About BlackBerry Notable

Notable is a content creation and sharing app that allows you to quickly capture content on your device screen, mark it up with text or free-form drawing tools, and quickly share it to your friends. The screen capture is triggered from the device convenience key, assigning as a swipe gesture shortcut, or by tapping the dedicated screen capture notification in the notification tray. From there the user can mark up the content they captured quickly in the app – they can draw on it freely, add text, or even add stickers to the Notable to help call attention to something specific, or express themselves. Once the Notable has been created, the user can quickly share it to their friends via the Android share framework.

Use-Cases:
• Capture and highlight an interesting item you found on Pinterest that you want to share with a family member via BBM.
• Capture and callout a specific location on a map that you can share with your colleagues via text message to help show where you are going to meet for lunch.
• Capture a specific slide in a presentation that was sent to you for review as an email attachment and callout any changes that need to be made.
• Take a picture of a funny moment, add a quick caption and share it with all of your friends on Facebook.
• Take a picture of a household item that you need to replace, add a quick caption or note and save to Evernote or your favorite Tasks app to remind you later.
• Create simple photo collages with Notable by adding multiple photos to a single Notable and share it with your significant other.

What are users saying about BlackBerry Notable

Y70%
by Y####:

More useful if it was SILENT. The screen capture noise is completely unnecessary, quite loud, and--as far as I can determine-- impossible to disable. Would bump it to 5 stars if I could use this app silently.

D70%
by D####:

Excellent app. Very useful. As others said, the one draw back so far is that you cannot edit a Notable that has already been saved.

Y70%
by Y####:

First, I really like this app, but wish it had some extra functionality: - there does not appear to be away to edit a saved notable, unless one opens it, shares it to Notable, and then edits - no shapes are available - text settings and keyboard compete for screen real estate - there does not appear to be a way to select an area, copy or cut it, and move the area around, or paste it into a (different?) notable - one can add a picture, photo, etc, to a notable, but not another notable

After latest update still can't disable the sound it makes..also option to save instantly after use is needed and ability to crop

N70%
by N####:

Would be 5 stars. But as of now, if I select Hub as the Quickshare App, share through Hub is limited only to email (and the default email account). If I wanted to share via any other communication outlet (for example Whatsapp which is normally accessible via Hub), I would have to go through the menus stack, which means an extra 2-3 steps. Hub as the selected Quickshare App should be able to access any communication outlet listed under Hub.

Y70%
by Y####:

Just like everybody else, would love for the screenshot to be silent. 5 star app still

Y70%
by Y####:

It's good but no crop feature? Need that for Twitter and BBM :)

Outstanding, practical, easy to use app!

Simple and useful.

Brilliant app, it's just what I need. It's easy to capture the screen and edit it, very intuitive. You can even add existing pictures and scale/rotate them. The only thing I'd be asking for is setting the output resolution since screenshots of the Priv can get quite huge. Also, did you initially plan to call the app "Jot"? The shortcuts say "Create Jot" and the logo looks like it would spell Jot as well. Great job, I love seeing new apps from you that make creating, sharing and saving content more easy.

IMMEDIATELY EDIT AFTER SCREENSHOT IS NOT WORKING. Should have told users about this release. By push notification or email edit: really glad that I'm still being responded through here, I tried to email, but replied by autoreply. I don't like to have messy notification bar. Hope the devs are able to integrate this app to BlackBerry devices. It'd be great if I can screenshot by quick toggle (where wifi, bluetooth, airplane mode located) instead of notification bar. Thanks

It would have been 5 stars had it not been for the fact that it ignores silent mode. Any screen grabs make the capture noise which just woke up the wife while I was using this. 1 star loss due to punched arm.

by V####:

Simple to use, plenty of options for its purpose. Unfortunately it doesn't open automatically on the PRIV (despite the auto-setting) and cannot use the PRIV mute/convenience key for it. Not available yet on my non-BB devices.

This app has a lot of potential but it isn't quite there yet. If I'm doing most of my sharing via WhatsApp, the annotation tools there are much more extensive. The "must haves" include: ** Cropping of inserted images is a little unintuitive - you need to enlarge the image to fill the space and therefore, you are also limited to one exact aspect ratio. Full cropping functionality would add a lot of flexibility ** Predefined shapes (elipses, rectangles) and arrows, etc. are a must for an annotation app to be taken seriously. Currently it is limited to what is more like doodling. ** Text rotation (as WhatsApp can do) and perhaps outline/body colour (as opposed to just one solid colour) for text would be very helpful. ** Traditional "Save" would be more intuitive than relying on a "Share" to another location.

Good news is I now have a software option for screen shots since my Priv decided to stop responding to the rocker buttons... the app works... wish it was just a bit more integrated into the "BlackBerry" experience but this is android

J70%
by J####:

Good idea but why no integration into your own notes and tasks app to share images there? Honestly I don't know why you don't merge rebrand this app with own notes and tasks apps to BlackBerry Remember and add the missing features from BlackBerry 10 like folders, cloud storage, calendar integration and integrate the whole thing into the hub?

Y70%
by Y####:

What is this about Notable capturing everything that's displayed on my screen? Is this thing constantly taking screenshots and staffing then away somewhere? Or does it merely want to access screenshots which I take? If the latter, you need to work a bit on your bedside manner. If it is the former we have a problem.

Y70%
by Y####:

Would be nice if it popped up when using the button screenshot shortcut rather than having to take the screenshot using the app. Disappointed with the capture sound, especially when the system one doesn't make it and since my phone is otherwise always on silent. Also when you crop a picture it just removes the background rather than resizing it. This app needs serious improvements.

Y70%
by Y####:

**Update to developer**: I'm currently using the buttons on the side for screenshots, since the notification always stays on at the top and juices my battery. I had to cut off the notification. I tried several ways to "share" it with other apps but it won't do it. I don't use Google photos..its a horrible app lol. Like others have said, the app doesn't pop up automatically after taking screenshots on my Priv. It also doesn't give the option to save the pic in our gallery! Only saves pic within the app, so have to screenshot whatever I just did in the app. Pointless steps. I probably won't use this until they add the automatic pop-up and save to anywhere feature.

I have toggled on setting "immediately edit after taking screenshot" and I take screen shot and it won't work, I have to share the image to the app , anyone notice that bug?

Y70%

I was just looking for an app like this yesterday! Need it to send a picture to a company showing deficiencies in their products outlining the areas the deficiencies are located! Perfect! Thanks

H70%
by H####:

App doesn't have permission to take screenshot from the notification tray. It just displays a toast with an error. The error should indicate how to grant the permission.

Amazing app! Bringing back favorites from the old PlayBook Scrapbook app along with all the great BBM stickers and added functionality like Google Keep! Must have app!

Y70%
by Y####:

Nice idea poorly executed. Come on BlackBerry. You can do better than this.

A70%

Love this app and the ability to send comments on presentations and documents that I've gotten from colleagues! Thanks for coming up with a winner BlackBerry!

E70%

A nice idea, that could become quite useful. Currently somewhat limited possibilities. But never the less, thanks :)

Y70%

(C'mon BlackBerry, don't pull a Google and fragment all your freakin' apps. This functionality should be integrated into the BlackBerry Notes app!) Easy annotation and fast app performance.

Y70%
by Y####:

Why do i have to have the notification in notification tray. I can screenshot on my s7 and i get prompted some edit/share options. App is great, but the time to screenshot, then physically go to the app , locate the picture is too time consuming.

Y70%
by Y####:

This is a good app, but it needs the ability to undo annotations, zoom in on the screenshot and additional stickers. The stickers are mostly from an old PlayBook picture editing app, but more business oriented stickers such as arrows would be helpful.

G70%
by G####:

Great app but should be sharing to the folder structure. I should not have to open the app to share anything captured there

Y70%
by Y####:

When I try to do a capture, the system says Notable doesn't have permission to take a screenshot. I've tried everything in the permissions section of Android but nothing is working.

B70%

Really nice app. I used to use sketch and this will replace that now

Y70%

So easy to use and has all the share options available! Productive and simple! A winner!

Y70%
by Y####:

Nice idea...but why not integrated within bbm natively? Strange.

K70%

"Immediately Edit Screenshot" function under the setting not function as advertised. I use PRIV. The rest working as advertised.

Y70%
by Y####:

Simple and Easy to use great for composing screen captures. Look forward the next update with more features like bringing items to front to back.

K70%
by K####:

Great App. Wish it would automatically work when using the phones buttons for screenshots. Also the ability to disable the screenshot sound within the app would be a great addition.

N70%
by N####:

Awesome app but should also work without taping the notification area or starting the app. Should also work with direct screenshots. Otherwise, absolutely cool :)
