Sydney Uni for Android
A link to your timetable and subjects would be nice, apart from that it doesnt do anything your phone couldnt already do without a logo
Does its job
wont download
As a USyd student, a must app to download.
Maps are useless
great
wont download
If I wanted a map of the entire world, I'll use Google Maps. New maps are confusing and useless.
Blackboard has lost significant functionality. Not useful at all.
Works as advertised on the box
blackboard dont loading
Very basic. What's the point. Doesn't show schedule, lecture notes, room reservations, in short, anything that would be useful to current students.
This app is redundant. 13 MB (most of which is probably those photos of happy shiny people) is a big ask for what amounts to little more than the website forced into a directly ported iOS app, bad interface and all. Unless it provides something more than that, the university shouldn't have bothered, and would have been better off providing mapping data directly to Google. I'm glad that the amenity fees extorted from me go to fund buzzword bingo box ticking exercises like this.
Please tell me you didn't spend my tuition fees on this garbage. An app that has zero functionality? Oh wait, I can... look at pictures and videos of my own university. Wow. Great. Handles like an Android app back from the 1.6 Donut days. Certainly no ICS/JB design guidelines being followed here. All in all, useless and lame.
To me the maps is the only reason I got this app. And I'm impressed with its implementation, including search and navigation. Good job!
Useful search functions and the maps are very helpful
UWS is still a better uni
Great
Pretty bad. Crashed on the galaxy s3
Nice idea and function. Bad user experience
Does its job
It is the best application for all Sydney university students and all those wishing to attend Sydney university

Find staff a very useful feature, maps also good but Camden map could include more of the other farms. Unit of study feature should change into view personal timetable with links to uos info, as bookmarking subjects soon becomes blank for some reason and you can't remove them...not sure if anyone else has that problem :/ don't see much use for the photos though
Wow. This is gloriously bad. Aside from looking and handling like a Year 8 kid's PowerPoint assignment, I particularly liked the parts that had absolutely no use to me as a student, like the staged photos of people "chilling" (that's what they call it, right?) in the Quad. That's way more useful than being able to quickly access my timetable, search for tute rooms or student services, none of which this app provides. Please tell me you didn't spend money on this.
The 'Find Staff' feature is useful, but essentially the rest of the App just consists of links to various sections of the USyd mobile site. This can be useful at times, but it's nothing that you couldn't already do by putting a link to the bookmarked site on your home screen. There's also no ability to log in or access personal information.
Was expecting much worse based on the other comments, but this really is a stable, functional release version. Added functionality would be nice, especially timetable integration - I would hope that will come in future releases
It's essentially the Sydney uni website condensed into an app. It is a fine idea in theory but there's nothing remotely useful about it. Even some of the links just redirect you to the website. You can't access your timetable, nor is there any login to get more individual results such as a list of all your lecturers and tutors. I really hope our fees weren't wasted on this garbage. Why would the average student want to see pictures of the uni?
Everyone else that expects access to timetables and such - where does it say that you have access to this? I don't remember reading it in the description, and I should hopefully you all read your assignment descriptions with a bit more care. Of course, I would also like to see that functionality, but understand that it may not be immediately possible for one reason or another. Mainly finding it useful for the staff phone book and the quick access to blackboard.
When I downloaded the app I expected absolutely nothing, but I was surprised with what is there. Some of the functionality has been implemented with browser links, and all of the content is available through the university website... but it is a nice bundle for version 1.0. At the moment the maps part is the useful part of the app, but I see merit in most of it, just needs tweaks in the design and for the uni to see this less as a marketing opportunity (the photo section should go) and as a student aid. There is no access to your timetable, nor any student login required, and the design does not conform to the android guidelines but if the university iterates on this app they should get something decent. But if this was developed externally I hope they didn't invest too much in it or they probably got swindled.
This app is not really useful. I like that I can easily find a lecturer's contact information. Other than that it's pointless. You cannot access your timetable and most of the shortcuts redirect you to a browser.
The map is not very useful in the sense of finding a specific room/lecture theater, which is always a problem for me as a year one student. Besides it's nice to see real pictures of the buildings when searching with the map, but it doesn't make any sense to me that clicking on the pictures will just open the picture itself in a browser instead of providing additional information about that building, like what LT can be found there, or maybe where the toilets are etc.
Really like the blackboard and links. Mail doesn't load which is a negative.
The Blackboard, UOS and FindStaff links don't load..
Can't zoom in enough. No search bar, to search for a particular building or building number.
The app is bad and you should feel bad
Useful app, it is great to have everything in one place library, calendar, maps, elearning. Is there a program to download so I can listen to lectures on my phone?
