BirdsEye is a simple but essential tool for birders and naturalists of any level, and is finally available for Android! BirdsEye is the ultimate birding field guide that shows you where the birds are, and helps you identify birds around you by showing you what other people are reporting. Identification has never been easier!

BirdsEye also provides essential distribution, behavior and habitat text from noted field guide author Kenn Kaufman and other regional experts to help you find the bird once you get to the right spot. Stunning and detailed photographs from many top birders, bird photographers and guides will help remind you of the field marks you're looking for. BirdsEye is perfect for identifying the birds that are coming to your feeder, preparing for a trip on the other side of the world, or just want to know what is in your local patch.

The free/basic version of BirdsEye gives you instant access to the 100 most common birds in your area, which is great for beginning and casual birders. Paid subscriptions options give you access to every species in your region or worldwide.

Our mission is to promote citizen science projects like eBird. For about the price of a cup of coffee per month, signing up for a subscription helps us continue to improve BirdsEye and pursue our mission. Thank you!!

Great app for finding birds

I don't know what has changed except that it is working now. Initially it simply didn't work and I was very disappointed. I came back intending to get more specifics for George who kindly offered to help me. Instead I'm reporting that it's working well. The only glitch I found was needing to reload the rare bird list after following one bird to a map and then trying to return to the list. It goes back so far and then gives you blank info. A simple return to the home page gets it going again. Happy.

Was working with ebird but has stopped. Tried Uninstall then reinstall. Does not work at all now. It won't even reach support.

Works great in the field with or without cell service if you load content to your phone before going out. Nice opportunity to contribute photos to the app via the website. Friendly and helpful technical support if needed.

would be nice to finally see all features of apple version, especially those found in membership packages that cost money.

I thought this app would be great at helping me find new birds. It was a waste of money. Locations are not updated and it kept shutting down. Never again would I spend money like that. Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb.

The Team really has done their homework and continues to make this app better and better. Was so happy when it came to Android. Worth every penny!

Really helpful for chasing down your "needs list" while out and about.

U70%

I tried this app and found that you can view a short list of birds in your area. You can also view your own list of birds. They definitely try to push you to purchase a membership. The really nice parts of the app are only available thru membership.

This seems like it would be a great app, however, I am unable to get it to synch between my devices. One won't let me in and the others show different counts on my life list. How do I fix this?

U70%
by U####:

So far its a nice app, but with an issue. Nothing comes up on the Browse by Location page it only shows my current location. Additionally I wish you had a page that connected to the rare sightings list.

T70%
by T####:

Nice to have bar charts and extras. However, it's unfortunate you have to buy something just to download the basic version for offline use. That should be a basic bird app essential which is what all birders really want when out birding in the wild. And what about a one-time fee for all subscriptions or (much) less expensive annual subscription fees.

I helped pay $20 towards the development for this app and only now finding out its a monthly subscription doesn't make me very happy. Wasn't even notified about a paid monthly subscription for in-app features in any newsletter sent out. Would be nice if it were a one time purchase fee like iBird Pro or BirdLog NA and then full use of the app. Does look nice on the Samsung Note 4 allowing for better maps viewing management. Updated Review: After working with the support team for about a week after the app released we were finally able to get everything to sync and work properly. It took some work due to having a Samsung Note 4 with Verizon which had some restrictions due to running Verizon proprietary firmware on it. After the various updates released by Birds in the Hand the app is running flawlessly for me and I'm really looking forward to using it on trips around the US come spring. Wish to say a special thank you to Drew Weber (support staff) who helped me work out all of the issues and got my account working correctly. This app is extremely useful and would highly recommend it to all birders. Look forward to future apps like this one from the Birds in the Hand crew.

Thanks for your speedy reply. I tried all the points you suggested. but still no joy. I am not at all able to add any species to the list. The list is always empty. Please give me a workaround for this. Also when I open "Browse All Species", it loads the list of all the available species, and when I tap any of the species, either nothing loads or the App crashes.

Find those birds you haven't seen with ease. Access listing data in seconds while connected. Pull up information on any species with the correct add on. This app rocks! Pair it with eBird and BirdLog and you'll be contributing to science. I see complaints about having to pay for add ons through subscription fees. Yes, the information is all out there already, etc., etc., but this app puts it into an instantly available and highly useful format. The fees are insignificant compared to the benefits offered and they go to supporting citizen science anyway so I don't see the problem. 5 stars!

Overall easy to use and the team keeps updating it to improve usability. Really worth while when not on familiar ground or doing a Big Year. Using this to assist in my County big year and it is proving very helpful

Ridiculous that you must pay for something I already have that is free. Greed is more important than documentation with this app.

Great customer support now able to easily add birds to my lists.Did I mention local Hotspots maps with recent IDS and icons, with great pictures and descriptions. Still a work in progress but worth the price per year they offer.

O70%

Great to have when your husband keeps asking me "what kind of bird is that" lol

T70%
by T####:

I paid for a membership and yet when I view the bird list for a location it tells me that it is only showing the most common birds and I'll need to pay for a membership. This is despite syncing in the app and clearing all cache and app data. Irritating. I'll be asking for a refund.

T70%

The is the most user friendly and comprehensive bird app I have come across.

Great app all around. This app is essential for all birders whether you are a beginner or have been birding for years. It links to Ebird so you can see where year or life birds are being reported. And it's also easy to use.

I love having these data, bar charts, and nearby sightings at hand. Will be especially useful when birding in unfamiliar areas.
