winter came and went and it no longer worked when I needed it again in the spring. I forgot about it until I was charged my annual fee a few days ago. I immediately cancelled my subscription and now use general, free weather apps for my weather information.

Previously worked well. Tried to use for the 1st storm this season, after annual renewal. Locked up on my Note 2. Now using S7. Locks up here also. Wasted $6 for the non cancellation renewal.

Can only use it on 1 device. Have emailed developer explaining I never got asked for a password to use on other devices..... But apparently it's too complicated for them to understand! Cancelled my subscription, however they charged me again, went through Google for refund. Absolute rubbish app, total scam.

It's crashed a few times, it seems to use a lot of battery (almost constant use of GPS) and has some visual quirks. No way to try before you buy...you either buy a subscription ($5.99 is a reasonable cost for that) or you get nothing. I'm hoping the developer will improve it over time. If they do...I'll certainly improve my review.

I think we should call for a class action lawsuit, they know they are selling a product that doesnt work and can get us killed. This app doesn't work. Had it on two separate phones HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S6 and the app failed to work on either device. Forgot i had it and have gotten charged for the past two years. I work with cranes and I need to get lightning updates, the failure of this app had played a part in my crane being struck by lightning and me getting electricuted and hospitalized.

I depended on this app daily, living in a tinder dry fire zone. It worked amazingly until my unrefundable renewal was charged and simultaneously it failed. All I get is please wait screen. It has locked up two android devices repeatedly and requires a forced stop to clear the error state. Honestly am kinda PO'd, and scrambling for a replacement.

I do not know why reviews are bad, this works great! Very few other apps even come close to how well this works. Radar and maps both have several options for personal preference setup. Easy to use also. Reccomenneded

Doesn't zoom to your location even if that option is enabled and GPS is enabled. This app shows only strikes 0-5 mins old, not the older classes as shown in app screen shots, which are nice in order to track storm movement. Included radar is useless for this purpose. Save your money and get the WeatherBug app with Spark which is free and actually works

We use for work which is outdoors. This app used to be great, but for over a month now it just spins saying please wait, then locks up. I've emailed developer with no response. The fact that this is a paid app and it doesn't work..at all..??
