App worked great for a short time on my android device. Stopped working except fpr rare occations, stays frozen on the screen indefinitely. Tried contacting the developers to debug the product, but never heard back in months. Don't throw away your money on this app.

by Q####:

I'm kinda heartbroken, TBH. This was my go-to tuner under iOS. Used it constantly. Does not appear to work at all with my Samsung S8 Active. Just stays frozen on A440. I'll hold onto it in hopes that the developer addresses whatever's plaguing it on Samsung devices. Would love to have this excellent tuner working on my Galaxy. I know what it's capable of!

C70%
by C####:

I've successfully used this app for YEARS now and I love it. But I recently got a new Galaxy Note 8 running Android 7.1.1 and the app comes up frozen. Nothing moves and nothing responds to touch. Force stopping doesn't work. Please help!

C70%
by C####:

"Includes support for custom temperaments..." No, I'm afraid it doesn't, which (apart from the falsehood) is a big strike against Cleartune. A fellow organ builder remarked on this earlier. Those of us who tune pipe organs must contend with a multitude of temperaments; some revived by the Early Music movement, others invented by creative organ builders and theoreticians. Moreover, for this kind of work, a tolerance of ±1 cent is next to useless. A minimum accuracy should be ±0.01 ¢ --perhaps not possible with the microphones in phones and tablets. But there it is.

by M####:

This was my go-to tuner for several years. I have loved everything about it. Lately, I need to open and close the app several times (between 5-10) before it begins to work. Unfortunately for that reason, I had to delete clear tune. Very unfortunate, especially because this was a paid app.

S70%
by S####:

Very easy to use. Just leaned the phone against my amp, set it to a clean channel, and used the neck pickup to tune and set the intonation on my strat in no time. Great interface and easy to read while playing. Using it to get more accurate with bending.

C70%
by C####:

2 Stars because it's not working properly for the past while. Worked perfectly the years I've had it up until now. The app generally freezes upon opening now. I uninstall it then and download again, 50% of the time it starts working otherwise I have to go through the process again. I'm using the app on a OnePlus 3T.

C70%
by C####:

An excellent tuner, but it does not work on my Samsung S8 (Android 7.0). Worked beautifully on my old S5 (Android 6.0). The app freezes on the S8 and I have to restart the phone. Other S8 users experience the same issue.

C70%
by C####:

It's a great tuner, but ever since I updated to Android 7.0, it's been buggy. Probably 80-90% of the time, there's no pitch indicator and it needs to be restarted multiple times until you get lucky.

K70%
by K####:

I've had this app for years, and it's been great! But I recently upgraded to a Galaxy S7 and now it just freezes whenever I open it. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but nothing worked! Please fix my favorite tuner!!

C70%
by C####:

This is a really practical easy to use app particularly for tuning situations that involve early temperaments. Highly recommended. In orchestras I see everyone using this app. Much cheaper than expensive tuner hardware that does the basic job that most of us need.

C70%
by C####:

I can no longer recommend this. This app has not been updated in 5 years and is crashy on many modern Android units. Locks up solidly and requires a reboot on my Galaxy S6. Programming temperaments is not possible on most Android units. I've written the company several times and have received no response. This program appears to be a dead duck. Too bad. It was elegant but it seems to be a goner. Don't bother.

A70%
by A####:

Would be great if you guys could fix the crashing issues for Samsung s8. I would give this a 5 star but the app only works 10% of the time. Not worth my 4 bucks... :-(

C70%
by C####:

Was great until recently now it keeps freezing and not working at all, and others apps say that they can't access microphone on my samsung galaxy. If install this app then other apps seem to be able to access the microphone again. So there's a bug in the app that won't release the microphone I think, or an android update has broken it. Used to be great so hopefully they fix this but at the moment it doesn't work.

C70%
by C####:

not working well on galaxy s8.... locks up and won't play the note out loud. I can only use it to see the tuning needed, at least until it locks up again....

C70%
by C####:

When this app works, it's the best. Problem.....it hasn't been updated to work with several of the last Android updates. It's a brick. Sadly....i paid real money for this brick.

E70%
by E####:

I used this all the time on my iPhones and when I got a galaxy note 8 it was one of the first things I bought and downloaded. IT IS NOT WORKING!! And I am really upset I loved this app but habe had to delete it.

F70%
by F####:

When it works it's fine. Half the time it freezes, though. Unfortunate for me that I payed for a broken app.

W70%
by W####:

Great little app - very clear display, and bright. Ideal for sitting on a music stand. Low brass players need to exercise care as my phone struggled towards pedal notes - prob the phone not the app.

T70%
by T####:

With regards to functionality, this app is perfect. From a UI standpoint, Cleartune needs some serious work. It appears to have been neglected since Gingerbread, and follows no Android design guidelines. Additionally, the app is very blurry on XXHDPI devices like the Nexus 5.

W70%
by W####:

Really loved the ios app. On android, the needle seems less consistent. Plus, every time I start the app, I have to kill it and restart it to get it to respond at all.

T70%
by T####:

The most accurate tuner on android. Just pay the money and save yourself time and frustration. It's still jumpy and sensitive as hell, but it's better than the free ones.

D70%
by D####:

While probably still the best tuning app on android, it is not as smooth as it was on ios. Also, the app is not running at the same aspect ratio as my s5, so screen space is wasted

T70%
by T####:

I am having trouble using this app with my galaxy s5 phone. It will not show point settings. It seems that this app is better for iPhone. Pity.

T70%
by T####:

Gives players of bagpipes a nice just intonation tuning reference. Most tuners (clip on, etc) only give you equal temperament which doesn't work for un-fretted strings, whistles, unkeyed flutes, uilleann pipes, etc. Thank you for your tremendous product.

J70%
by J####:

Should contain a plus and minus button so you can controllably obtain a desired frequency without having to find it by turning the wheel. Other than it is wonderful and I use it all the time to tune my trumpet!

T70%
by T####:

Fairly easy to use, but some friends were puzzled to locate the Settings panel. Could do with a setting for very high needle damping

W70%
by W####:

Messed up so bad and didn't even work. App kept on closing at random times, and tuned to WRONG pitch...the pitch was 20 cents sharp everytime. Waste of money.

T70%
by T####:

Nowhere near as good as ios version. Cant set custom temperament or set a reference pitch to middle C instead of A

T70%
by T####:

If your phone no longer has a "settings" virtual button, there may be some other trick to getting into temperament settings. On the Galaxy S6, for instance, I found the holding the "back" virtual button while in the temperaments page will open the user temperament form. YMMV.

T70%
by T####:

I have this on my iPhone and love it. I use my own custom temperaments. When I got the Nexus 7 I thought it would be a kick to have it on that device also. I know people use it on their other Android devices and can program custom temperaments with no problems but on this tablet there is no option to do that. I simply cannot use this on my Nexus device. Money wasted in this case.

M70%
by M####:

UPDATE: Galaxy S6 - there is no way to enter a temperament. Since the change in the buttons on the Android phone, one cannot get into the temperament editing screen. These people no longer support this app - I tried contacting them without success. For setting up temperaments on my autoharps I now use pitch lab pro, which is easy and quick. Too bad, this app had a pretty face!

S70%
by S####:

I'd love to see a up update though it's a little clunky and looks like android 2.3

C70%
by C####:

Good, but why is there no temperament edit function like on the iPhone? Pretty big oversight on functionality.

K70%
by K####:

This used be the best but now the later versions of android are unable to access the custom template menu. Making it absolutely useless for me now. Nobody seems interested in fixing it. It's about time somebody got off their bum and fixed it.

S70%
by S####:

Great tuner, works for any instrument. Please make some new skins for it, I'm tired of the look. Neon skin plz.

S70%
by S####:

The ability to use various tempered keys, the needle - perfect for checking pitch. Use it with a cello it works great. This app is a must for anyone studying a string musical instrument and its probably good for singing.

O70%
by O####:

I really enjoy this app and will continue to recommend it to anyone using Android. But, on Apple the best still goes to TonalEnergy because it's still a more user-friendly app compared to this one. But all-in-all still a great app.

F70%
by F####:

The app is great but does not display the frequency properly when installed on a galaxy note 4.

Q70%
by Q####:

Awesome app and would definitely recommend to any musician. Although I would love for a customizable temperament creator that uses a system where you set the exact hertz for each individual note rather than offset from the standard temperament.
