Bawang Putih Bawang Merah is a popular Malay folktale about two beautiful step-sisters (one bad and one good). Bawang Merah (the bad sister) and her mother are mean and hurtful to Bawang Putih. To ease her lonely existence, Bawang Putih seeks solace near a beautiful pond until an evil misdeed is committed by her stepsister and stepmother. Will Bawang Putih ever find happiness?
