AutoMate - Car Dashboard

UI is a lot worse in the new version. Every button seems to have gotten even smaller in landscape mode, as well as that, swiping in the music tab now barely works. Takes at least 3 attempts to get the swipe right. Can't exactly use the buttons instead as I'd need a microscope for that!

Bought the premium license just days before Android Auto was available on the phone. Still the best money I have spent on the play store and the new version is even better!

Pretty good app. Exit on Bluetooth disconnect doesn't work so I have to remember to shut it off myself.

Version 2 runs in the background even when it's not being used.

Edit: Last update made huge strides in reliability! I'm getting the alerts without issue now, and they warn even if the app is in the background. Updated to five stars. So much potential, paid premium as well, but needs to have the bugs squashed. All of the extra features are superior to Android Auto, but the features just do not work with any level of consistency. Please keep working on this app it's so close to greatness!

This is buggy on my Samsung. I get one text message alert, which I can opt.out of the automated message if needed...but then it won't allow that option for any other ones unless I restart the entire app. And then the avatars and names and messages that show on the dashboard are getting screwed up too. Had my husband's picture but when tapped it was my bosses phone! I do like the adjustment for daytime/evening, rhe sppedimeter and red light warn8ngs, etc.Needs some help still is all.

Settings are absolutely superior to Android Auto, but the navigation interface isn't. I would also prefer UI of goggle maps or waze. Google maps has more detail and traffic info while driving. My commute to work this morning didn't have any traffic details and it was guiding me down a large yellow pixelated road that occupied the whole screen. the integrated maps aren't very useful on the road.

Love it! It would be perfect if it consistently asked me about my messages. Sometimes it prompts me to read them and other times it doesn't. Very frustrating. Also wish there was a way to toggle pausing music for incoming messages. Or to make music automatically resume after message was announced or read.

Great app, not found a better one these days However I am no longer able to skip tracks on Amazon Music. I notice the progress bar now works but I would rather be able to skip tracks than know how far on a song is.

Navigation defaults to google maps. In my car, I don't always have an internet connection, so I don't want to use an online program. Besides, I paid for tomtom and I don't want google to follow me everywhere. I won't buy premium as long as I cannot make my own choices. I'd buy an Apple otherwise.

I really like the look of this app. It's sharp, simple, and compact. That said it needs a few things to push it to the next level: 1. A good dialer: the buttons are simply too small to see and to use while driving. The buttons need to be bigger and brighter for those off times you have to call a number not in your contacts. 2. Integrating Waze: Waze these days is THE app for navigation because it's real time and gives me info on police traps and other incidents that Google Maps simply doesn't do. I know that you can use Waze AFTER you start navigation but this doesn't always work and it often reverts back to Google Maps. Other interfaces are doing this as a standard. 3. A setting that allows you to remain in the app the entire time I am in the car. Often using the home or back button simply kicks me out of the app. Other than that it's a good setup. Needs those tweaks to move into 4- and 5-star range.

It is the best app along with the android auto that can be used as a car infotainment. The only hickup that I find is the fact that NaviMaps the most comprehensive offline navigation application available for India cannot be used for navigation in this. Could you please consider including NaviMaps as an option for navigation ? A possible feature suggestion would be the ability to sync two devices running automate via bluetooth. The usecase would be a situation in which one uses a dedicated tablet as a dash replacement with automate as the launcher. With this feature, the contacts and incoming calls to the personal phone should be visible in the dedicated tablet used as a dash.

Had issues making a phone call, it would make a call in the background but the UI for the phone app wouldn't open so I wouldn't have the option to end the call unless the person on the other end would hang up. Awesome thanks for the heads up.

The user interface is someone complicated. Just seems like way to many options especially compared to Android auto. Over all I like it, but you need to spend alot of time to understand it.

Good app overall. Really smooth really nice design and look and feels and operates very intuitively. However it needs more music player options. I couldn't get my music player to work natively or so on this app so I uninstalled it.

A Major Improvement Over Android Auto! I gave up with AA because it always had issues with Google Maps (caused maps to fail which then cause a cascade failure of everything else before crashing my handset! Not the sort of thing you want to happen on the motorway!) This is beautiful in it's simplicity, my only niggle is that I have to keep selecting my default music player (Rocket Player) and nav (Google Maps) once this is sorted, that last star is a given.

Edit: latest version running continuosly in the background even when not used and responsible of 20% of battery draining. What a waste of money, it has a nice look but it stops there. Previous comment: I bought the premium features but I am really disappointed that the speed cams are drawn so small on the map that are unuseful. Also the geolocalization needs to be really improved, as not only the cams but also the speed limits are often completely wrong 'cause the app thinks you are on a sideways lane or on a street you have just crossed passing under a bridge. On this same phone, Here maps has 0 problems with geolocalization so it's not a problem with the hardware (Samsung S4).

This app has the most beutiful interface of all the car apps i have tried, and it shows my spotify in the most driver friendly way. So I dont understand how the developers would release such a trash app gps. It does not center to my position till the arrows touches the edge of the screen and it does not orient itself when you make a turn so the arrow ends up in the corner of the screen all the time. SO YOUR DRIVING BLIND!! You can switch between this and google maps but whats the point of that. I'll wait till the gps gets improved to continue using this

This app is superior to android auto in every way. I upgraded to premium after just a few minutes usage. I do have one request though, please can we have more control on the speed based volume level pleeeeeease? It's too quiet at low speeds, I'd really like to be able to set my OWN volume levels for different speeds, then the app would be perfect and you'll have my eternal gratitude ❤️

Very nice, complete, lots of good tools but very finiky, it messes up with the phone functions. Poor integration with Google assistant. Please fix in next updates. Thanks!

The app functionality works well however there were many issues that made the app sub-par. The weather never updated, the speedometer never changed from 0 to name a few.

Buggy, didn't work correctly, had to go out of the app for everything then back into the app. Not very driver friendly.

Bought premium for the purpose of speed camera and relight camera alerts option, so far it shows 3 cameras and some redlight cameras I've searched for on the map, but it's missing tones of others in the same city that have been fixed in the same place for over 15 years, you need to find another source of cameras or remove the feature as it's pretty useless when it can't warm you 80+% of the time, tricking people into paying for a feature that doesn't properly work or is missing most data

I really love this app and I think it's really underrated. In my opinion it's better than both Drive mode and Google's Android auto when it comes to features. Only thing left is a better interface

This is very cool than Google's Android Auto. But the app sometimes closes and opens randomly in a loop. Also please remove the default navigation app provided by automate and use Google maps as default navigation as searching of destinations is really not working. Loved the app and purchased the paid one. If fixed the said will give 5 stars.

This is a good app. Shows what Android auto could be. Great layout and features with flexible settings. A few issues with navigation app and Google assistant.

What a great car dashboard! Literally has everything I need while driving. Nav & music, obviously, but also a page for any personalized apps that I want, too (such as my fuel app and my drive-thru coffee shop app). 12/8/17 Update -downloaded again. Still great. Still love it.

I really like this app. It is very similar to what my husband has in built into his car. The speed warnings are especially helpful.

It's getting better, but I would like to see more relevant cards. I don't need a card telling me who I talked to 5 min. ago or that I was at a Dr's appointment 1 hour ago. Why is the Map I chose not the first I see? When is V 2 coming.

Sucks up a lot of battery. My battery usage shows that this app is running in the background for 8 hours a day even after thinking I have shut it down.

Great app! Works better than other apps with ease and functionality. Lite version has lots of features. Home and work addresses should sync with Google so that you don't have to reenter info. Otherwise great app!

Love the app. Great tool to have running on my screen when driving. Would give more stars if the app would not stay open at all times. Cant force close it either. This prevents my battery from charging to 100 percent.

Good Software with a couple of Bugs in Android O. 1) doesn't recognize the picture in picture Mode with Google maps so this map is on and the Pip Mode. 2) although anti sleep is active like the app told me to the screen alwasy goes Black.

Would've been great, unfortunately had issue whereby Spotify doesn't play through Bluetooth after a call has been taken untill the device in disconnected and reconnected

Fixed list of navigation apps which does not include my preferred one. No ability to define additional ones.

I want a refund! After I paid the pro version, the application crashed and the phone restarted by itself.

I'm unable to use it, it keeps telling me that my device is not compatible. I have S8. I'm very disappointed

Better than the other apps I've tried for my goal of fully hands free android operation while driving. Automated text replies work quite nicely, for instance.

If there's anyway to integrate Google maps directly into the app or to just disable the built-in maps screen this app would be 100%
